Have suffered massive stress, fight or flight - but, no option to do either, since I was 7. My A.C.E. score is 8/10. Allergic to lanolin. But, Dr. Berg has been the only professional who’s been honest and given me useful, practical and efficient information. Can’t thank you enough Dr. Berg. Huge thanks from the UK ❤
Can’t get lanolin anymore. They used to have it in baby lotion, Johnson and Johnson and they took it out. And it used to be wonderful for your skin and it smells very nice. It also smelled very nice. Oh well that’s life.
I have genetic EDS, Sjogren's, Scleroderma, SLE, RA, OA, Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I'm also post menopause, which I love. Needless to say, dryness is one of many health challenges. My eyes are the worst. This video is very helpful!
Dry eyes are awful & the only thing that has helped mine is petroleum jelly which the ophthalmologist approved. I put it on my eyelashes and blink it in overnight. It definitely helps relieve the sandy scratchy feeling.
@@bluemoon472 My ophthalmologist prescribed erythromycin gel for the eyes. It's a tiny tube I squeeze in the inside lash line at night. When my eyes start feeling scratchy, I use it nightly until it gets better. I have to go directly to bed so I'm not walking around bumping into things. So far it's working for me.
@@bluemoon472 I would never use a petroleum product especially near my eyes. Try castor oil. It helps me and it helps grow thicker eyebrows and eyelashes.
@@chahfanatic6234 if you do drink tap water, treated with chlorine, just leave it out to gas off; bottle with the lid off for a few hours will help. You can get a water filter system, but they can be expensive. However, you can speed up the gassing off of Cl by aeration, even a blowing into a straw through the glass of water will allow dissipation of Cl. Boiling the kettle and allowing the water to cool will help but not getting rid of chemicals. Alternatively, set up rain water catchment, but you’ll need to treat the water, such as filtration and UV lights, maybe boiling the water before ingestion, which includes or personal care (teeth brushing, bathing or washing, washing machine and hand wash) washing food/food prep etc. see your local gov advice on rain water treatment, as you may have alternatives to rain water, such as bore holes….any water need to be tested before use.
I had very dry skin since my childhood. I tried so many lotions, creams etc. People notice very easily and ask me why your hands are extremely dry. At times I feel bad. But after watching this video, I bought Lanolin and stared using with Vitamin E. Thanks God for a wonderful natural product. The result is so amazing. I cannot express by words. Thanks Dr. Berg for your valuable videos including this one which really help lot of people around the world.
No lie!! I was dying on the SAD. I was using Visine a few times daily - because I also had a torn cornea at one point. Enter 2020… I was blessed to find the Keto diet. Besides my health improving greatly, I lost 20 pounds in a few short months. Last year, I moved. While cleaning, I found that last bottle of Visine (now expired). I smiled as I triumphantly tossed it in the trash 🗑️ Of all the many benefits I reaped from Keto, I forgot that I haven’t had any dry eye issues in nearly 3 years! Blessings!
I had my gallbladder removed last year, then my eyes became very dry. Never thought about the two being related. But my skin is well moisturized. I'm going to start taking Vitamin A to see how it works. Thank you, Dr. Berg.
