I use Twitch mostly as white noise while I work or play other games. That's my thing. Few years back, I ran across a streamer that talked a lot of shit about body painters, asmr streamers, dancing streamers, the whole list. For her, Twitch was for gamers, and they were just degrading other women that deserved to be in the platform for gaming. While playing Fortnite. Talk about low skill low effort game, but still. Her goal was to "get better" so she could go pro on a team. Nothing else. I quickly left when she turned her stream on the monotonic "oh I need more subs to pay my bills" and the whole online begging\panhandling stick. I respect the hustle, but I dont have to listen to that shit. A year after, give or take, I came across her channel again. Guess what she was doing? Yep, body painting. Well, technically that, because she was applying paint to her body, to the semblance of something, but with no skill whatsoever. You know, the twitch standard. The noticeable difference was she was now partner. And way more viewers than the usual 100 she had before. Hypocrites only go as far with their morals until money gets involved.
So here's where it gets funny. When you said that streamer only did art streams on a canvas, then changed to body painting, and having her viewership increase... something clicked in my mind. Reminded me of that streamer. The "nah, this is my medium, this is what I enjoy, I wont take off my clothes for money, that's where I draw the line" to "how much of a discount do I get if I buy nip pasties in bulk" mindset. Then I noticed the mentions she had on her tweet. And behold the previous streamer I was talking about... yep, she was there. Weird person to ask for backup when you know the full backstory, if you ask me. But the name is familiar. So I'm sure I've seen her on that channel before. Probably part of the "mod team" or part of the "host list". One of those.
Still, all of this wouldnt happen if Twitch remained loyal to their principles and stayed as a gaming streaming website. As it was. But now they've tasted the soft core porn money, and cant shake it. So it gets what it deserves.
