      @@FishinNStuff have you ever tried or contemplated building a center console t-top out of pvc??

    • @FishinNStuff
      @FishinNStuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@Johnny-sv5fc I have thought about it . But I used pvc years ago for tomatoe stacks and in the middle of the summer when it got up in the 90s the weight of the tomato plant combined with the heat of the sun made em lay right down on the ground flat . And I don't want people watching to spend that kinda money if it won't work you know . I have also thought about using metal wire conduit. It would be strong , light , cheap and it won't rust . But everyone can't weld . I'm still thinking on the subject though

    Sir - I found your channel recently while looking for some fishing stuff videos. I recently moved to a lake and took up fishing ;-) . I've done my fair share of 5 gallon bucket and PVC hacks for tools in the garage and what not but your use for fishing is awesome! Gonna steal the toaster over to flatten some PVC this weekend, don't tell my wife. BTW and if it helps...if you ever need to bend a longer piece of PVC, if you heat up sand in the oven, put a cap on one end of the PVC and pour the hot sand into the pipe, let it heat up a bit and you can bend the PVC pipe to the the curve you want. Love your channel, love your style, keep up the good work. I tip my hat to you.

    Here is one I did. 6in 7 1/2ft. (Depending on rod length) a end cap, a locking type cap on other end . I left mine white because of sun heat. Mounted to the roof rack of my teardrop camper and now I can leave my fishing poles in one piece and the reels on. No damage ,no tangle with other gear. Good show, I like easy hacks. Thanks for sharing.

    Another wood stew hack is to coat the threads of the wood screw with bar soap. Smooth screwing after that. Less wear and tear on the drill and supposedly eliminates wood split.

    Great hacks. I am going to pass them along to a friend who is looking to make something to hold his fishing rods. I designed pontoons for his kayak from 4 inch pvc that connected to 1 1/4 pvc that fit inside a lenth of 1 1/2 pvc that is mounted on his kayak. He is disabled with a broken back and cannot swim but loves to fish. The pontoons give him stability on the water.

    around 2 decades ago i had a 6 month trip in & around the gulf of mexico on a USN ship. our speed was slow enough that we could troll for fish. so before we left norfolk,va. i built 2 outriggers out of 1 inch pvc pipe. used 2 8 foot pieces for the outrigger portion. made a 8 inch T at the base for on the ship. put a 90 degree joint on the over the water end. drilled 2 holes in the over water end. one was to lift the outrigger in & out for use. the second line was a closed loop thru a pulley as the clip release. worked beautifully.

    Something you could try: when splitting your pvc pipe lengthwise, you could do it on a table saw with a panel blade, with the rip fence adjusted to half the pipe diameter. Makes for a straighter cut, for less waisted material, and cleaner finished projects.

    I'mmm baaack. lol I can save you a trimming step on your PVC "angle iron" project. Make yourself a wood jig with two pieces of wood parallel to each other. (You could do the mark with just one piece of 2x2 or 2x4 straight edge if you play it right. OR just use your angle press jig for your pencil mark straight edge.)
    Before heating the PVC pipe lay the cold pipe on the jig and pencil mark a straight line on the PVC. Then scissor cut the hot PVC on your straight line you drew. If you're careful you can get the center of the PVC right on the point of your angle press. You have a lot of great ideas. love it.

    1 1/2 angel
    1 1/2 PVC

    Cut a point on the angle
    Lay the PVC in the angle and run in the screws.

    For the bumper hack. If you replace the 90's in the hull hook part (on the outer/waterside) with T's and then use narrower PVC connector pieces from the bumper frame that have a series of holes in it you could make it height adjustable with cotter pins.

    • @danimalscreationsandadvent8049
      @danimalscreationsandadvent8049 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I said the very same thing in the premier chat.
      Only rather than drilling holes i was thinking heavy o-rings for quick adjustment. Although holes with hitch pins would ensure no accidental slippage. I'd use hitch pins or hair pins over cotter pins. The cotter pins require bending which can be a pain in the butt and over time can break.
      Also instead of having to buy different size pipe or fittings, use a die grinder or drill with a flapper drum and ream out the inside of the T's. I did that on a pvc project and it worked out well.

    Love all the amazing ideas that you share on this channel. You may have already done this, but have you considered designing something to protect rod tips on a kayak (maybe out of pvc)? I hate getting near trees when the rods are in the rod holders, so I lay them down on the floor of the kayak, but they slide all over the place. Would be great if the tips slid into a protective sleeve of some sort. Anyway, thought if anybody could design something, it would be you. Keep up the awesome work.
