Keto Connect...hey guy's im new to your channel can you please show some before and afters, or do you have a link to your previous pictures of your weight ..plz do a video if possible . or point me in the correct direction
Mistakes for people that don't want to watch. None of them are specific legit problems, just generic issues. Like horoscopes. 0:30 1. Not focusing on how you feel 0:54 2. Thinking it's just about the food 1:57 3. Forcing things 2:50 4. Being afraid to make mistakes 3:33 5. Comparing yourself to others 4:00 6. Picking a side 5:20 7. Working around your problems 7:03 8. Snacking 8:20 9. Perfection over consistency 10:44 10. Putting pleasure over health
My biggest mistake is continuously weighing myself. I promised myself I would only do it once a week, but then get tempted every other day. When I don't see immediate progress (retaining fluid) I get disappointed.
Yes! My worst problem. I weighed myself everyday and just forced myself to stop and weigh every Sunday. Hiding my own scale under my bed so its out of sight, out of mind.
I haven't weighed one time in the full 2 weeks I've been on Keto. This time, I just want to go by how I feel and track my food on MyFitnessPal. Let the process happen and trust that it will. Keep on the path and expect to get to where I want to be. It's working so far. I find that slow scale progress can really undermine my happiness.
Just want to 'Thank' the two of you! I started keto a year ago on Sept. 14...lost 43 pounds, all numbers 'normal' BMI 'normal' first time in over 50 years. Why am I thanking you? Because from day one I have followed you two along with dozens of others on TH-cam and I have picked three favorites of which you are #1. I like your approach and honesty. I strayed twice in almost a year and paid the price! Thanks again.
Touching on #9. I'd go as far as say don't worry about being keto 24/7. If you break keto it's not the end of the world. The next day is an opportunity to get back in it. It's about the long term.. If you're fat adapted you'll find yourself able to get back in to keto very easily.
I agree. My tip would be don't give up and listen to your body. I've been mostly Keto for 3 years. By mostly I mean I sometimes eat LCHF because my body craves foods and I listen. Sometimes I want fruits or beans and I eat some. A very little in comparison to how most people eat nowadays. I've lost over 100 lbs since I changed my eating habits.
Just imagine that every time you eat carbs, the nerves in your feet are dying and your insulin resistance goes up. If you fuck up enough, you get to see your feet get sawed off. Diabetes, yay! But seriously, just remember that pain is an illusion. We out-survived Neanderthal because we did better in starvation circumstances. We didn't need grains or sugar, we didn't need 3 meals a day and we didn't need breakfast. We needed to lodge a spear in that deer's ass so we can have the energy to trek hundreds of miles. That's what we are. We're fuckin' resilient! You're stronger than you think you are.
#1 Stick to it with no cheating for the first 6 weeks, evaluate how you feel, if you cheat, evaluate again, was it worth it? . #2 Keep calm and keto on
Kara Leeann I was doing keto for 2 months and just had a cheat day....and then cheated the next day too 💩 Do I regret it? No. I say no because it helped me realize what I had left behind when I started keto. I started having stomach issues which I hadn't experienced since starting keto. I had a lack of energy compared to my normal fat fueled days. Lastly, while I was gaining weight, my wallet was losing it! I ended up spending X amount of dollars on items I didn't need. Butterfinger and sour Skittles as a snack throughout the workday? Sure why not, might as well make the cheat day worth it. Then the next day it was Mac and cheese and then nachos later on. I'm not proud of what I did but I do not regret it. If anything, this is motivation to stay true to the keto diet. I lose/maintain my weight, my wallet stays fat while I stay thin, and who doesn't love more bacon and avocado?
I actually did do that. Started for the new year and was doing great, not even using artificial sweeteners or anything. Then super bowl Sunday came around and yeah... had my little indulgent moment, and the next Monday was worse than my first hangover. Yeah, I’m sticking to keto and not doing that again.
Started Jan 16, 2020. Did cheat in a way, but very minimal like a bite of cookie or a bite of a Nonketo food but did not have an actual whole meal of cheat or whateva
You enjoy those few minutes, then you feel the guilt, then you get the physical effect and feel awful for hours. Not really worth it, keeps me away from that drug called sugar. Keto's pseudo junk food is so much better as a treat each week.
First time I decided to go off piste and have a little non keto "treat" for Christmas?? What a big let down. Tastebuds have altered and sugar tates horrible now. 😋
@@ladyB59 I love sugar, I don't like the furry feeling in my mouth the the other natural sugars give - but it is true your taste buds change so even things with sugar taste weird now - but at the same time I crave sweet Ahhhhh! just new at this keto thing - it will take time I guess
I commented a bit ago asking...my doctor was really on me about my high triglycerides and cholesterol...being diabetic...what would keto do to me because of the high fat...well my labs came back this week and holy cow...still loosing weight...cholesterol down a lot ...triglycerides way down...A1C 5.6...I cant believe this guys...keto is changing my life...wow!
my daughter has had the same amazing results as a type 2 - DR is thrilled with her results so far. she is soo much healthier now and to think I was against it when she told me she was going Keto. Watching her has changed my mind.