I have to point out one factor which I didn't see mentioned in the video that could also be causing any dry skin/mouth/eyes problems: dry air. Usually for example in office buildings the ventilators remove moisture from the air, causing the air moisture to fall to somewhere around 20%. That is perhaps even the wanted result so that molds don't start growing, but nevertheless it's enough to cause not only dry skin but also actual eye irritation. I feel like I'm constantly dehydrated and my eyes and skin are dry in air that has less than 30% air moisture. As far as what is the optimal air moisture range, I think it's somewhere between 40 - 60%, while all the way down to 30% can be tolerated. Anything below 30% is going to cause you some of these problems though, for sure!
I’ve had terrible dry mouth for several years. I suspected that I was breathing through my mouth during the night. I purchased a head strap for snoring on Amazon for around $10. I’ve used it for 4 nights now, and have been getting the best sleep in decades and no more dry mouth!
Didn't work for me. Still have some left to take. I take also krill and Carlson cod liver oil with lemon. Yummy. I also mixed coconut oil and castor oil rub on my eyelids and in between and nothing works. My eyes are sealed shut every night. I have to wet with saline. 3 years now.
Dr. Berg - I admire you immensely - your content is excellent and your delivery is concise, cohesive and informative. Thank you for all of your valuable efforts.
I just add 2tbs of olive oil a day to my diet. In a salad with balsamic, in a smoothie, veggie drink, scrambled eggs, or frying. It helps my skin immensely!
How do carbohydrates dehydrate you? Animals like many species of monkeys live off of the water from carbohydrates alone. Where did you get that information and how did you vailidify it?
@@StrongBodymindandspirit CarboHYDRATES: Cx(H2O)y (chemistry formal) where does the H2O of the carbs go when you eat them? Every Carbohydrate has water in it cause thats what it is made of lol.
@@tillgaller6223 ok, eat nothing but carbs without drinking water for a week and tell me how that goes. Carbo- contains carbon Hydrates- absorbs water. The carbs you consume will absorb the water you drink. If you don’t drink water, you will dehydrate your other systems in your body as the carbs will pull in the water that you have in your system. Why do bodybuilders “carb load” the night before a show? So the carbs will do just that, pull in whatever subcutaneous water one may have to give them a “dryer” look on show day. What happens when they over due it? They die from dehydration. Come on bud, learn a little
Be very careful with DHEA! I did this to raise my hormones and just a little. I had been told my progesterone was crash low so would have tried anything to feel better. So I took small amounts of DHEA and within a few weeks my hair was falling out in shed loads. After much research I noticed that many women were experiencing massive hair loss which unfortunately did not grow back after stopping the supplement., however the hair shedding did stop. This has been true for me to. It stopped falling out after I stopped DHEA but my hair has not grown back in. I have really thin looking hair now and I am now trying to figure out how I can resolve this.
@@StankaKordic I can’t remember the exact dosage but I do know it was the standard does that most DHEA comes in. You can take up to 3 tablets a day but I only took one once a day and three weeks later is when I saw the sudden hair loss. Some women are just super sensitive to this supplement. Others have had great results. Unfortunately it is trial and error to see how it effects you.

