The thing many seem to misunderstand about Yuki is that she isn't a villian, she's just cocky. She genuinely cares about Akane but she's a competitive girl. She mentioned that because the main girl from her company takes all the big projects the rest of the employees get only breadcrumbs, and that's why Yuki will not let go of the opportunity that landed perfectly on her lap. This is the moment she was waiting for and she's not giving it to anyone else. Her declaration after she made Akane's nails wasn't hate but confidence: "If you want the spotlight come and snatch it from my hands, because I'm not giving it to you". She also couldn't defend Akane on media because of the NDA the participants signed, any reconciliation and solution had to be on camera, and because Akane is inexperienced with the field and the constant harrass it never crossed her mind.

This episode is for Hana Kimura. R.I.P.
    What happened to Kimura Hana?
The scene triggered the online abuse that caused Hana to kill herself, the suit alleges. Her mother claimed that Fuji TV and the two production companies intentionally staged and edited scenes to portray her daughter in a negative light.

Hana played a "heel" and she even toned it down too. She was told to punch/hit the guy that shrunk an expensive and sentimental wrestling garb. Despite being extremely upset, she still didn't want to do that and since she was under contract, Hana instead threw off the guy's hat and called it stupid. That was the trigger. While some flip tables and beat others to only get a tenth of the hate she got, this soul got the whole world laughing at her pain and suffering. And the sad thing is, despite her mother, friends, and those who stood with Hana all this time, this anime is the only justice so far to acknowledge what she and others like her went through. Only a couple got called out but essentially got away with a fine that can pay for one lunch at a McDonald's.

I remember years ago when I was part of an acting group, my teacher was getting ready to be part of a radio show and she decided to have a lesson dedicated to social abuse In case she got looked at in a bad way. Death threats and brand assassination along with verbal abuse via social media. This now made those who genuinely want people to be aware as hate commenters that only bully people to listen to their agenda.

I think something that isn't mentioned or discussed as much in this episode was Kana's insight into apologizing on the Internet. I in the past unfortunately got into a situation online where I apologized and kept apologizing genuinely, but it only made things worse, and it took a big toll on my mental health.
Most people from a young age are told to apologize for their actions and that it's the right thing to do, but it can be a death sentence on the Internet. Instead of it being taken as regretting an action and wishing to do better, an apology is taken as a sign of weakness, as vindication, and gives others a reason to go, "Oh so you DID do this thing, now we for sure have a good reason to hate you for it", and cause hate to get worse, not better.
People feel so safe behind their screens to say things that they would never say to someone in real life, because the screen creates a mask others can't see "them" through. It creates a sense of detachment, because you don't know this person and can't see how it effects them. It's awful.

Akane didn't deserve any of that shit man. I hate Twitter, damn...
Also, the amazing thing with Oshi no Ko is that every character feels *real*. Ai's death felt like watching an actual corpse, Akane actually seemed helpless and desperate, and other characters just have such an insanely realistic personality.
The music was fucking amazing, and some mild spoilers here if you haven't seen it:
During the scene where Aqua mentioned that this was going to go badly online, the music is silent. There is nothing but his voice.
There are no voices, the tweets are just shown on the screen, and suddenly it fades to black. Akane's voice mimics exactly how Aqua had the stage set for him.
    Akane apologises.
This time, the voices kick in, as they are replying directly to her - they are targetted. As it happens, the music ramps up, it has clunky chords, a very powerful low end and almost a super bass to set the audience on edge.
Then we cut to when MEM said about apologising, and the audio picks up more. We get a disjunct and dissonant melody, with that same powerful super bass that increases volume and instead of chords - there are reversed samples that are completely out of key. It relates to the out of control feeling that Akane has.
As MEM's speech goes on, we ditch the lower end samples for the most part, and switch to higher pitched ones that stand out more from the background, these are more noticable for the audience, so it creates a more chaotic atmosphere. This also brings in some percussion, which I couldn't quite identify but it sounds like a digital sample of a cowbell that's been pitched down and reverbed.
For the ending of just the first part, the music comes to a resolution, everything raises volume, we bring back the lower pitched samples and increase the speed of the percussion.
Until finally, Akane goes to sleep. With this, everything stops. We get a single note that falls almost into key, but is then resolved with a half step down, followed by another note even further down, almost unnoticeable.
She tells herself it'll be over in the morning, then we bring in the piano, some higher pitched notes that begin with a major tonality with a rising pitch, but quickly switch to minor, descending scale.
On the final note, Akane wakes up, and we begin the cycle all over again - with the piano now contributing to the sense of uneasiness, especially during the breakfast and toilet scene.
For the sake of time, I won't speak about the middle section, but here's the ending.
When Akane falls to her knees on the bridge, we get a very high pitched resolving note. This is almost angelic, like a light calling to you - or the feeling of seeing a friend for the first time in years. But this has sinister undertones, as it's contrasted with the heavy wind and rain.
Akane forces the sinister side out, the rain and wind fade from the soundtrack, as the visuals show that there are simply lights running towards and away. It's clear to the audience that these are cars but to the character, it seems like an escape. She's at the end of her rope, tired, mentally worn out and ready to leave. She's accepted that these lights are good and that they will bring peace along with an end to her suffering.
Finally, we cut back to her in the rain, on top of the railing. Watch her facial expression blend from the scene at 22:57 and 22:58 and pay attention to the sound design, we hear that angelic tone disappear and we're suddenly forced back to reality, the rain and wind immediately put straight back into our faces.
She falls, the ending theme starts playing - almost signifying her end with the conclusion of the episode. Finally, Aqua talks just as the band enters.
The sound in every episode has been like this so far, and I'm in love with it. I love this show so much, I feel like it's just gonna get more depressing and I am ALL for it.

