I did 2 tedx talks and coach many speakers since.
I did t use slides at all.
It’s harder to keep there attention but at the same time I did t want to stumble with slides and to be honest, no slides keeps the attention to the message, the content, the story.
    Delivery conversational
Is a great tip and indeed important!
    Good video dear fellow 😊

Thanks Rachel! And that's right, anyone that wants to use slides has to ask themselves: "What's the point?" The slide must add significant value to the talk. For example:
      > While telling the story of someone working their way out of poverty, you could show just one slide showing their living conditions at that time to help the audience really understand their situation.
      > Or maybe a talk on climate change features a slide with one startling statistic for the audience to consider, or even a countdown timer for emphasis.
You should be able to remove the slides and still have an excellent talk. But adding a few in, if chosen carefully, should give your talk extra impact without distracting from you at all.

Useful tips. Thank you. More distracting to me than the "spider feet" is the constant hand gestures while presenting.

Glad you found this useful! Honestly any highly repetitive or frantic movement is the problem. Just have to breathe, stay calm, and stay grounded.

Thanks Fia, Embedding the stories is tough though

Totally understand where you're coming from - but there are some methods you can try that might help! We have another video in this series specifically for Storytelling: TED Series: th-cam.com/video/BWMqoAYzWOk/w-d-xo.html
