Used a similar commercially-made clip-on system for a few years. My garage door mechanic urged me to remove it. It adds a substantial amount of weight to the the door, and makes the mechanism work harder than it's designed to . . . especially in FL where we have heavy, hurricane-resistant doors to begin with.
