I like the format you're presenting here: 1st the summary video, and then the in-depth videos. I think too often content creators present a long video or series without even hinting at what the final product will be, leaving viewers without motivation to watch. Also this is a beautiful piece. We're all sure to get some inspiration and ideas from the project.
amazing build. I had to pause and go watch the tongue song. I had completely forgotten about this song. it's funny how easy it is to find by searching for crazy tongue song. youtube's like, oh, you definitely are talking about this.
It’s hilarious to hear Marc, the wood whisperer say “design isn’t my strong suit”. From the guy that has designed and built some of the most beautiful furniture I’ve ever seen.
I get it though. I can’t design much at all but I’ve created some beautiful work. I can see it in my mind but to translate that to paper is nearly impossible for me. Honestly, my shop drawings look like 4 year olds drew them.
I like this renewed emphasis on build videos again! If the rabbets for the sliding doors were in the back of the door instead of the front you avoid the gap at the top of the door after installation..
That is a great piece of work. The design is outstanding. Wood selection also. I really like the sliding doors with their super inlay. Beautiful finish.👍👍 Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
I can’t believe you felt this wasn’t good enough for the Woodworkers Guild but whatever I’m thrilled I get to watch it! The copper and grain of walnut… stunning!
Remember to disengage the safeties on the Sawstop when cutting conductive things, like copper, unless you want to lose a cartridge and a blade.... And maybe need new pants...

Ah yes 1950s look Thats a very nice looking mid century modern designed table. A few inches shorter you can use it for an AV rack with a 70" led tv on it and a 11.2 AVR like an avatage ( Yahama audio vedio receiver) And yes with a IR repeater your AV can go inside it. A wood table like thats for an audio video system in a mid century modern look to a high end custom is worth 8k bucks ez The saw tooth shelf system something i don't think I've ever seen not even back in the 1960s. Was that common? I was thinking chemicals for the copper like Marks did.
I love it.. But you missed a good one. "Tung oil doesn't leave a high sheen." You should have done a clip of old Charlie saying tigers blood or something.
This is a beautiful piece of furniture. I enjoyed the video as usual. Thanks for sharing your work. I only pop in from time to time so I am way behind on your videos. You will get many very late comments from me. I will catch up at some point.
Just a word of caution on the PTech filler. I run a professional shop and we used this filler a lot until we started having our finishes fail months down the road. I had many unsettling phone calls with the people at PTech, and they confirmed that their filler was the reason for my failed finish on so many of our customers' projects. Turns out the PTech cannot be topcoated with any finish that has any amount of VOCs in it. We use a low VOC waterborne finish, but it had enough VOCs in it to cause adhesion issues with the PTech. It's so tempting to use because it's a super cool filler and way easier to work with than putty or epoxy, but I'd recommend staying away from this finish. It takes 4-6 months before the finish starts having a bad reaction with the filler and then it eats through the finish and leaves all of the filled areas feeling gummy----AVOID THIS FILLER!
I was thinking of purchasing the Hybrid Workbench guild project and while watching this it looks like you went back to the traditional roubo with benchcrafted hardware? I probably missed it somewhere, but why the switch back? Something you missed too much? Thanks.
Nice Wife schmooozing there, LOL what did you do wrong? or are you just trying to bank good fella points? LOL The project is great too, love walnut and copper , well copper is killa cool!
Love it! It would probably cost me over 1K to buy that walnut here in CA. :( I want to make a 36"x36" coffee table with just a walnut top. It's going to cost over $600.