Cholesterol is produced in the body in response to the kind of fats one eats. Fish, nuts and some butters have the right kind of fats, which can better your cholesterol.
Since starting Keto, my husband’s grandmothers A1C level went from 14 to 5. She’s now considered “pre-diabetic”. Her doctor was SHOCKED and told her that whatever she’s doing KEEP DOING! Diabetes runs in both our family and we feel so great physically and mentally since doing this!
Number 10 hit me. Putting pleasure before health. Eating treats makes me feel good for a second and then it's over and the guilt sets in. Not worth it.
For me it is a need to self medicate in a way .. Let's say I'm having a bad day or , just upset about something in general ,sugary starchy foods were like a drug for me ,and for the 5 or 10 minutes I am eating that unhealthy food it makes me feel sooooo good . but like Jeanna said , after I eat them I feel guilty, so its not worth it ...Doing keto I don't get those urges anymore
I have to confess. I watch obese people do mukbangs... and this keep me from eating things I should not eat. Seeing them, keeps me in check. Sorry if you’re obese. I don’t mean to sound offensive. If you are, take your will and reevaluate your habits. Take one day at a time. Your will is your way!
*It's so easy to fall into these common mistakes without even realizing it. Your explanations were clear, and I appreciate the practical tips to avoid them. Great video!*
My big mistake relates partly to accountability: I was using an artificial sweetener and refused for months to admit it was preventing further weight loss. Also, I started using more and more, and it wasn't until I started to _gain_ weight that I finally admitted I had to do without it. People often react that way to one or more of the artificial sweeteners, but I was convinced it wasn't affecting _me,_ lol!
Re: Snacking. I find that having a plate prepared a few hours in advance of my evening relaxation time helps keep me on track. usually, it's just a simple charcuterie plate and some Earl Grey or chamomile tea. It really helps to have it as a ritual because it has trained my body not to expect anything else after that.
I did keto for 4 months last year and all of January this year. I'm giving IF a shot. Thanks for all the help though Keto Connect, you guys rock. If this doesn't pan out I'll be back. Keto changed my life but got old. Also, for me it's not so much my eating window I'm worried about (still at least 14hrs though) or macros but my caloric deficit. Have to admit having pizza again (in moderation) is.. an experience after no carbs for months.
I eat twice a day. I don’t eat my first meal until 12 to 1. It wasn’t intentional at first I just noticed I was doing it and now I just do it everyday.
Starting in middle school I would intermittent fast without thinking about it. I was just too lazy to get up early enough to eat breakfast. I'd rush to get ready and not eat until my lunch period. This has continued into my adult working life as I have social anxiety and don't always feel comfortable eating at work. Before I learned about just how negative carbs can be to weight loss and about intermittent fasting, the only successful weight loss I had I wasn't even trying. I started my very first job and had so much anxiety I could barely eat anything. So instead of bringing a lunch or buying one, I just didn't eat. I went from my heaviest ever 260, down to my lowest ever (until recently) 209. Eventually I did gain 30-40 pounds back. And since I struggled to go down from 230-240ish and keep it off. Until I learned about intermittent fasting and cutting carbs drastically. I now stick around 200.
xinic5 please start taking pro and probiotics. Your anxiety can be from a lack of good bacteria. For instance Lactobacillus Helveticus R0052 is responsible for making serotonin, 90% of your serotonin is made in the gut. As well as dopamine. Make sure you’re getting sufficient bacteria back into your system. ✌🏻💕
I chained smoke and ate like crap for years. I started keto and quit smoking at the same time and the keto acc cancelled out my smoking withdrawal symptoms. I have so much energy on this diet and I love it. Thanks for the recipes.
I keep convenience foods out of the house, like nuts, nut butters, protein bars (Keto Bars, Quest), ice cream bars (So Delicious). If I do plan on eating nut butters, I make them myself in a food processor so that I can control the amount because I could finish half a jar in no time at all. I intentionally make it more "work" because it discourages me from eating it. When I stray from my diet, I do it over-eating keto or low-carb foods that are easy to grab from the fridge and pantry. I gave up chips, rice, bread, pasta, and all that carby goodness years ago and I haven't looked back. But that doesn't mean I don't have my low-carb temptations, too. Macadamia nuts are my weakness and I WILL eat every single one in the house. I know this about myself. For a long time I just tried going the ol' portion control route, but I realized that these foods in particular were huge triggers for me. Other than for holidays or special occasions, I don't buy them anymore. It's a lot easier to control myself at the grocery store than when I am alone in my house. Diets of deprivation are emotionally painful in the long term, so I don't ruthlessly restrict indulgences. I just try to manage my indulgences a little more responsibly.
