Janken Castle - Complete without the magic staff! - Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX

- Janken's Castle can be difficult to make your way through if you don't know what you're doing. Don't worry about collecting money just focus on making it to the end with your few precious lives. Here I show how you can easily get to the end without needing any special items like the magic or floating wand.
*NOTE* I was looking for secret areas in this castle when recording, I edited out the silly bits of me jumping and punching most walls to keep it short and to the point, you do not need to explore anywhere else to complete this stage!

Wish I knew this earlier like 1991 when I was six playing this part. That spiked area killed me. Child hood game had it built in the Sega master system.

Yeah it took me forever to figure out the top ones are fake and don't hurt, and I stopped playing for awhile cause I kept dying there! Glad you can make it through now!
@@UnbrokenOdds yeah the game has been on my backlog for 30 years 🤣 finally finished it now. There’s no way anyone could finish the original because it puts you right at the beginning of the game when you die haha

It's a bit cheap but you can jump over the boss after avoiding his first projectile and casually punch him in the butt until he's a gonner.

1:51 If you punch the wall on the right side of the room (where you enter), you can make a hidden block appear in the spike pit that lets you grab the ?-blocks.
Everyone complains about the spike room but I believe making that jump around the 5:00 is tough. Timing needs to be perfect
Agreed, that part can easily eat all your lives
I usually try to save the Teleport Powder (invincibility powerup) for that bit.

@@RockyRaccoon1122 it's definitely doable, just takes a good amount of practice as the timing is quite difficult.

Man the spikes at 3.47 killed me. I just sat there and wondered what the fuzz. I completed this on master system but can’t do so now 😂
Yeah it took me a long time to figure out that the top ones are fake and don't hurt you, I kept dying trying to perfectly swim in between them for so long!

@@UnbrokenOdds same,i had to enable unlimited lives and thinker for a while until i figured it out,its very easy once you know the trick,now im passing without dieing on first try.
@@DraganMKD87 you mean the one at 3.50? It took me years to crack it on the Master System, but I am quite convinced that it can't be done on the Switch, at least not by my aging reaction times!
Omg I was stuck in the spike room and gave up and quit the game now I have to do the whole castle again because it's save system doesn't have points, got to admit if you played the original which I did back in the late 80s early 90s. Back then Alex had the awful lag when moving like he would slide when you too your hand off the controller in this still bloody does it
Lol i guess that means they really did a good job recreating it? Hopefully you make it past there this time, it took me a long time to figure out but once I did never died there again. Whole different story for the acid that falls down Lol

@@UnbrokenOdds I have not felt this satisfied beating a game in a long time. I think it's because of the 3 lives and insane difficulty, while Alex just floats around everywhere almost out of control.
Haha awesome! Yeah the easy deaths and 3 lives make it a lot more challenging, I'm just so thankful that it's not like the original that if you died three times you started all over again

Where’d you find the invincibility? It just appears randomly during a transition haha. Did you buy it earlier or find it in the level?
I found it in the level, sorry cut out where I got it cause I died a bunch of times, it's down the ladder after the section with the water, but basically have to do the water section with the spikes twice if you want to get it

Hello there is a way or a secret for pass this stage?
Basically the only secret is that when you reach the spikes under water, the top ones won't hurt you, so if you swim below them and let Alex float up, you'll just bounce off them and be able to pass easily, otherwise if you have the magic wand item you can use it to skip this section entirely instead of dropping down into the water but you won't be able to get the skateboard item then
Can't pass the spikes under water. How do you pass them??
The top spikes are essentially fake, they won't hurt you, the bottom spikes and the ones on the side will kill you instantly, so swim under the edge of the top ones, then let Alex float up and into the spikes, then just use left and right to navigate, don't try and swim in the middle
Just beat this game no continues. Did not realize you can crouch walk under tiles! How did you do that?
It's actually a little tricky, but you have to run towards the block and duck at the last second, your momentum will push you underneath and then the game will let you keep moving either left or right until you get back out, usually takes me a few tries to get it
Good to know. There was a place in the 1st castle I wanted to use the staff to fly up to but couldn’t get there because I couldn’t figure out how to get under those blocks. I’m going to have to try that next playthrough.

@@UnbrokenOdds That would have been good, but I think Sega just wants to go the old way. Since there are save points in this version, I do not see a problem with level select. Most companies do not pay attention to what fans want.
I just cant do the jump at 5 minutes and land on the block and kill the frog at the same time
my first time i have try to doing the game without buy shop items / lifes , start the castle with only 3 lifes it's really a pain, but i am doing one another playtrough where i farm money / lifes / items for try the castle more good , the only problem is i have to leave the game on one level if i loose one life , reload the cloud save and retry , and if i doing a mistake save cloud or reload i am good to restart from the beginning , there is no usb save on ps5.
Wow that's doing a lot to try that! Were you able to beat the castle? You should be able to do it without items, just need to be careful with those jumps and watch that acid!
i am at the castle jankens with 11 lifes , the cane magic , but it's not the underwater the problem is really easy it's the first door with water killing me a lot of times it's really short to punch the rocks for pass.
Yeah that one gave me trouble too, you need to catch it on the downward part of the jump at just the right time
That jump at 2:09 is the most disgusting thing I had to do in my life!
How do you duck and crawl in the game?
If feels like a glitch Lol but it was in the original. You have to run and duck just as you reach the blocks, you will go under and keep moving. It usually took me a few tries to get it

In the castle? Yeah I was stuck there for a long time too. The top spikes won't hurt you, so swim low under the first couple then let Alex float up and you'll be fine, don't try and swim down at all or you'll die, just to the sides and you'll make it! Good luck!

This level is purely disgusting... I rammed through the first 19 levels in 2,5 hours (~25 years ago I could beat the game on SEGA Master System II., so I'm quite familiar with the game), the very first retry appeared after the 15th level. I'm stuck in this shxt for hours, I was able to reach Janken with 3 lives, and...
Sometimes the control is randomish (first acid fall, instad of small jump a big one, pipipip), practically I'm able to die at any point of the level.
Yeah the acid falling down caused me a lot of deaths we well, sometimes punching the blocks and sometimes not, I feel for you if can be rough!

The top spikes are an illusion they don't hurt you if you float straight up into them, took me forever to figure that out to pass that section

This wasn't all the same gameplay. You changed up the footage a few times. Would have been nice to see a clean walkthrough. Don't blame you though. It's an extremely hard level.
Yeah, when I was recording I was looking for secrets so I was jumping and punching the walls a lot which I figured no one wanted to see since there wasn't any secrets to be found and it just made it a lot longer

Thank you I appreciate that. Yeah some of those jumps are annoying when he feels a little floaty, and it took me so many attempts to figure out how to make it through those spikes

yeah, I cut out the deaths so the video wouldn't take so long, I died a lot at the acid falling down in this stage, timing those jumps and punches was a real pain, hope you made it through!
