One of their more technically crafted songs? Let me know what you think.

those drums are some of the best ear-candy i've heard in a LONG time.

Especially with their new stuff, each song is a gift that keeps on giving. The 4th, 5th, 6th time you listen to each track you pick up something new and you start to realize just how genius their writing is. The drummer Vlad is a classical pianist and he writes probably 85% of their music. Once you translate their music to like a classical symphony, it makes so much more sense.

One of my favorites by them, and I love pretty much anything they do.

The tempo (beats per minute) is consistent throughout, but the groove, time signature and intensity shift multiple times.
Hellfest from Home 2021 includes an excellent live performance of this song, sans live audience due to COVID (Jinjer - Vortex [Live 2021]).
Also, they recently did an interview plus in-studio live performances of 3 songs, "Vortex", "Wallflower" and "Dead Hands Feel No Pain". The whole 24 minute video is great for a reaction (Jinjer | Audiotree From Nothing).

Her pen game is pure poetry. It's worth it to just read her lyrics. In some cases you have to remember 2 things, she writes in her native tongue first, then translates, then decides how it's gonna go. Second, she procrastinates. So some things might seem just...not QUITE sensical

Oh yeah, I agree. This was masterfully crafted lyrically and musically.

My favorite song on the Wallflowers album, and one of my favorites overall, lead single from it too. That 'low key' start here is why the new song "Someone's Daughter" reminded me of this song, and the "Wallflowers" title track as well. Love how low she gets on that 'swirl' lyric at the end. The guys kill it too, that 'proginess' works nicely.

@@chriso6719 Yeah, it does sound similar. Wallflower was the same as well, as you'll see next week.

If you read the lyrics you'll find that the music progression and the progression of the 'story' being told very much follow the other.

She writes in her native tongue and translates to English. She doesn't focus on conventional rhymes because they're a prog/post metal type of group who likes to blend and push boundaries.

"kinda" like it? big sad. such a rollercoaster. this is the song responsible for my man-crush on Vlad.
i see you have _Wallflower_ on deck .... we'll see how that goes.
those 2 plus _Disclosure_ are the trifecta for me on this album (though _Mediator_ , _Call Me a Symbol_ , and _Colossus_ get an honorable mention -- quite heavier than the first 3).