Fasting can reset your appetite. We're quite spoiled and the food industry shoved this idea of '3 meals a day' and 'breakfast is the most important' into our heads. Truth is, you are designed to fast. There's absolutely no way ancient humans had 'breakfast'. They got up, went hunting, ate the old food, smoked the fresh meat, hiked 500 miles, ran out of food, kept going and after a couple days of 'forced fasting', they got another deer and took a small break to recover, before doing the entire process over again. Science shows that you're actually doing more damage if you never fast in your life, never allowing the crappy cells (the ones that cause dementia, cancer, diabetes, etc.) to be recycled via autophagy. I'd be more emotionally distraught about eating too much, than eating too little. Our ability to fast is probably why we survived and Neanderthal didn't.
manictiger YES!! THIS!! I came from a moderate carb vegan diet over to the keto side almost a month ago and have been doing the one meal a day to try to lose the last 10 pounds as well it has not worked but I noticed that I was getting very binge-y and eating too much at that one meal so I did a 48-hour water fast and then boom! I completely reset my appetite, .my motivation, everything.. as well as I lost 2 pounds :-)
I love quest bars! But there sooo expensive. So I eat about 25g of carbs bc my body can tolerate a bit more, but this is because I’m also a vegetarian, so I can be hard to be keto and vegetarian. So protein supplements that are high in protein are typically high in carbs. So I sacrifice just a few more carbs
Eating only 1 meal a day (no matter what it is) is NOT a good idea. Have at least 2 and be aware of what you are eating. This truly gets easier as time goes on! Good Luck! :)
I spent an inordinate amount of time the other day trying to make almond butter in a tiny food processor to get barely a cup. It is so precious to me as a result, I will only use a spoonful at a time.
My favorite thing about you both is how encouraging you are to others and how you take the attitude of finding your own path. It’s not common to have this kind of wisdom and especially at such a young age! Love your videos and advice. Thanks!!
Over-thinking it can be so easy to get caught up in. Your first point about listening to your body is great advice. My wife and I have been Keto since October and you two have been a big help. Inspiration and recipes. Really got spoiled when you were posting ever day for the 21 day challenge. Keep the great content coming!
I started keto a month ago. I pretty much eat same menu every day. It's a learned thing since I was a kid trying to lose weight. I eat morning 9 am Ice coffee no sugar base 1 creamer, 25 pecans, 1 ketobomb as I'm at work. I eat again at 5 PM a leafy salad, 3 oz. Chicken mixed in and 3 tables. Blue cheese dressing., On weekends I have 2 eggs breakfast mashed with mayo and supper is a salad described above with bacon added. On weekends I have 2 squares of 85 percent dark choc each nite. I did the calories it wrks to be about 1100 day and I sometimes hit 20 carbs or a little over. I've lost 11 pounds in a month and I'm sedentary due to a bum hip. So yeah I'm looking to keep it up until I lose 50 lbs then I will see how I feel. Feedback is welcome.
Love your videos and this one is one of the best! Thanks for all your efforts. I'm over 50 and am down 15 pounds and have 10 more to go. Hubby is down 10 and has 40 more. We feel good and have more energy. No more naps and sleep very well at night. I do yoga not a gym person. This is a life long change for us. Thanks again!
My biggest mistake starting keto was making to many of the recipes and not keeping it simple.. the recipes when starting out can really put your macros out of wack, way to high of calories etc and you don't lose the weight... if a person is overweight and wants to lose on keto keep it simple wait on the recipes out there until you lose a substantial amount that you are satisfied with or you will become discouraged.
I did that at first too, I was very enthusiastic lol. But that's not a bad thing. I keep it really simple now, just have a main meat and side veggies like spinach and broccoli
Wish I had done that.i went all out because hubby was hesitant and was used to home cooking but since he's down from 212 to 199 since Jan 15th he's a lot happier and on board about keto. His best friend just hit 100 lbs off since last Jan. We're in our early 70s and are really grateful for this lifestyle.
I was going in and out of ketosis for 2 weeks and had no idea what could be the cause since I was staying at about 10-12g of carbs per day. Turns out the only product that I didnt check the nutrition label for was cheese. Each slice of the Kraft Singles I was eating had 4g of carbs and I was eating about 6-8 per day as snacks or with eggs. As soon I changed the cheese to 0g carbs, Ive been in keto for 2 months now. So I would say make sure you read EVERY LABEL for nutrition information, even something you may never think has carbs. Thanks for the video.
kenessa robinson when processed cheese was developed, the most desired makes for it was embalmed cheese. Once I knew that I couldn't eat it. Ewwwwwwww.