I’ve had chronic dry eye for about 3 years now and it’s debilitating. I presume mine is due to the use of Isotretinoin (Accutane) a few years ago, since it reduces the size of oil glands and their oil production. Guess what needs oil? You guessed it, your eyes so your tears don’t evaporate. What wouldn’t I do to go back in time and tell my younger self to find other ways to cure acne, or that acne is better than chronic dry eye. I’m at my wits end here and I would like to share my story and hope someone reads this and stays away from Isotretinoin. Please please

I wish every doctor was like you! I just want to spend a day in your office so you can help me figure out all my issues and where they stem from. It seems that not many doctors want to link things together in one puzzle for their patients; I feel like every referral I get is another puzzle piece getting pushed further away to actually finding the root cause to medical issues. Also, thanks for not being boring in your videos, being well spoken, and letting us know you're a normal human by being relatable.
I live in the UK . I feel like you , but a big problem for GPs is that the appoints have to be kept to maybe 10 mins maximum and as there is a shortage of doctors in many surgeries here , if you have a few problems there's just not enough time to discuss them . This was happening with me . I have Fibromyalgia which carries a host of ailments including debilitating CFS which I have sort of adapted to over many years , however a new , different pain began which was agony and made much worse because FMS is a 'heightened pain' syndrome that magnifies pain . I had lots of blood tests , but the one thing I wasn't tested for was Gallbladder . The pain then became so intolerable I was sent for an ultrasound scan which showed that I had many large gallstones and the Gallbladder itself would have burst if it hadn't been detected . I had to have emergency surgery to remove it and I take bile salts now to help with digestion . I am much better now , but obviously still have the FMS and CFS . I would like to know more about which Vegan supplements might help . 🤍
About 4 years ago I learned I have chronic low cortiso, and your description tells me I have had the problem my whole life. But the endocrinologist did one test and said it wasn't Addisons then sent me away saying she thinksbit is rhematoid issue. The Rhematoid doctor won't see me unless the referring doctor diagnoses me specifically first. I have the severe dry eye issues you described that caused scar tissue to build up around the edges of my eyeball. It comes and goes and I see the pattern that itvis related to whever I am exposed to food allergens or substances that cause me inflammation. I have to keep eyedrops on my bed so that when I wake up and cabt open my lids I have to use the drops to gently pry them open. My blood tests always show vitamins are normal, but I continue to lose weight from malnutrition. My drs over the years say secondary Sjogrens, but I pay ttention to when it happens and there are multiple triggers all having to do with causing inflammation. my skin and hair is always dry also, and I have Hashimotos. I have a hemangiona on my liver now and cysts on the bottom of my kidney, and Im down o 103lbs bony and starving. I began taking A chewables last minth that seem to help on occasion, but still the dryness comes and goes. My blood also thickens as part of a hereditary undiagnosed disorder and when my blood thickens large and small veins rupture. A couple years ago I began experiencing transient stroke symptoms that only happened when veins ruptured, these affected nerves in my face causing pain and prtial paralysis that is sonewhat improving now - caused by a mean person exposing me to food allergens on purpose. I constantly have diabetes or insulin resistance symptoms nd occasionally my blood ugar levels are running a little high or low. And yet, my doctor still tells me that all my labs are nornal ... except when they are suddenly not temporarily. I pray some times for death, but God keeps saying no. Dr Berg, your videos have done more to decrease my suffering in the last few years than any doctor in my entire life - hank you.
I have been using coconut oil to moisturize my dry hands, and it seems to work wonders. Apparently it has a lot of vitamin E, as recommended in the video. It also makes the hand smell nice, which is a bonus. For curiosity's sake, i looked at the ingredient in a popular "dermatologist recommended" softening cleanser. It has alcohol in addition to parabens (which surprised me), both of which are said to be harmful to the skin. Always read the ingredient list before using/consuming products. correction: the product doesn't claim that it moisturizes, only that it 'softens' the skin
I love coconut oil, but I find that it doesn't really help if my skin is already super dry. Does that make sense? Almost like I need to apply a moisturizer to my skin, then I can layer coconut oil on top of it, usually before bed, in hopes that it will "seal" the moisturizer in.
@@MK-ih6wp yea i think it does. as you said, the coconut oil helps trap the moisture in, but if your skin is already super dry, adding an oil on top probably won't help very much. in my case, when my hands become super dry, i wash my hands with water only (no soap), gently dry with a towel before applying coconut oil.
You should probably try getting off lotions/moisturizers, and make sure you get your nutrients. A chance you are dependent on them now and they are making you dry. That will take awhile to heal.
