    As for what the sponsor said to the father, they felt it wasn't a positive situation to be involved in. The sponsor doesn't want to drag Brennan through the mud or set fire to the situation any further. He just wanted to clear up the claims between his decision being influenced by Yamaha. We can't force someone to go on record about everything if they choose not to agree to it. That would be a legal issue for us as a media outlet.

      @@odinslain2608 100% the kid was within his right to claim the bike and did it legally and fairly. Across these interviews that is clear! That is a severe bummer and black eye for amateur moto. Star wanting to raise the claim rule limit isn’t the right thing and we hope the rule is adjusted to better serve the claiming party and really put pressure for these programs to bring more down to earth equitpment to the races.

    No mention of Brennan's bikes being pulled during the dealer's statement section. Brennan has lost his bike support. Is that not a relevant fact? Very incomplete coverage in that respect. It seems like this coverage starts from the assumption that all the big names involved MUST be innocent and they just need the right questions asked (and not asked).
    The dealer was probably afraid of losing the franchise without any spoken threat. It makes sense. Michael, you commented a lot on his written statement and never mentioned that he took all of Brennan's bikes like 2 days later. Why not just report that happened and say you don't have the dealer's answer on it? That's true, no? Three parts, multiple interviews and no mention of the immediate aftermath involving two of the main characters, one of whom is an amateur who lost his ride.

Seems like Brennan was trying to be good and loyal and ended up with the shaft. Brian should step up and buy the kid five new floor model ready bikes as good faith and be done with this. Seems like the initial goal of this series was to frame this as a "big misunderstanding" when it was obviously a big, real conflict that affected some real people and possibly a lot of future sales. What part of this was a mistaken understanding by anyone? There is a well-known claim rule no one uses much, he boldly tried to use it, and a bunch of stakeholders got really angry in response. That is a natural conflict from all sides, not any misunderstanding. Any one of us probably would have acted like the people involved in each role. Why sugar-coat it? They were fully cheating and got caught that's why they threatened the 17 year old. What a shame lost so much respect for that family.

      Yep. The claimant should be able to stay anonymous, nobody should be allowed to question or intimidate them in any way, anybody who attempts to interfere with the process should receive heavy fines and a ban from being at tracks for a lengthy amount of time. They suspend people who don't abide by the claim rule and the same punishment or more should be handed to anybody who attempts to manipulate the rider making the claim.

    07:20 star admits to running a factory engine in an amateur event

  • @lect0n7
    @lect0n7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m from a different time in Motocross bikes…When I raced at Loretta’s, his Trainer Matt Walker won the race, and I finished inside the top 10…we were both on Yamaha YZ125’s…I can’t speak for how Matt Walker’s YZ125 was set up, but mine had Factory Connection Suspension, a High-Compression Wiseco piston, Pro Circuit Pipe & R304 _Factory Sound_ Shorty Silencer, a Flywheel from a 1982 Yamaha YZ60 (because it lowered the rotating mass considerably thus providing a substantial increase in torque & I’m not sure if my race mechanic had to mill the YZ60 flywheel to make it fit or not…), my sprockets were custom machined Aluminum, but I didn’t do enough testing on sprocket size which wound up as a limitation because having too big a sprocket in the front & too small a sprocket in the back turned out to be too much for Loretta Lynn’s, I’m from New England & that was a setup that yielded great results at Southwick…which is a sand track that robs a lot of the bike’s power, so having that gear setup worked great there, but at Lorettas I ended up being off the throttle too much to keep the bike from getting away from me & landing me with a broken neck _(…which happened anyways in 2003)._ With modern bikes…technologically-speaking…SOMETHING WAS UP with Haiden Deegan’s STAR/Monster Energy/Yamaha. But it was a throw-away moto…he already DNF’d moto #2 when _Little Red Dog_ Evan Ferry’s footpeg got tangled in the spokes of Danger Boy’s front wheel. I believe they were using the throw-away moto to test the feasibility of unproven technology… I believe Deegan’s YZ250F’s motor had a dummy camshaft in it (to pass tech inspection) & instead had Electronic Controlled Valves which work independent from the camshaft & are controlled by the ECU. That’s why when Donnie Luce from Yamaha was in Matt Walker’s Pitt confronting Brennan who was accompanied by his motor guy Derek Harris, he said to Brennan “Listen, Matt told me you earned the money to do this working as a mechanic at his facility, but you aren’t going to be able to service this motor…neither is he” _[pointing at Derek Harris]_ the reason neither of them would’ve been able to service that motor is because in order to maintain the Valve timing, it would need proprietary, totally application specific computer software which would be impossible for Brennan or Derek Harris to get their hands on, unless Star Yamaha handed it over with the claimed bike…Honda’s iVTEC system utilizes Electronic Valve Control, which gives it completely situationally variable valve timing so I know the technology EXISTS & is being implemented _(…which makes it plausible…)_ but having the ability to adjust the engine timing would be totally necessary…as an example, the next time you’re out somewhere & you hear a 4-Cylinder engine being pushed to redline and furiously backfiring…that’s happening because some asshole either put different cam(s) in the engine, or switched the Camshaft Gears & didn’t make the necessary timing adjustments to compensate for it. That being said, a Fuel Map change could make it so the Valve timing would need to be set differently… and that sort of unreliability is why I believe Star Yamaha was using his _throw-away_ 3rd moto as a feasibility test….