Keto, CrossFit, and Netflix are my life. Just kidding but I love my tv time. I went keto and started CrossFit on January 1st. I’ve lost 22 pounds so far.
Kaila Fiske Your muscles will have worse performance at first, but after a few weeks you'll have more energy than ever. I just started keto and I have lots of energy, but my muscles are still adjusting so I don't do quite as well in my workouts
I started a classic ketogenic diet 3 month ago and one month ago swith to zero carb, carnivore diet. I feel much better with no veggie at all, energy, no stomach pain, light feeling after each meal, 0 cravings, sleep well .. i just feel so good in my body that i don't care anymore about my weight, i feel good in my body now and this is all i want . Thank for your channel :)
Great video first time watching y'all I'm on year two of the Keto 115lbs lost in my first I have a goal of 100lbs more yet I've realized workouts will have to be worked in to my life like it once was I've got this thank y'all again
I have been on keto for six months. In the first 4 months I lost 30 lbs and for the last 2 months I have essentially maintained my weight but haven’t been so strict with the food. However having said that I can say it was the easiest thing I’ve done. Once keto kicked in then I didn’t have the cravings or the constant hunger. So it really became easy to do. It certainly was easier than the starvation diets I’ve done in the past or waking up at 5am to go to the gym and none of them worked. This time with keto I really didn’t do any exercise at all. I lost it all through just basic principals of keto. Also I wasn’t gorging on bacon and meat all day long as other keto people have displayed. I am more of a Dr Berg follower and his food choices.
westfield90 I stopped following dr berg when I found out he and his wife are scientologists and donate huge amounts of money to that cult. tonyortega.org/2017/07/15/whale-watching-update-your-2017-mid-year-guide-to-whos-keeping-scientology-alive/
That makes me excited that it helps you feel better . I have pcos and the fluctuating hormones destroyed me weight wise. I feel defeated before I even started, now it's time I feel horrible. Looking forward to a "new normal"
one last comment :p but i love number 12, being accountable for yourself. When i first started keto, i was trying to make my partner get on board with me and it was hard because they were not into it like me and i kept using him as an excuse to have cheat meals...but over a time of trial an error, i now realize i am the only person who truly cares about my health and i have to make sure i do it for myself :)
Number 9 is definitely one Im still working on. I'm a perfectionist at heart (my poor 5 year old,) but he has taught me I can't control every aspect of life. There are going to be some days I get 25g of carbs instead of my normal 15-20g. I've learned to just go with it and not say "oh well I've already screwed up...now let me go find a Twinkie."
You guys are literally THE best. Quick to the point and real. I just started Keto three days ago from coming off of (what I felt) was the worst diet I’ve ever been on. Now I feel like I can eat real food and be on the right track to living a keto lifestyle. I’ve literally been binge watching all of your videos. Who needs Netflix when you have this channel. AM I RIGHT?!
I've noticed the over thinking and need for perfectionism on a couple of the keto fb pages. The artificial sweeteners kind of get me through certain days. Many frown against it. I try and stay away from the bad ones but and I read labels as much as I can but sometimes in a rush, I might miss an ingredient and might have eaten a whole bag of it before realization kicks in. I'm not going to sweat it if I'm still making progress. I actually unfollowed the pages that seem a bit too stringent. A lot less stress. But I've lost 10 lbs since December 31st. I'm now 10 lbs from my ideal and then I will work on adjusting for maintenance.
Katie Hecker Stuff like Maltodextrin kicks you out of Ketosis though so in that example it’s not a preference thing, it’s something people shouldn’t do.
I do stay away from maltodextrin, maltitol and the ones that really cause a spike in insulin. I do partake in erythritol and stevia mostly. I try to stay away from dextrose but if, let's say I'm traveling and there are no other options available...even though I try to avoid it, in a pinch I won't sweat it too badly. I have been doing this for about 2 months and haven't been kicked out of ketosis at any time thus far. So, I have been careful.
Katie Hecker I agree I don’t think it’s a big deal. I do Stevia mostly. I was actually kicked out of Ketosis after about two months in because my girlfriend made some Keto muffins with “baking stevia”. Basically it’s Maltodextrin with some stevia. I could not figure out why these muffins made me insanely hungry. Sure enough I could tell after two days I was out of Ketosis. Took me a bit to find out why.
Yeah, manufacturers want to make a buck. Reading labels is very important to make sure that you are ingesting the right things. Thankfully, I am the only real cook in the house so if I make a mistake, it's on me.
katie did yea the Russell Stovers sf chocolates got me last time. When it started saying “made with Stevia now” I took that as a go and couldn’t figure out why I stopped losing weight. I’m reading labels this time around.......now if I could just completely eliminate sucralose......