This was probley one of the best episodes of anime iv seen the set up with the conversations about realitly tv not allowing you to hide behind the shield lies and the idea of ego surfing being brought up prior just to lead into everything and the comments chosen and how the poped on screen felt so real in such a sad way that made me just angry that people do this it was a great episode and countiues to show that their is nothing darker then reality and thats what this show shows reality

I find her situation particularly unsettling because she likely relies on external validation to feel complete. She knows she shouldn't ego surf but like how we all instinctively take our phones everywhere, it can't stop. Akane truly best girl.

As for the warning, severs shows that cover this topic will have a warning at the start of the episode. They probably put it at the end to not spoil how dark the episode would be, but it also doesn’t brace those that may be suffering from depression.

This episode really broke my heart... As someone who started uploading videos to TH-cam as a hobby at 13, I understand how much negative comments can have on someone's mental health, especially as a teenager. Maybe I'm an alien trying to act in internet the same as real life. I'm often worried to leave a comment, even constructive criticism out of fear of hurting whoever sees it.
In general, I have learned to consider the feelings of others, even at the faceless monster called a monster. No one is perfect, and if someone is taking out their anger on strangers either on internet or in real life, they better see a therapist. 🙃 #akanedeservesbetter

Oshi no ko really shows how internet culture/ community as a whole cause more harm as the entertainment industries/ companies they’re against but worse effect. With the rise of twitter and the TH-cam algorithm + TH-cam commentators and drama channels like Reviewtechusa, someordinarygamers, hero hei, Yongyea, Bellular news and moist critical to some extent, etc. it’s a clear sign that cause more problems ; if someone make a minor mistake or any mistake in general, they get targeted by a mob of angry users without understanding the context of the situation

This episode was the first time I've been at the edge of my chair. Even though I've head a lot that Akane is an important figure in the manga. Still knowing that and how much time spendt on the last scene with her "last" thoughts. I were really begining to belive that the production chose to write Akane out of the anime. To really stir things up. Fortunately they didn't.
Of cause Aquamarine comes to save the day 'cause he's the MC, but I don't know why, I actually wanted to see someone else safe Akane - maybe one of the others from that romance show she participated in (What I saw they did actually cared about Akane).

When I made a post on a FB Group for a TH-cam channel, and I made a suggestion on what video to make next, many people responded as if I didn’t know that they already made such videos but it wasn’t what I was talking about. Some shared links of videos in the comments what they thought I meant but I try to be clear that I did watch them already, but I kept receiving comments like I was dumb and not a true fan. But while I saw how they were coming at me, I didn’t feel necessarily attacked or belittled. On my end, I was the one that was looking at the comments like they were dumb for not understanding what I meant. I didn’t apologize or take the post down. I just thought they were the idiots and just left it alone.
Edit: But I understand that cyber bullying is a real thing and can happen to anyone for whatever reason. Some can rise above it, while others hit as bad as getting hit with a deadly weapon laced with poison.

Yuki also didn't make a post to stop the hate train so that's definitely weird, but could also be that she just hasn't seen any of it because she's busy? But 9/10 idols and priority actors egosurf apparently so she had a very high chance of seeing it and saying nothing.