    • @cheerdiver
      @cheerdiver 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Entirely plausible, esp when it comes to ECU circuitry size. Similar to changing rings on a 2smoke, the valve train seem to be a 'weak point'. Though I doubt Bobby Regan is being dishonest.
      Quite the 'Krusty' genre fan, Deegan Sr. comes across as a hothead. IMO, he took it personally. As if another adult used 'undue influence' (a legal term), to provoke Brennan claim. Deegan Sr. should take a step back and contemplate an adult confronting his son, under such conditions.
      As for juveniles and legal contacts. Brennan had his father's permission to make the claim. While typically juveniles can't have agency, Brennan can represent his father's agency over himself (by foregone permission).
      When Deegan Jr. registered for the race, his father had to give a legal signature to acknowledge the contract terms to race. Therefore it's Deegan Sr. responsibility to know the rules and accept the risk. Now he has egg on his face b/c he doesn't have to read the rule book.
      As a counterpoint, there seems to be a lot of complacency, paranoia, and wilful ignorance afoot. Look how many strawman fallacies were presented.
      De Sr ~ 'Who put you up to this' ie this is not your motivation
      Walker ~ 'It was apparent to me, someone else was behind this'
      Even Brennan insinuated Yamaslaw corporate called his sponsorship.
      13:07 As the oldest and most informed, Bobby Regan make the greatest point in review. Pro level bikes can be substantially more difficult to operate*, he admits to the bikes value, and everybody (should) knows the terms/rules before signing legal contracts.
      ^ie narrower band of high RPM for HP, ect.

  • @dougdickason
    @dougdickason 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    There's a lot more backstory coming out that I didn't know about, that doesn't change much but gives more understanding to Brennan's true motives, whereas he has said he was just reading a rulebook and saw the rule and thought Star had the best bikes so that's why he picked that bike. What he didnt say, and not that it matters at all, Brennan had a run-in on the track with Haiden at a Loretta Lynn qualifier where they came together on the track and both went down. Brennan posted several Snapchats, saying he almost got a hole shot on a 30 hour bike and Haiden has a 100 thousand dollar fully modified bike. Then on another Snapchat he said that Haiden was on a full factory Star bike, but he should learn how to pass people like a normal person, and called him "danger girl Deegan pussy ass mf." Doesn't sound like the sweet innocent little boy that was "followed back to his pits by Haiden and his friends after he left the meeting with the AMA." Let's wait and see on this. Ok, the rule isn't that if someone claims the bike, you must give it up, you can refuse. If a team refuses, then the rider is DQ'd. So, since Brennan didn't get the bike, DQ Haiden in that class, the 250 B(I guess there is a one year suspension as well, but Haiden could race local and NMA events, heck, race Europe for year, maybe he would get some peace racing there). That should make everyone happy about that part of the story.

      @@USMC-1911 also, it may seem small, and people haven't said anything, but Brennan's story was that he read about the rule in the rulebook as he was going through the book one day. Brennan's engine builder said he mentioned the rule to Brennan at the Loretta Lynn qualifier at Freestone in March. Does those vastly different stories mean anything? To me, it shouldn't be dismissed and needs to be added into the conversation. To be honest, it looks like Brennan had some deep feelings against Haiden, and the engine builder may have suggested he could not only drive a bug up Haidens rear, but get that 100 thousand dollar bike Brennan was complaining about on his Snapchat,band he also said something about Haiden always having everything given to him. Seems like Brennan had quite a lot given to him, that he didn't seem to recognize, and he mentions having 5 bikes to ride provided by his main sponsor, the Canadian Yamaha dealer, and he even got a 125 to play with and do some "fun races with." See, that's what bugs me, is that Brennan had some really good long time sponsors that had really helped him get to where he's at, and when he did his claim, I personally thought he should have warned his sponsors, because he is a representative of them, and his actions effect them as well, but I think he knew not to do that, because he knew that would not likely approve.