I started keto July 2016 lost 50lb . Went from a size 16 to a size 12. I eat a lot of keto approved sweets. I've kept the weight off. I don't track macros. You said something about how you feel so energized in a video and made me think. I bought more MCT oil and went back to basics tracking my macros. Unbelievable how I feel. I was so caught up in my weight loss I totally forgot about how good you feel when you are actually in ketosis. Point to all this is I started a keto diet and ended up on a low carb diet. Definitely not the same as far as how good you feel on a ketogenic diet. So don't be what they call lazy keto it really does make a difference!
I'm making the transition to keto and this is the best advice I've gotten so far as a newbie! For the last 2 weeks I've been consuming keto fats, drastically cutting back the carbs and withdrawing from splenda. This week I'm making the switch from diet pepsi to green tea. I'm taking things day by day and not obsessing over it all. Getting validation that I'm doing this the right way for me (naturally and realistically) helps a lot. Thanks!
I just started Keto about 2 weeks ago and I’m just slowly easing myself into it and it hasn’t been to hard, just have to get used to new changes. Meal preparation is key for me
Almost 3 months into Keto and absolutely love it. I have lost 44 lbs. and I am not that hungry. I stick with two meals a day and a chicken broth in the evening if I get really hungry. In the past, swimming laps made me so hungry so I am not doing that. I have 100 lbs. more to lose. My goal is to get in my 9/10 pants by Sept. 2019. I will be forever Keto because I have high blood pressure and I was a severe carb addict. I don't want to die. Wish me luck!
Your snack box ideas have really helped me. I’m a snacker.. movies, eating while doing meal prep.. having the snack box prepared ahead of time makes it so you don’t over eat. I’ve been doing your snack box ideas since December 9th and have lost 14.5 pounds. You’ve helped me get over the hump. Tumaro’s has a low carb tortilla which I center my net carbs around. I really enjoy them with eggs, tacos, turkey wraps.
I don't get Coke or Sprite Zero from fast food restaurants. I always feel like the workers will just give me regular Coke or Sprite. Only drink those out of the bottle. That's accountability.
Prohibitions Emerald Yes you can have it. They're zero calorie/carb drinks. Check Keto Connects sweetener video to see how safe they are for Keto though (doesn't seem to affect me much).
You both are fantastic. Everything about you guys. I’ve been doing keto for a month now and I haven’t fallen off, but there have definitely been some moments where I question it and find myself overwhelmed by diving too deep into all the macros and science and techniques…to the point of obsession. You guys keep it simple and grounded compared to other keto people in the world of TH-cam. You keep me focused and keep me on the path as I learn what does and doesn’t work for me. So… thanks. You rock.
Her face at "spinach coffee". Priceless. Also, when they bring up keeping an open mind... that's having a growth mindset vs having a fixed mindset. Important work. Knowing we always have more to learn is really powerful!
Thank you for all you do!! Why is my doctor and even my trainer against Keto long term? Is there any proof anything is wrong with it or they just saying it’s wrong because they don’t know?
Hi there I'm just starting keto today and did some meal prep for the week logged it all in myfitnespal and I'm over my 20 total carbs by about 15 any suggests on how to log properly? I did look for net carbs went I do log it
THANK YOU! I was feeling so guilty about being hungry while intermittent fasting. I love Dr. Berg too but getting the professional and "normie" perspective is soooo nice to have. I appreciate your honesty and your willingness to share the trials and errors. I will no longer be so hard on my self while still holding myself accountable #8 or was it 9? oh well... Thank you again!
I agree. One thing; IF is about fasting, the remaining 8h is about keto. They are 2 different states. If i sleep 8h, my day consists about 8h fasting and 8h keto...in the background. Because in fact 16h are filled with work, being a dad, life in general.
Really great list here. I love a lot of the keto channels out here on youtube, I find great information on each one of them. I find the 2 biggest mistakes I have made with the Keto WOE has been, one, forcing myself to eat too much just to get those macros in, and, second, thinking I had nothing more to learn with this way of life.
Eyelle Lucoop I did the same thing - forcing myself to eat when I wasn’t hungry, just to meet my macros. Now I realize I’m hungrier on some days than others; it’s ok to be under on one day, because I’ll break even at some point during the week.
i was really hesitant to start keto because it seemed so restrictive and intense - absolutely no wiggle room for slip ups, keto flu ect and because I absolutely hate coconut which seems to be in every keto recipe ever created lol but i started about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love it so far! It's been really easy to stick to and I haven't been battling cravings at all! I've found it much easier to be intuitive about my eating and I'm down 15lbs and feeling great (and sleeping so much better!)
I am just starting keto this week and I love your feelings on IF. I was talking to someone and they told me keto would never work for me because I eat 3 meals a day and I was taken aback. I'm a person who works 8-10 hours a day in a office and wake up at 4am to work out, so the idea of me not eating from 4am-12pm while I'm wide awake is laughable. I would just end up eating all the things I shouldn't be on the keto lifestyle. It's refreshing to hear the "make your own opinions and work through them" comment!
