I have always known you as a car reviewer but you do a great job with these bikes reviews too. I have been watching you since your early only Japanese car reviews days. I have this same bike and your thoughts are spot on. This is indeed a fast, insanely smooth but feel heavy in the turns bike. And the mpgs are great- only caveat is premium fuel. I love your 4rr too and love to ride one someday.
the gsx8r, zx4rr, rs660, cbr650r, daytona 660, and R7 are all just different flavored answers to the same need for everyday city/sport bikes that aren't too expensive. The ZX4RR is going to have that special factor because of the motor of course, RS660 is the only one with an aluminum twin spar frame, and everything else is something in between. If you are commuting, the 8R is an awesome bike.
I’ve had my GSX-8R for about 6 months now. I really enjoy the torque from the engine and the 55-57mpg Im averaging. I’ve since added cruise control and bags to mine for commuting and touring. Suzuki either by coincidence or accident have basically created a baby sport touring bike more than a sports bike.
Ninja 650, R7, GSX8R... all sport tourers my man. Calling them sportsbikes just because they got fairings is a crime ,_, Despite being sport tourers the Hayabusa and the Blackbird are closer to sportsbikes then those 3 are.
I bought the gsx8r when it first came out, and I really liked it! Installed the full Akrapovic exhaust on it, got the ecu flashed by TST industries, and it rode fantastic! But I did sell it back to the dealer for a 2024 ZX-10R. I just missed the super sport feel. I’ve always had CBR 600’s and wanted something more, and with the opportunity to get a liter bike finally I couldn’t help myself :) Great video!
I'm going to get this bike next season. I've rode a cruiser the past two years and am looking at a comfortable sport bike that isn't too aggressive in posture. This bike fits the bill perfectly.
Kirk I just want to say I love your content from import cars and now motorcycles, I respect that it’s not easy. But thank you and please be careful brother
Ive only had Honda's and Yami's for Japanese rockets. Ive always liked the white GXR's. They just look sexy and cool w/ the white wheels and colored highlights. I dawn a V4S these days. 🥰 My precious.😘
I have a 2024 CBR 500R and the TFT Screen/windshield vibrates a lot and make an annoying sound around 4-5 thousands RPM to a point it's annoying, at least for me. I think it's a parallel twin problem , vibrates a lot.. Going for an inline 4 CBR 650R next season
I ride in FL every day of the year. Rain? Yup. Sure, elevation change is hard to come by around here (minimal hills) but there are plenty back roads you can find that are twisty.
4:50 On the mirrors, my absolute favorite stock mirrors are from Aprilia on the RSV4. Just well done, Honda is not bad, Triumphs are good, Ducati's SUCK. Seriously w/ the exception of the Multistrada the Panigale's mirrors vibrate so bad you cant tell what your looking at and they feel cheap. Add to that they don't move. Probably the worst of the bunch but as we say "you don't look back on a ducati" LOL no one says that i just made it up . HA and i do look back. I cant be caught off guard.
I think it would be cool to continue the review into your first minutes back on the ninja. As in, do you start missing the torque? Appreciate being back to the inline 4? What I'm saying is that getting onto your own bike might make you realise things you did/didn't like on the other bike but might not have noticed in the moment.
This is the bike that got me into the dealership looking for a Japanese sport bike, I'm used to cruisers and standards. I ended up buying the zx4rr instead.
I would pick 270 degree twin sport bikes like r7 and this over the zx4rr for city riding. I like the 270 twin sound, good mpg, less heat, and easily accessible torque. Zx4rr low torque and no hp unless high rpm, to me it is like those riced out civic, sounds really fast but not going anywhere
For neutral finding at a stop, try rolling bike backwards a a few inches to a foot or so. I've found this works well for bikes with stubborn gearboxes.
@KirkKreifels you are right about the price, but I would still save a little more to get the R9. Same type of street focused bike with super sport looks, but more HP and torque, and I'm digging those front wings on the R9.

There are three Toyotas of the bike world, and one Honda. Also I wouldn't call the company that made the Hayabusa "nothing insanely exciting", even tho Suzuki's biggest problem is arguably the fact that they keep the same bike in production for like 20 years, so they eventually become boring and outdated vs the competition. Probably doesn't lean into the turns as easy because longer wheel base but that's much better on the freeway imo

The "pull" you feel letting the clutch out is the Suzuki low rpm assist. My SV650 has it also.
Is it defeatable? I'd get used to it but I prefer to play more.

Great video! I have the 8R! Torque is nice on this bike! Great mirrors, too lol
Zx4rr is too nimble, it gets head shakes. Threw a forum member on the ground last week. I've experienced it too. I suggest a steering damper.
Demo rode one back in September on a Suzuki demo days, decent bike However I preferred the 8S
You bike is way better looking. Most all new bikes need new mufflers. Vibration? Nice to have a connection at a dealership!
Yes lots of vibes compared to the i4 ninja... but I noticed it initially and never again... meaning it's not invasive.

The stop signs in Florida, have they been cancelled or just ignored for some reason?
Man, idk if I could ride in FL. So flat, no twisty roads, no elevation change…
And the humidity. Any stop and go traffic would be horrible.