@MAP3mage , There is nothing to beat castor oil for hair and skin used since Egyptian times it's not full of water as most skin products either keeps the skin subtle ?
Supplementing Dhea is providing your body the supply tank our body needs to direct traffic to where we need it based on our individual requirements. Our bodies covert Dhea into the specific hormones our body needs when we need it. Allowing our bodies to determine what it needs to function optimally makes sense.
Maintaining a homeostasis has really help and since I have always had oily skin, this has really balanced things out. Thanks Dr. Berg for your continued education to all!
Dry or damaged skin: I've just made my first batch of homemade soap, using tallow, coconut oil and olive oil. You can probably get fat trimmings from your butcher and render your own tallow. The soap recipes typically include what is called super-fat, additional fat that is not converted into soap, up to 5%. With no other chemicals (apart from optional scent and color) and the additional fat content, these soaps should be healthy and good for skin protection. The natural oils in the soap should help to replace your skin oils that are removed by the washing action. But it's important to not wash excessively with soaps or detergents, in order to maintain your skins natural oil protection. Your skins natural oils are the best for it's protection. If you're off the extreme carbohydrate SAD diet your skin should have a majority of good bacteria that eliminate the bad bacteria, so that bad odor (BO) never occurs. Occasional washing is only required for hygiene purposes and to remove the buildup of dirt and grime. Commercial soaps may be made from fats that are not optimal/natural, and usually include additional chemicals for reasons of economy and long shelf life, that may be detrimental to your health. The soap making is not difficult, I've much enjoyed my first attempts. Hope this helps.
I have a random question that you might be able to answer. I am trying to exfoliate my skin to remove a fading spray tan. I was going to try diluting some apple cider vinegar in warm water, and use an exfoliating glove. Do you have any suggestions?
@@MK-ih6wp "how to remove spray tan" I've no experience with that. A google search lists a few remedies. This is probably what I'd try.. “Mix lemon juice with a little baking soda or baby oil. Saturate the skin with the mixture, then let it sit for about five minutes before removing with a cleansing wipe-this will erase the tan entirely,”. Note that baby oils are often made with mineral oils so definitely not recommended (especially for babies!?). I'd use coconut oil or olive oil with the lemon juice and baking soda. Tell us if it works :). p.s. I'm getting about an hour or more of sun every day the sun is out. Dr Berg has excellent videos on the health benefits of sun exposure, with especially the resulting VitD being hugely important for maximizing health. I'm well tanned so will never need or use fake tans. In general ALL modern health care and skin care "products" (especially cosmetics) are unnecessary and potentially damaging, but I guess you know that. Cheers.
Very good timing Dr. Berg, Yes I had been avoiding cream with Alcohol and Petroleum and cream can also block the pores of our skin, that makes me don't know what cream to use anymore, but skin is getting dry, your video always have valuable information that is just what I needed to know! I love the way you present your video, you are so calm and have a very clear explanation towards the cause of the problem and how to solve it! ❤👍🙏
if you mean creams like lotions etc? You probably don't need them, especially if you are getting your nutrients and are decently healthy(use extremely minimal if you really need). They are probably causing more harm than good. If you are drying up after not putting on lotion, like after a shower, you are probably already dependent on them and it might take a few months to feel normal and not need them anymore.
@@micah2341 that's not how it works, I've been without lotion for several months, if you have atopic skin, you simply don't have a well functioning barrier, moisturizer is the only option
This has affected me since the menopause, I also have zero oestrogen. I will look into the DHEA that’s been mentioned. It’s a shame we didn’t get a bit more information about it.
Hi Julie, you may want to check out information on Boron and Iodine. Boron deficiency may influence oestrogen and Iodine is required for healthy sexual organs. I paste some info on Iodine below.. IODINE You may want to your own research on Iodine and Iodine deficiency. Iodine is required for health and receiving chlorine, fluorine and/or bromine will displace iodine. Increasing your iodine may reverse this. Please note I am not a medical doctor and this is not medical advice. Not only your thyroid, but also sexual organs, breasts need iodine. Every cell in your body has a special iodine transporter to allow for iodine to get into that cell! Lack of iodine may have implications like goiter, but also increased risk of breast cancer, ovary cancer, PCOS, prostate cancer. Lack of iodine also may result in dry skin, brittle hair and dryness due to lack of saliva. So, this is missing in the overview... The current RDA for iodine is 150 micrograms, which may be too low. I recommend Dr. Brownstein and Flechas. Also Dr. Berry has good info on Iodine. Iodine intake in original Japanese diet may be as high as 3000 micrograms or even higher. Do your own research! Make sure you get the minimum of 150 mcg daily.