This is my first day of doing Keto. Thank you guys helped me out more than you know A little about me I have lost 85 lbs I have 25 more to go. I am excited!
How do u calculate the labels on food to know you not going over board...do you count the carbs plus something else...so I try not to eat over 20 carbs a day. I just need to undetstand how to count for labels???
I don't know how to get more fat in my diet...?? Should I just down half a bottle of olive oil or eat a whole stick of butter everyday? I've been logging my foods and I eat about 60% protein and 30% fat everyday.
Vickie Vang I like to add extra egg yolks, some sour cream and shredded cheese to my eggs and bacon scramble for breakfast. Or use sausage instead of bacon because its fattier. Fat bombs are also made specifically to up your fat ratio. Keto casseroles are another way to get more fat in at dinner because they usually have a fattier sauce. Im not really a big snacker so I dont have many tips for that... My weakness is the keto desserts because I love baking, lol.
One of the biggest things i have learned doing keto, is its VERY difficult if your spouse/significant other is not doing it with you. Its challenging to keep two households with a traditional diet and a keto diet. I recommend that the lifestyle shift applies to the family as a whole if you are married or living with a significant other.
You guys are great! I love the ready, fire, aim analogy. Planning w/o action gives no results. I also like that you mentioned that you don't have to pick sides. I follow you, Dr. Berg, Headbanger's Kitchen, and a few others... All have provided great recipes, recommendations, and motivation that enabled me to lose 70lbs. Yes, there was some trial and error but once I figured out how my body responds I became better at selecting different protocols from my fav channels. Thank you guys!
How would you do Keto & or IF on a 3rd shift sleeping schedule? Usually awake at 2 p.m. usually go to bed around 4/5 a.m. work anytime from 4p-12 a. or 12a-8am. Tips?
Thank-you guys so much!! I just started keto about a month ago along with intermittent fasting and I feel much better. For some reason intermittent fasting just seems to fit for me. I am 66 yrs. old and I know I probably won't get the same results as some one younger, but if it makes me feel better any weight lose that I may see would just be a bonus. Thanks for all the great advice and recipes. I plan on trying some of them soon.
I started keto a few months ago and I lost some weight not a lot but my hair has broken off and looks terrible and dry and it's not growing. I tried taking some vitamins to help. Is there something that I should be eating during the keto diet that would help with my hair. Is there something about the keto diet that is hurting my hair.
I just discovered ya'll today! I started keto today, in hopes of losing weight for my wedding in October and overall just because it's healthy! love your videos!
A few mistakes on keto I have made is not eating enough fat and going way to low on my calories, not listening to my body when I was hungry and pushing myself way too much with all the things I thought was right with keto just because the internet said so. However after a few years going back and forth with this WOE and doing more research, finding ways to adapt it to my lifestyle it has become second nature. I am always learning new things every day and I do not pressure anyone to do this eating style. Also I do not look at this as a 'diet" but a way of life. Thanks Ketto connect for everything you do!!!
@keto connect you guys are awesome and an inspiration. I have lost 25 lbs and feel so much better! You guys have helped me thru the tough keto days. Keep up the good work.
"If you want to have more control over your relationship with food." Click, ding, bells, whistles!!!! Thank you! This sentence has motivated me more than you know.
Accountability. I keep a journal of everything that passes my lips and the times including how many quart jars of water i drink or wine i drink. I've sometimes thought I really didn't drink 8 oz of wine, it was probably only 6 oz....but WHO AM I CHEATING BY LYING TO MYSELF? me.
Great video! I'm having an issue of what to eat if I play tennis 4 hrs a day. I'm fine with practice for 4 hours. But what should I eat during a long match?
hi.. I'm new to your hood.. but I appreciate your honesty and transparency. it's great to hear you guys mention Dr. Berg and others in a positive way as there is no ONE way (except to Heaven). Thank you

My ADHD thanks you.
Thank you! Just saved 16mins of my life lol
Thank you didnt feek like watching
🙏🏼 gracias
You da real mvp
My biggest mistake is continuously weighing myself. I promised myself I would only do it once a week, but then get tempted every other day. When I don't see immediate progress (retaining fluid) I get disappointed.
I only weigh daily or twice a day when i do extended fasting.
You just reminded me not to weigh myself today. Thank you.
Yes! My worst problem. I weighed myself everyday and just forced myself to stop and weigh every Sunday. Hiding my own scale under my bed so its out of sight, out of mind.
I'm going through the same thing now 😔😓
I haven't weighed one time in the full 2 weeks I've been on Keto. This time, I just want to go by how I feel and track my food on MyFitnessPal. Let the process happen and trust that it will. Keep on the path and expect to get to where I want to be. It's working so far. I find that slow scale progress can really undermine my happiness.
