I plugged the RCA side into the audio interface and plugged the other side into the aux input on the monitors themselves. I can confirm this works and it’s even smart enough to pan audio from on monitor to the next through your DAW, if you wanted to mix in mono

      Hey S C! Thank you for stopping by and watching the review :) To answer your question, these speakers should be able to handle low registers on a pipe organ. • @Joehly
      @Joehly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Vegeta SSB2, I saw your email, but I'll go ahead and respond to your question here. The only way you could use headphones at the same time is to have an audio interface. You can use any audio interfaces to do this. There so many of them these days, but for the best bang for the buck(Quality+Price+EaseOfUse), I would go with a *Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Interface* which you can check out more pictures/specs/reviews here ----> amzn.to/2Ww0u3e
      Most audio interfaces come with 1/4" headphone jack, but there is an easy, cheap, and quality solution by getting an 1/8' to 1/4" adapter.
      You can check out an adapter here ---> amzn.to/2MHddfg
      I hoped that helped bro. Let me know if you have any other questions or need any help. Btw, I'm a huge Dragon Ball fan lol 😃

    Is it still good enough for a home studio if i only connect it with the aux, or will it be the same as regular speakers? Like, do i have to use an audio interface to get a high quality sound?

    • @Joehly
      @Joehly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey JewSueFlex, the speakers should be more than enough for a home studio connected with just the aux. I wouldn't worry about sound quality so much since laptops or computers these days have good enough sound cards. The major advantages of an audio interface in my opinion would be the connectivity options such as being able to listen to a session simultaneously from your speakers and headphones. When connecting just by aux, it forgoes the option to listen to a session from headphone and speakers unless you unplug the speakers and plug in the headphones. Also, audio interfaces allow you to adjust the volume for both outputs. You also can plug in insruments/mics and have control over volume with an audio interface. These are some things to keep in mind, but using the speakers by plugging with the aux is fine if you're okay with not having these options. I hoped that helped bro :)

    • @Joehly

      That's cool you'll be possibly using thee iloud speakers with your stage piano. The speakers should go well with your piano. The speakers should be able to handle moderate levels. I would start low with the gain and work your way up just like you would be mixing music until you find the sweet spot that matches the frequencies to the style of music you play.

    Hey man,
    I recently purchased the micro monitors. I love them! I just had a couple questions: I've tried running them both directly into the headphone port on my macbook and into my apogee audio interface using rca to 1/4 connectors. they both sound great, but It seems to be clipping quite easily. Listening to pop music or my mixes which are jazz/hip hop oriented I have the volume set at 0 on the iloud and even with the output level at around noon I will see red lights flashing especially if there is promiment bass. Is this normal? I have it plugged into a power strip right now, and I'm assuming it's properly grounded. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
    Mark

    • @Joehly
      @Joehly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mark, I hear what your saying. The speakers run quite and the output is quite sensitive. You have to really fine tune how much you turn up your audio interface before it hits red. There should be a sweet spot on your Apogee on how much you can turn up the dial. It'll be small, but you should be able to find it with some testing. I was able to with my audio interface. I hope that helped bro

    Hey man one more question! Do you find that if you leave the speakers on, when you put your computer to sleep or when it’s just idling they will make a sporadic loud popping noise? It happens kind of randomly for me but it’s annoyingly. It’s not super loud but loud enough to startle me if I’m not expecting it. Do you turn yours off every time you’re not using them?

    • @CuratedGiftIdeas
      @CuratedGiftIdeas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mark, you bring up a good point. There is some noise when you let the speakers idle or when you put your computer to sleep with the speakers on. The best solution I could find for this is to turn the speaker gain as low as possible that is loud enough for monitor playback, music production, or just plain listening to music. This minimizes any noises that comes from the speakers. I hope this helped Mark
      If anyone who sees this has any other solutions, please feel free to share with us below.

    • @markjdover
      @markjdover 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CuratedWear thanks for this! That makes sense. The only thing is after talking to you about the clipping I emailed the company and they recommended I turn the gain up all the way so there’s less signal coming from my interface/cpu. In which case the idle noise is even louder than before when I had the gain at noon. Lol Oh well will keep experimenting! Thanks a lot

To answer your question, unless you are a super Engineer with ears like Super Man, then it's gonna be tough to tell the difference in sound quality. If you're PC or Mac has a pretty up to date sound card, then it should sound good just like using an interface. Hey Howard, for the bang for the buck especially for the sound quality and convenience in size/transport, these monitors are definitely worth it. Whether you're making music on the go or you have a set studio, you can't go wrong with these especially with the price range. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help bro

    can you hook up a sub to them if so how?

    • @Joehly
      @Joehly  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dexter, its possible to hook them up to a sub, but you're going to need the cables I recommended and an audio interface. The cables from the speakers will plug into the sub and from the sub, they will be another set of audio cables that will plug into your audio interface to receive the audio signal.
      That's pretty much in a nutshell. I hoped that helped bro. Let me know if you have any questions or need anything :D