I can't imagine any situation where you'd need both to be open at the same time. If there were some odd reason that you'd need that, the doors are removable.
Not that you owe me anything but it’d be neat if you and others doing these projects put out likely total cost in product and time spent to manufacture. I find myself questioning at times when contemplating a project how to determine total cost of material and supplies and weather or not the project is going to be worth the money spent, along with time spent being longer than anticipated. Granted everyone’s capabilities, tools, materials and supplies on hand would dictate these numbers, but surely there could be an average cost and time to manufacture. Like 2-5 grand for material and 40-80 hours. Just to give viewers an idea of what they might need to invest in building such a project. Anyway this was remarkable and I loved it. Maybe in your more laid out build you provide the info above. But if not could you give an idea of what you think you spent money and hours? Thank you sir I thoroughly enjoy your content. D
Unfortunately, people like me can't do that in a meaningful way. Filming a project for a course is a long and arduous process. I also have to do things in ways that make sense for filming, but might not make sense for someone just building the project. So my time estimations would be completely meaningless unless you were actually building the project and also creating a course around it. Regarding cost, we provide a list of materials needed. The ONLY way to get an accurate estimate of material cost is to price it out yourself. Regional variations in pricing make it impossible to supply an accurate cost estimate. I agree these would be great things to have, but I can't personally provide them unless I just make them up.
@@woodwhisperer nope I get it entirely. Cabinets incredible and so is the production and I’m sure the effort to put out this content is just as arduous. So I can appreciate you taking the time to respond. I knew the response was just hoping there was a way to know a laymen’s time a total manufacturing time and project cost. But agreed the variables would be just to inconsistent. By the way I love the Goldie Wilson “Mayor 🤔 Love the sound of that” plaque on one of your walls. Last question you still playing cod and do you like the current mw3? Okay take care 👍🏼

That patina copper is fantastic gave me some ideas for a project I've been mulling over, plus i got my Christmas shopping done! Thanks Spags!
I love this piece Marc, everything about it. Bravo.
Awesome build. It turned out great! Thank you for sharing!
I have a Leigh D4 too. I always go back and watch New Yankee Workshop because Norm does a great job showing how to set it up.

Good to know. I just used an oil as my finish so I guess that’s why I never saw an issue.

great project, it turned our really fine :)
Would you ever want to put some black walnut veneer on the back, or would that be overkill?
N: Honey I'd like a River table.
M: Best I can do is a river cooper door.
Absolutely beautiful FYI.
Epoxy was used on it. So it's a sideways epoxy river table.
Awesome as usual.
You used pretzels instead of biscuits to glue up the top; do they hold better? 😉
Very unique project, loved the way it came out!
Don't feel bad, I've put a couple domino sized holes in my workbench when swapping depths repeatedly.
Thats beautiful

I’m gonna make this but make the 2 side pieces into door that open instead of slide
Is that a Sawstop miter gauge? Do you like it better than the Incra?
Intersting build.

I feel like I've never seen you use the bandsaw for ripping quite as much as you did on this project. Any major motivation for that?
I do it on almost every project. It's the only way I do it when I'm roughing out parts as it's a lot safer than the table saw.
I totally agree, I recently grabbed a larger bandsaw and I've been doing the same. The sideboard came out great! @@woodwhisperer
Thanks dude!
Pretzls are ok'ish, but eating biscuits would've been more inappropriate while using the domino :)
Nice build though.
You built this a year ago and we are barely getting this video now? What else are you withholding?

Look at it this way. $600 worth of real wood will outlast 6 $100 IKEA tables, and will be so much better looking 😊
Woodworker source has walnut on sale and there are options available significantly cheaper than $600
I’d like to buy plans for your walnut & copper sideboard. Are they for sale? Your craftsmanship is superb! 😁
Thank you! They are not for sale, but as soon as they are ready you'll be able to download them on our website for free.

It's an Oneida Dust Gorilla.

what if you want to be in both your doors and your drawers at the same time?

20:44, too funny!
Has the copper retained its color over time?
It’s only been about a year but yes, looks exactly the same right now. I’m sure it will tarnish and darken over time though.
Is there a finish on the copper?
Nope.
This is an amazing piece! But why place a video right on top of the beauty shots?? Can't we just appreciate the final product in it's full glory?
You saw it at the beginning as well. You'll watch my family goofing off and like it.
@@woodwhispererfair enough :)
Do you ever accidently eat a domino and put a pretzel in the workpiece? I hate when that happens...
Just remember the pretzel doesn’t add much strength. It just helps with alignment. And the domino is mostly fiber.
Using my Domino last night and realized the height adjustment wasn't getting tight enough and was slipping lower on every use. 🤬
Live edge doors - seems like you are copying that from some guy in MN name Matt ? (I would!)

Jealous of your ability to cut extra pieces of walnut for testing. Walnut is so expensive I would have to remortgage my house to afford the wood.
