  • Have you decided to walk the Portugués Camino but aren’t sure if you should do the central way or the coastal way? If so, here’s an option that gives you the best of both worlds!
Join me and explore the connector route between Caminha and Valença (and consider splitting this long stage into two, and spend the night in what just might be one of my favorite Camino towns!)
Day 1: Caminha to Vila Nova de Cerveira, 15.2km
Lodging: HI Cerveira Pousada de Juventude
Menu del dia lunch at Daná Snackbar
Day 2: Vila Nova de Cerveira to Valença, 14.7km
A big thank you to all of my current patrons (and hello to new members!), your support continues to mean so much to me. And if you’re thinking about joining our group there… come on over! 😊 (Or, if a monthly amount doesn’t feel right, a café con leche ☕️ donation on PayPal is always appreciated!! @nadinewalks)

Such a wonderful Camino moment getting to wave to you as you were departing the youth hostel in Vila Nova de Cerveira! Was not expecting to see my TH-cam mentor on my first Camino. My wife and I ended up loving Portugal so much we took this optional route to stay in Portugal just a little bit longer. Really happy to see you captured and posted a video of this moment in time. Haha it was fun to see some of the same rest stops highlighted along your trip as well.

Camino Portugués is on my wish list, maybe next year. I was considering just doing the coastal route but this gave me some more ideas. Thank you Nadine, great video.

I walked Sarria to Santiago in msy, which was amazing, and next May I’m hoping to do the exact route you’ve done from Porto on the coast and then switching to Valenca. I can’t wait to do it

Lovely to see your videos again, Nadine as well as seeing what the Coastal to Central looks. As usual, great information and thank you. Buen Camino!

I decided to stay overnight in Valenca and walk to Tui the next morning. Evening in the fortress was amazing. All the stores close, the tourists go home and it is almost like you have the whole fort to yourself. Bulwark Hostel was lovely and we had the most beautiful sunset from the fortress walls. Walking through the tunnels of the fortress at dawn and crossing that bridge with the sun coming up was so beautiful. For those who walk shorter days, this is a good way to do it.
Thanks for showing a different way to connect to the central from the coast. Hadn't thought about doing it like that.

How nice to see you (cue Willie Nelson) back on the road again. ;) This connector route is pretty. Just spoke to a long time friend who is moving to Portugal... mentioned the Camino to him and your channel for tips. Cheers and adventure on!

Great to see another video! I did the Coastal route in 2019 and really enjoyed it. I like the idea of doing what you did in this video! Buen Camino!!

Thank you, Nadine. I walked Lisbon - Mealhada last year and hope to continue to Sant'd'Comp in Spring '25. Nice to see the option.

Thank you so much for making this Video! I stayed on the Litoral when I walked it this past May, but I absolutely want to walk it again and do this connector. Your video has inspired me even more to do this and I can’t thank you enough!

Thank you so much for this video. Yesterday I was planning this exact route, as I am taking the first steps on my very first camino tomorrow when I reach Porto. I wasn't sure if it would be a smart move, being a novice, but I'm much more confident, now that I have seen how well signed this connector route is. So thank you once again. Bom Caminho ;)

Thanks Nadine. I have done both Central and Coastal but havent joined them up. I presume that the yellow arrows are mostly pointing TO Valenca so better to go that way ? Buen Camino.

Nadine I have been through Valença a few times but how is it pronounced
I have assumed it as valenSa but is it Valenka?

    • @shalimarlight
      @shalimarlight 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

Yes, pronounced ValenSa. When there is a cedilla under the letter c, the sound is soft like s.

  • @gurutzlete2126

    Valença is pronounced Valensa

The boat is super fun and the first time I walked I stayed on the coast… but who knows, maybe one day you’ll return and be able to take this option!
