  • M*A*S*H Filming Location- TV and Movie filming spot for M*A*S*H
M*A*S*H was a 20th Century Fox Production and was filmed at the Century Ranch. The Century Ranch is now Malibu Creek State Park. The filming location for M*A*S*H is located 2.8 miles into the park and can only be reached by hiking to the site.
The area has been destroyed by fire several times but they have replaced the signage along with a replica vehicle. There is no water or facilities available when you reach the site so you must bring what you need. The hike in is not simple and requires walking on rocks for a portion of the trip as well as steep hills.
We also stopped at the location of the Ape City for Planet of the Apes 1968. The Ape City was removed but they have a plaque showing the exact location.

You would think the place would be easier to get to since they filmed there. It was fun to put together the place with the show. Thanks for watching.

It was truly a tough hike on a warm day but well worth being able to see the location. The show had a great run for many years. It is really fun to put together some of these places from TV and movies. Thanks so much for watching.

It is amazing how many people say they watched every episode. Fun place to hike to and see especially when you line it up with the shots in the show. Thanks for watching.

A really great place to see and be able to math up to the shows. A little tough to hike it and probably should have done it on a cooler day but worth the effort. Thanks for watching.

Excellent overview map at 0.49. I have never seen the bigger picture of the area before, great job. I want to visit this site soon, thanks.
I read that the on-site filming only occurred one day per week, and the other days were at the studio sets. The logistics to move the sets to this location, keep them in working order, and to supply food and water for the actors and crews is amazing.
Great job on the video, best I have ever watched.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. It was a really fun hike to see the area. If you go be sure to pack water and a snack with you as it can take some time on this hike. Thanks for watching.

That's so cool! I've never done that hike. I was signed up to do it with a meetup group during the pandemic. Then I saw there were 64 other people signed up for the hike!!! Yikes!! This was before the vaccine, & I couldn't see risking it, so I bailed. It's still on my list of places to hike. I didn't realize that it was the same trail to planet of the apes. Good video!

Two take things to learn on this one be prepared for the rough road and bring water. A fun place to see but I can't even imagine 64 people. You can see we are alone there but people came as we were leaving. You can enjoy this one more without a lot of people around. Hundreds of movies were filmed in this park and they can give you a list at the visitor center but the visitor center is only open on weekends when volunteers are available. Thanks for watching.

The fires in the area made for a few changes over time but you can't move mountains so it will forever be able to tell where things were. Thanks so much for watching.

I was not sure there for awhile. I think it was more the heat and that we have not done any really big hikes this year. We made it and it was a lot of fun.

Ok the walk up to the helipads is just as rough as the drive in the show

It really is a tough road all over the area and it makes you wonder how they got all that equipment in and out to film. There had to have been an easier way. A truly cool place to see. Thanks for watching.