What an *excellent* idea: instead of comparing yourself to others, "compare yourself to your previous self". Great suggestion!
I've always done this. Never made sense any other way
I totally agree.
Rule #4, 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson
@@Chidsuey Late comment, but that's exactly what I thought lmao.
Agreed!!! It helps so so so much! Thank you both
Biggest mistake is not starting
I started a week ago thanks to your channel and Keto Connect!
Siim Land one ketooo hahaha 2 ketos harrhaha 3 ketos haarrhaha
Yep, surest way to fail at anything is to not get started.
Hey you're familiar 😀
😂😂
Touching on #9. I'd go as far as say don't worry about being keto 24/7. If you break keto it's not the end of the world. The next day is an opportunity to get back in it. It's about the long term.. If you're fat adapted you'll find yourself able to get back in to keto very easily.
Colyers well said! People are humans and get too caught up in making mistakes, and the fear of making a mistake
Exactly I did keto about ten years ago. Now it's like zero work to get myself into ketosis.
Colyers perfect way to fuck up your kidney, your either keto or your not there are no cheat days on keto
#1 Stick to it with no cheating for the first 6 weeks, evaluate how you feel, if you cheat, evaluate again, was it worth it? . #2 Keep calm and keto on
Kara Leeann I was doing keto for 2 months and just had a cheat day....and then cheated the next day too 💩
Do I regret it?
Yes so good
Started Jan 16, 2020. Did cheat in a way, but very minimal like a bite of cookie or a bite of a Nonketo food but did not have an actual whole meal of cheat or whateva
no, it was not worth it. at all. makes you feel hungover and want to die
Dude yeah, the “you enjoy the junk food for only a few minutes” is so true. I think about that every time I see real cheesecake...
Look up Keto Cheesecake it’s worth it, tastes almost identical and good for keto
Yes, this deters me from cheating more than anything!
RYK RAWLEY my triglycerides were 600 before I started keto. They dropped to 146 in a few months :) I became a believer
And I have type 2 Diabetes too
my daughter has had the same amazing results as a type 2 - DR is thrilled with her results so far. she is soo much healthier now and to think I was against it when she told me she was going Keto. Watching her has changed my mind.
That's awesome! Be careful about ketoacidosis as you're diabetic. Hope all is well!
That one hit home for me also .
is it the flavor of that treat, or the comfort you might receive during let's say, a stress?
I eat sugary snacks every 2 or 3 weeks. I don't over indulge though and I'm still losing weight.
*It's so easy to fall into these common mistakes without even realizing it. Your explanations were clear, and I appreciate the practical tips to avoid them. Great video!*
I love the photo bombing cat!
What kind did you use?
He wanted to do crossfit and i didnt, so we compromised and we dont do crossfit.hahahha

Man did you just call me out on the "Eating pork skins and watching Netflix ...... LoL .... literally!
Cambaudio check out Dr Berg.. he’s into Keto and IF
I eat twice a day. I don’t eat my first meal until 12 to 1. It wasn’t intentional at first I just noticed I was doing it and now I just do it everyday.
Kay Renee I'm the same!!
I just eat a nice big lunch and snack on cheese sticks and peanut butter lol (I stay under 20 carbs though) and I’ve been losing a pound a day
DO you have coffee in the am?
So agree, keep it simple
Kathy R we are down 170 with IF and keto. Isn't it great to work as a team?
You two bounce off each other really well, love it! You made some very relevant points, thanks guys!
Totally agree!
You are so very correct, keep meals simple...thanks
How do you know you're 'in' or 'out' of ketosis?
manictiger get some ketostix(urine test) in the drugstore!! Should be plenty of info on the net about them !!
Kraft cheese is NOT really cheese; its a "cheese product"...whatever that means...so stay away from that.
Doc Q Omg!! Thank you I ate Kraft cheese and the next day I was out of Ketosis!! I didn’t even think of it being a cheese “product “!!! Smh
kenessa robinson when processed cheese was developed, the most desired makes for it was embalmed cheese. Once I knew that I couldn't eat it. Ewwwwwwww.
Keto, CrossFit, and Netflix are my life. Just kidding but I love my tv time. I went keto and started CrossFit on January 1st. I’ve lost 22 pounds so far.
congrats
A bit nervous about doing the keto diet on crossfit. Inspiring to hear it works for you. I’m hopeful it doesn’t make me lose energy.
Kaila Fiske Your muscles will have worse performance at first, but after a few weeks you'll have more energy than ever. I just started keto and I have lots of energy, but my muscles are still adjusting so I don't do quite as well in my workouts
But that's supposed to improve?
Kaila Fiske Yes after your body adapts
Esabel Prieto hi, how is it going ? Are you still doing it ?
Yes, I'd like an update as well.