Dry eyes are caused by blocked oil ducts also. I was told by eye doctor to put warm pad over eyes for 15 mins and then massage the closed eyelid to try and dislodge the oil. Can take quite a long time to work
@@niomi2766 the oil is in the eye ducts that keep the eyes moist. It gradually releases the oil into the eyes without you noticing. It can solidify over time and the warmth from the pad helps to melt the oil in the ducts and the massaging the eyelids help to push it out. The ducts are tiny little holes just behind the eye lashes top and bottom. You can buy the eye pad mask in chemists or online. Its called the eye doctor hot and cold eye compress

I did if and keto. My problem was that even with a normal diet, I would miss the amount of salt I need (which led to headaches, low pressure... you name it). After changing, the result was a really dry mouth, and i mean REALLY dry even if i hydrate myself. Tried all the combinations: less salt and more water, viceversa, etc...nothing worked. Now I eat a small fruit a day, still eating keto food and doing If 18:6 or 20:4, based also on the period of my cycle (upper the amount of food a little bit and good carbs 2 weeks before period, based on new info I got).
My score was high too, so I know exactly what you mean. Focusing on nutrition and health is extremely important in recovery.
Can’t get lanolin anymore. They used to have it in baby lotion, Johnson and Johnson and they took it out. And it used to be wonderful for your skin and it smells very nice. It also smelled very nice. Oh well that’s life.
You should be able to buy it online. I used to buy it for my kids wool diaper covers.
I have genetic EDS, Sjogren's, Scleroderma, SLE, RA, OA, Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I'm also post menopause, which I love. Needless to say, dryness is one of many health challenges. My eyes are the worst. This video is very helpful!
Sorry about that.. How do you manage scleroderma?
I have Marfan syndrome which I think Marfan syndrome and EDS are cousins. The eyes are the worst.
@@Drberg hi doctor can you please recommend me a good face and body cleanser? Please

I stoped using soap and started keto 3years ago, at 55 ,incredible difference to my life ,thanks Dr Berg ,and I see new hair growing now ,
What do you use in place of soap??
I was wondering the same thing as the previous comment.
We have little control of temps and humifity level without buying humidifiers or moving out of the desert.

In general, carbohydrates dehydrate you, while fats lubricate you.
How do carbohydrates dehydrate you?
Animals like many species of monkeys live off of the water from carbohydrates alone. Where did you get that information and how did you vailidify it?
@@tillgaller6223most carbs that humans consume are not filled with hydrating elements such as what fruits have
@@StrongBodymindandspirit CarboHYDRATES: Cx(H2O)y (chemistry formal)
where does the H2O of the carbs go when you eat them?
Every Carbohydrate has water in it cause thats what it is made of lol.
@@tillgaller6223 ok, eat nothing but carbs without drinking water for a week and tell me how that goes.
Carbo- contains carbon
Hydrates- absorbs water.
Come on bud, learn a little
Sending love and healing thoughts to you ❤
Be very careful with DHEA!
Thanks for letting us know

Drs in the U.K. fix the problem at hand and don’t search for the root cause.

I put fractionated liquid coconut oil on my legs and arms after my shower/bath. It is light and nongreasy. No smell with this oil.

@@MK-ih6wp "how to remove spray tan"
I've no experience with that.
Cheers.

if you mean creams like lotions etc? You probably don't need them, especially if you are getting your nutrients and are decently healthy(use extremely minimal if you really need). They are probably causing more harm than good. If you are drying up after not putting on lotion, like after a shower, you are probably already dependent on them and it might take a few months to feel normal and not need them anymore.

Thank you so much its so useful.I have severe dry eyes and dry skin issues. The way you explain everything is just wow any one can understand.
IODINE
You may want to your own research on Iodine and Iodine deficiency.

Can take quite a long time to work
What kind of oil?
@@niomi2766 the oil is in the eye ducts that keep the eyes moist. It gradually releases the oil into the eyes without you noticing. It can solidify over time and the warmth from the pad helps to melt the oil in the ducts and the massaging the eyelids help to push it out. The ducts are tiny little holes just behind the eye lashes top and bottom. You can buy the eye pad mask in chemists or online. Its called the eye doctor hot and cold eye compress

I've even started losing stubborn belly fat that no amount of exercise worked to get rid of. Thank you for these videos!
I need a good recommendation for prebiotic or probiotics? I naturally get constipation so will this make it worse??
Tallow works amazing for dry skin and it’s edible as well!
Due to dry eyes, I got floaters & flashes in my eyes. Plz give me some tips regarding this. Tq
You are my GO-TO doctor, doc. Thank you so much!
Happy to help!
I need help since having antibiotics and now need help with balancing microbiome. It's been 3 yrs now. I want to cry so much. Any help?
keto diet and probiotics
@@edwinafrankford6347 thank you Edwina. I've tried pre biotics and being gluten free dairy free for a yr now. I've gone on more protein diet however the fat consumption is low. I need a lost of healthy fats to choose from as only using olive oil for now. I've cut out sugar too massively. The odd dark chocolate here and there for the bitterness to get the digestive system going.
can you please make a video about the effects of having a very low body fat percentage? like hunger ,stress etc
I have dry eyes and dry skin problems. I am taking BP medications for last 10 years, and cod liver oil for last couple of years. Since I have dry skin I have no option other than to apply moisturising cream or body oil containing light petroleum and olive oil.
Thank you Dr.Berg. I heard a very important point on the oestrogen - progesterone hormone level during menopause. So it's the progesterone that goes low making the oestrogen seem on high levels. Now I know 👍
i recommend Dr imenherbal remedies on channel , it has really cure my dry mouth 🌼
Can u know how to contal it?
I use phytoceramides, two twice a day. You moisturize from the inside out, the outside in doesn't work. This is really good for older skin. Whatever else you use will work better now.
Best channel on you tube. Learn something all the time.
everyone should give this comment a thumbs up
Happy you found it useful! Be well!

