Eventhough the coast trail looks interisting but the forest trail and the hill towns that makes the walk is the walk, I guess. Plus walk along another pilgrims. Beautiful vid, David. Best yet to come eh. Stay safe.
Happy to hear that your walking was easier on Day 3. Splendid cinematography with the misty morning views, and the back-lit scenes near the end of the video. Looking forward to see more 🙂
Haha yes, you learn to be creative with the little that you have! True..I definitely missed connecting with people. What I like about it is that I can choose to walk alone or with people
I was definitely concerned as your path took you onto the freeway. However, your third day was lovely! Dinner looked amazing! Definitely a memorable meal and darling host. When you're introduced to new cuisine, do you make note of the new dish in your journaling/notes? ✨️
It gets a lot better after Day 2! I usually take pictures or videos of new cuisine so I can look back one day :) though I do journal about it too if it was an amazing meal/experience
Found your channel while researching for camino from Portugal. Would u say there are more roads to navigate on here as compared to the french way? Great to see the community of people in the video. Happy walking!
Hi Mag - yeah there are definitely more roads on the Portuguese than the French way! But it gets better after the first few days. But hey...it's a different camino, and 100% worth it =) I'm so glad to have met more people after Day 2!
Hi Kennis - most albergues had blankets so a sleeping bag liner was perfect (only 1 did not which was in Ponte de Lima but it was so warm inside due to so many people). So I never felt cold. I mean if you go in winter time…that may be a different story!
Hi Veronika - the 39km was a long day but doable. The main reason was that I really wanted to reach Casa Fernanda =) And it was 100% worth it when I arrived there. I walked with 2 friends who stayed in Tamel. I wouldn't do 39km normally...and if I had time, I would split it up. But I wanted to keep my 10-11 day schedule but still make it to Casa Fernanda.
@@hidavidwen Thanks for this information. I'm planning my Portugues Camino for June and I have 14 days planned for it. I also want to follow the Litoral route to Labruge and then cross over the the Central Route. Since I have the time, would you recommend breaking it up something like this? 1. Porto - Labruge, 24 km 2. Labruge - Rates, 22 km 3. Rates - Barcelos, 16 km 4. Barcelos - Casa de Fernanda, 26.5 km Also, how far out did you book Casa de Fernanda?
I was there in September 2022. Absolutely amazing place, absolutely amazing people! Fernanda and her husband are the sprit of the Camino! :)

Thanks Nyonyo! Yeah the coast is beautiful..but I missed the forest and towns…and people!

Hi Paula - definitely a lot easier on Day 3. And thanks, Day 3 was beautiful...especially after a lot of road walking. Stay tuned!
Very creative with shirt as a hat. Making the best with what you have. You seem happier when walk with fellow pilgrim. Great video. 👍🥾

I love the little dog outside Casa Fernanda! Looked like it's just waiting to show you the way.
Haha yes! After a long, long day...I was so happy to see that little dog show me the way. Casa Fernanda was a treat

Day 3 39km?
Wow That’s a lot.
What time did you start in the morning?
Usually around 8
Hello how many days walking did you have left after staying at Casa Fernanda?
Hi David, 39 km is too long for me. Can we split it into 2 part ? Is there any albergue in between ? Just say 20 km and 19 km ? Tks
I see on your packing list that you have a sleeping liner only. Did you feel cold at night or wished you had a sleeping bag?
Hi Kennis - most albergues had blankets so a sleeping bag liner was perfect (only 1 did not which was in Ponte de Lima but it was so warm inside due to so many people). So I never felt cold. I mean if you go in winter time…that may be a different story!
Hi! How was the 39 km? Any advice for potencial future pilgrimes? I am a little worried that it may be too over my head..
