Didn't know about the Winnipeg situation - thanks for the info. Makes me more hopeful for Laine in Montreal.
If we avoid injuries and the internal improvement continues we will be close to a wild care spot.
I still am concerned about our goaltending.

Laine is going to give it is best shot and the coaching staff will provide him the best environment to succeed. He won’t just be left on his own, he will be coached, he will be nutured, and supported in a positive manner. Being around all these fun and hardworking kids will motivate him big time.

@@rinobourgoin8829 No doubt. Adding Laine’s offence changes the whole team dynamic. I don’t think Semofov is coming over though. You’ll have to wait one more season for that.

It's nice to hear someone speak with hope rather than devaluing the players or setting limits for them. They do this because they don't want to be disappointed. It's so lame. I agree with you, good job. Cheers

Laine never played for a "team". He is coming into a room where everyone has everyone else's back and they play for each other. I believe Laine will make a big bounce back. If Hutson works out this season, I expect to see Matheson traded at the deadline. I watched every game last year and he cost us at least 9 games by trying to be a hero in the last 5 minutes of a 1 goal game. He had the worst plus/minus on the team. The first 50 minutes of the game are for D-men to try end to end rushes not the last 10 min. of 1 goal games. GO HABS GO!

A first + prospect if his offense resembles anywhere close as last season
Some teams may be looking for D on the back end top 4
If Hutson looks good on PP and can produce 5 v 5 without getting worked defensively this makes Matheson movable
I don’t like Matheson’s defensive play, Ghule is playing his offside and is doing all the work inside the D zone
Matheson is log jamming LD forcing Ghule to play RD which in turn is log jamming RD
If Engstrom has a good camp I would move Matheson as soon as a good return is offered.

Why is everyone wanting to see Mathesson traded? The MTL media is always complaining that we don’t have enough local talent??? Mathesson is a great person, family man and spends time helping kids at local schools. Speaks both languages very well, he is loved by the kids on the team and eats 25 minutes per game playing the game the management team wants this team to play. We need one solid veteran to show the way for the next several years. Unless Mathewson is asking for an unreasonable amount, he should be extended.

    • @vdac1068
      @vdac1068 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He is a defensive liability
Ghule is forced to do most of the defending.
Moving Matheson while his value is high would just be great asset management.
      Buy low sell high.
I don’t see a future for him here, Ghuoe is a natural LD, Hutson, Wifi, Engstrom all LD hell Strubble and Trudeau too
I would Extend Savard on an easy team friendly deal, he made it clear he wanted to stay Close to home after Covid and best thing is he can actually play Defense, speaks both perfectly, he is the Dad on the team and has won a cup.
Then this would be my armchair move
I would make 2 trades on the back end :
      1
Matheson for high picks or 21-26 year old big, fast, gritty forward ( younger Dakota Joshua type ) bring JAM to FWD depth.
2 Barron to Pittsburgh for Letang
Would add pick(s) if Pittsburgh retained
      Ghule - Letang
      Hutson - Savard
      Wifi - Mailloux
      Reinbacher
      Strubble
      Trudeau
      Engstrom…
This way you keep your French speaking D quota on top with him and Savard both Stanley Cup Champions
Letang a big reason why Pittsburgh won theirs.
Good vets that are both better defensively than Matheson
Let Hutson, Mailloux, Ghule,Reinbacher, Wifi all chip in from the backend
Matheson Iikes to go for offense first and Defense if he has to…
Matheson The Personi have no issue with but I’m not a fan of his hockey

people are exagerating. we have almost same lineup than last year and just because laine is now a habs , some think already of stanley cup and playoffs... the habs did not improve much in the last years at all. we still have no number one goalie and a bunch of young inexperienced players. relax.....

  • @viper29ca

I hope Laine comes out and just tears it up, just to prove all the idiots wrong.
As far as the lineup goes, assuming Dvorak is still there come opening night, here is my lineup
    Caufield Suzuki Slaf
    Roy Dach Laine
    Newhook Dvorak Gallagher
    Armia Evans Anderson/Pezzetta
If Dvorak is traded, then Newhook moves to 3C, Armia moves up to the 3rd line (that line of Armia Newhook Gally worked well last in the season)
    Defense
    Matheson Guhle
    Hutson Savard
    Xhekaj Barron/Struble
Those last 3 probably rotate in and out on the 3rd pairing.
Come trade deadline, Savard gets traded and either Mailloux or Reinbacher comes up. Thinking Mailloux having more experience...maybe
Daily Faceoff, I take anything they say with a grain of salt, they don't know their LW from their RW half the time
Barron's new contract isn't 2 way, and he isn't waiver exempt.
I have no issue with the goaltending duo. Honestly hope they play them both a lot. Maybe not 50/50, but maybe 60/40 in favor of Monty