Hello, I do not have a gallbladder. Are there certain supplements that I shouldn’t bother with?
I did if and keto. My problem was that even with a normal diet, I would miss the amount of salt I need (which led to headaches, low pressure... you name it). After changing, the result was a really dry mouth, and i mean REALLY dry even if i hydrate myself. Tried all the combinations: less salt and more water, viceversa, etc...nothing worked. Now I eat a small fruit a day, still eating keto food and doing If 18:6 or 20:4, based also on the period of my cycle (upper the amount of food a little bit and good carbs 2 weeks before period, based on new info I got). That one fruit seems enough to keep saliva in my mouth. My two cents (I have not diabetes or other condition apparently, still investigating for thyroid...). Still losing weight 👍🏻
I used to use lanolin but now coconut oil works better for my dry skin issues. It's amazing..
Thanks 👌 I'm going to share this with a friend who is having this dry eyes challenge. Great content Doctor Berg 👏. God bless you n yours immensely. Cheers
Shea butter ,coconut. Vit e and frankensense oil.
.at 7500 ft in the Rockies ..dry climate in addition to strong sun 🌞
I don't drink tap water. Also, I use a special moisturizer that contains avocado oil and colloidal silver. It is so good.
I have seen people turning their skin tone grey by using coloidal silver on regular basis. I would not use such product
Be careful with colloidal silver, using this long term. You can develope blue- ish skin. +++ other issues. It can build up in your body and causes damage.
@Maria Wojnarowska not going to happen...😂 5 years of using it liberally and nothing has happened. What are your people using? Is it really colloidal silver?
Sir kindly make a detail video on ur gallbladder stone.have u remove ur gallbladder?
You need to write a comprehensive reference book about this condition Dr. Berg
It’s much more prevalent than most people realize
Please also seriously consider formulating a single full-spectrum supplement that can address all ( or most ) of the root causes of this horrible dryness condition
I can't believe you didn't mention Sjogren's. I've had it since birth, have gall bladder issues AND am menopausal. Dry doesn't even begin to describe
Ayervedic Body Type can also be a factor in dryness
Egg yokes are better.. boiled eggs... Also using olive oil
This man is GENIUS 😊 !!!!!!!
I need Bile because of Autoimmunity!!!!!
and no carbs, Sugar !!!!!
❤ Dr. Berg !!!!!!!!
Why aren’t you talking about Sjogren
Take coconut oil, mix little Almond oil, vitamin e, sandal, Safron, rose petals +whatever herbs u want. It's a great moisturizer which removes minor skin problems as well.
Fab video. What do you mean that the body can not pick up vitamin A iif in the bike the something , dounfef like microbiome is missing, what do you mean pls, dry eyes menopausal, love vitvA
Love the infornation I get from Dr Berg I patiently wait every morning for the days lesson. So much appreciation ,😊 thanks Dr Berg
Mayo Clinic:
DHEA might reduce high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or "good," cholesterol levels. Use of DHEA also might worsen psychiatric disorders and increase the risk of mania in people who have mood disorders. DHEA also might cause oily skin, acne and unwanted, male-pattern hair growth in women (hirsutism).
Thanks once again Dr Berg. Personally I find taking krill oil is great for dry eyes (and mine get really dry, sore and itchy).
No problem. Thanks for your comment.
