I have to be honest, I always thought the SA-X was a bunch of separate enemies that were hardcoded for each particular area where she can spawn. If you tried to spawn her outside of her normal spawning locations, it just wouldn't work, and she'd expect walls and platforms where there aren't any. Huh.

i think there is a reason why they never implemented a chase sequence through the tunnels in morph ball mode, and that might be because it has problems going up and down (and maybe time constraint limitations), would be neat if there was something like SA-X in a future game where it also has all of Samus' strengths (and maybe a hidden ace in the hole) where it could chase you anywhere seemingly without cease until it looses interest of you for a time.

Fascinating. I wonder if we're seeing the ghost of a scrapped dynamic chase, but it was too difficult to implement so the encounters were heavily scripted.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure there's an old article about SA-X being able to run around the whole ship. Encounters were randomized. It's archived on Metroid Database somewhere. Either from E3 2001 or somewhere early.

I used freeze codes on an emulator to get it + power bombs, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get back to the upper rooms and this scenario wouldn't have been possible. So in other words, I cheated those items. You get the ice beam at the very end of the game to beat the omega metroid. So it's actually not any special. But it's still interesting to see, that it does actually freeze normal enemies, even though you never got to try that in the original game. However, I can imagine that the scenario shown in the video would somehow be reproducable in the original game via memory corruption, but I didn't know about that back then. (Actually I think in 2017 nobody knew about memory corruption in metroid fusion yet lul) I just had a lot of fun playing around with the SA-X' ai and tried to push it with all kinds of items.
