    You guys really killed it! Use of cargo net bags and little details. I fish all over US, single also so I'll have "extra" space and less bed. But recovery tools, and the raising of body with tires and axle! And I gotta have glass! (windows) A smaller trailer will allow me to still get further out I think vs a larger taller one and you've demonstrated it can be done and comfortably.
    I had a bear huff at my tent wall one night and need something a little more secure then nylon and bugger then my SUV which I sleep in when in bear territory. I enjoy your use and how you configured outside living. Like the fold out shelf!. And the multiple awnings!
    Really nice ...Rescue Wagon and outstanding presentation! You are immensely helpful in helping me make a wiser choice for size and build! Thank you for that!

      Thanks so much for watching! I am paranoid about wild life at night, which is exactly why we converted a cargo trailer. I love pop-ups, but I want to be fully enclosed. I think I would freak out if I heard a bear and I was in a tent!!! Glad we were able to help.

    A truly bespoke camper with superb ergonomics.
    Your build is clearly the outcome of a considerable amount of thought, and you've paid particular attention to keeping the weight down, something which many builders overlook.
    Utilising the exterior of the camper makes camp life considerably easier, it also keeps the interior uncluttered.
    The 5x8 trailer makes for the best compromise between having a compact on road footprint for ease of towing and manoeuvring and sufficient internal space for comfortable camp living.
    As the camper isn't insulated, I assume that you don't camp in winter.
    Thank you for sharing your outstanding build, which also has a neat, individual appearence.
    Your lovely custom Rescue Wagon is wonderfully simple and simply wonderful!

      Thank you for watching. We have camped with overnight temps in the 20's, which was quite comfortable. The trailer does have some insulation that installed by the manufacturer, but I'm not sure what the R value is. We appreciate your kind words, and thanks for watching!!!

    even the little matress modules
    are a fine idea.
    there is one thing i do not like about such a trailer...
    it makes people envy and it attracts bad guys (like thieves).
    but surely in America it is not as bad as in Europe/Germany.
    So i plan to make for me and my dogs "a camp-trailer in disguise"
    (even the Windows will be not seen as such)
    I wish you all the best, visiting good old mother nature and being together as family!

    This is almost exactly what I want to build!

  • @garymittelstadt7821
    @garymittelstadt7821 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I built out a 5x10 trailer primarily for hunting. So rainy, snowy, cooler weather is expected. I originally used an oversized cot (remarkably comfy), but was a bit crowded in the cold evenings when I wanted to be inside. So I mounted the cot frame to a 2x4 frame (minus the legs) and made a fold up bed. Now I have plenty of room for s camp chair for an evening read with a beer or morning coffee and breakfast. A lot easier to get dressed and undressed. The bed stows away except when I actually use it, providing the entire floor space for living room.

    • @befreebensondiy
      @befreebensondiy  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a very creative solution. Maximizing space is definitely essential. Thanks so much for watching and sharing!

  • @Jollyprez

    #1 son is living full-time in a 5'x10' cargo trailer camper. He has a little more height than you, so he can sit without being in bed. Utilizing the OUTSIDE is extremely important, and I don't think most people figure that out - certainly not as well as you guys. The only issue with your set-up for my son is that he parks in cities and would have to worry about parts getting stolen. That constrains his options a bit.

    What was the trailer you stated with? 🤔 Did you go with an all aluminum ultralight utility trailer to start? I have a vehicle that also maxes out around 2000 pounds tow capacity and I'm trying to do something very similar, almost identical to your minimal but well-thought-out build. I want to road trip and visit places but I don't intend to live out of it for long periods of time. A week or so at most because I can't afford to quit my job yet. I also love how if you pull the bed out you can still use the trailer as its original use for cargo. Renovating my house and I have so many uses for a utility trailer. I'm really curious if you would recommend the brand you purchased and what model this is. It looks very well put together

    • @befreebensondiy
      @befreebensondiy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching and sharing!!! This is a steel framed 5x8 slanted V-nose with a straight axel that weighs in at approximately 900 pounds from the manufacturer. It is a Solid Rock brand trailer that was purchased through Southern Trailer Depot (Clay Rhode 912-253-0850) in Douglas Georgia. I have been very happy with the quality of construction. It really is a great way to experience so much in such a compact design.
