Great video. Very helpful. I plan on doing the hike late April Southbound and to extend the trip thought I'd stay on Cold mountain the first night then head south. Are there places to camp on or near Cold Mountain. Thanks
Glad you found it helpful! The trail makes a bend where the side trail to Cold Mountain is. I believe there is some flat space there. There were also a few flat spots near the summit if I remember right, though these are not well-cleared established sites and I am not sure about current trail conditions (fallen trees, etc). There was a piped spring right off the trail on the way up cold mountain as well that was flowing when I hiked. Hope that helps. I’m fairly comfortable stealth camping and finding my own camping spots, plus I have a very small tent, so I can usually find a place just about anywhere that levels off for a bit. Have fun!
Great video! Just one question - I clicked on the link to "Art Loeb Trail GPX map file" and entered my email where it says "Send Download Link", but when I follow the link in the email it just takes me to your home page. No GPX file to download. Mind sharing a link to your Art Loeb GPX file? Thanks!!
Glad you are enjoying and thank you for pointing this out. Sorry about that! I think I need to update that plugin manually. I’ll look into it as soon as I can and comment back to you when I fix it. Traveling for work this week so might take me a few days. Apologies for the inconvenience!
That's a tough one. Let me know if you have any narrowing parameters. Out of the backpacking hikes I've done in the southeast, I would say that the Foothills Trail is pretty top notch. It's about 77 miles. I made a video series on that one.
@@UnfetteredFootsteps thanks! I did watch your video on that 🙂. I live in SC so that would be convenient but looking for a 2 night trip. I’m leaning towards Linville based on your video

@@rozzie2478 good! I fixed the issue on the site by updating the plugin so the download buttons should work again.
Looking into doing this one soon. Have any dogs done this trail before?
I’m not sure if dogs are allowed on this trail. You could check in the Facebook group or do a search online to see if it is permitted.
@@UnfetteredFootsteps you can, in a couple weeks we’re going to do the 77 foothill trail. Going to take our time and do it in 5 days.