What works for you?
I had a cheat day yesterday , I went to see "The Joker" had me some nachos,Pepsi and chocolate.
That kitty face in intro😍😍😍✨
Could you please tell me, what you eat in a day?it make me inspire
westfield90
I stopped following dr berg when I found out he and his wife are scientologists and donate huge amounts of money to that cult.
tonyortega.org/2017/07/15/whale-watching-update-your-2017-mid-year-guide-to-whos-keeping-scientology-alive/
Yep, the way keto makes your body feel is the best. Helps me with my autoimmune issues for sure.
NetoKeto mine too!
I have found that it is easier to be 100% keto than 99%. That 1% holds me back from progress.
You have taught me the in’s and outs and love it! I read labels and now really know what I’m eating!
Omg I love the idea of putting what I’m going to snack on on a plate!!! I’m that person that keeps going back instead
Thanks!
"robust social lives...wow you have been reading..." awesome.
Shes a Princeton graduate
That was a little derisive on his part.
😬
I just started Keto about 2 weeks ago and I’m just slowly easing myself into it and it hasn’t been to hard, just have to get used to new changes. Meal preparation is key for me
Great video, great life advice as well. Not just keto.
Headbanger's Kitchen -except they are in ketosis....they meter themselves for both glucose and ketones.
Wish me luck!
i started monday and its thursday i am already down 2 pounds
I love how well you guys speak w one another. You bounce off SO well
The peanut butter thumbnail really caught my attention. A few weeks back I was spooning peanut butter down my throat.
Jessi Moomoo I still do that 😂
I do it too lol
Jessi Moomoo , is peanut butter bad on Keto? I just started 2 days ago after watching Dr. Berg video
sree R nothing is BAD you just have to limit the carbs intake.
o thank god! I have 1tbsp with my yogurt for lunch every day.
Omg, just the thumbnail totally describes me at times!!! Ugh! Peanut butter!!!
Keto with Rachel O'Brien it was me right before I watched this video 🤷🏼♂️
Keto with Rachel O'Brien , I can’t find a peanut butter that I can eat!!! Does anyone know of a peanut butter mthat we can have?
Klou if you have a fredmeyer near you or a Kroger maybe?? You can buy all natural peanut butter in the bulk section at $1.70 a pound!
So yummy
savannah maria thank you so much for the info. It’s really hard to find!
Klou oh you are so very welcome! Happy to help! I too had no idea until my dad introduced me.
"Enjoy it for 2 minutes".... wow that hit me hard! I never thought to look at it that way and I like it a lot!
I don't get Coke or Sprite Zero from fast food restaurants. I always feel like the workers will just give me regular Coke or Sprite. Only drink those out of the bottle.
That's accountability.
Tyrone E 2 you can have that on keto?
Coke zero yes. Coke? Hell no.
Prohibitions Emerald Yes you can have it. They're zero calorie/carb drinks.
Check Keto Connects sweetener video to see how safe they are for Keto though (doesn't seem to affect me much).
DuskPunkZebra Yeah same here (with the sparkling water).
They help me from going overboard with the Michelob Ultras.
I think they give you regular coke if you use the drive through for sure!
So… thanks. You rock.
Megha in the thumbnail is *ME*
Helia Trinh saaaame
Soooo ME!
Lol. They are professionals but couldn't provide you with the research to back up their opinion..?
This is the first time I've ever heard of the need to exercise on a Keto diet. All the other channels focus on food. Thank you for your honesty.
Do you guys take ACV?
Hi there I'm just starting keto today and did some meal prep for the week logged it all in myfitnespal and I'm over my 20 total carbs by about 15 any suggests on how to log properly? I did look for net carbs went I do log it
I see cat. I press like.
Me like
I didn't even realize it but that is exactly what I did hahahaha
sten beetlex yasss I wish that the cat was in more videos
Same!
Bring the sassy cat back
Now I realize I’m hungrier on some days than others; it’s ok to be under on one day, because I’ll break even at some point during the week.
i was really hesitant to start keto because it seemed so restrictive and intense - absolutely no wiggle room for slip ups, keto flu ect and because I absolutely hate coconut which seems to be in every keto recipe ever created lol
but i started about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love it so far! It's been really easy to stick to and I haven't been battling cravings at all! I've found it much easier to be intuitive about my eating and I'm down 15lbs and feeling great (and sleeping so much better!)
“I’m about the snack life” 😂🙌🏼✨ Love you guys. Totally relatable. Even if it’s bone broth, I love the snack life too
I am just starting keto this week and I love your feelings on IF.
These types of videos are motivational and practical. Keep handing out the life lessons m&m
You two are brilliant. Really. It has taken me 50 years to come to some of the same conclusions/life lessons. You're both ahead of the game.
This is my first day of doing Keto. Thank you guys helped me out more than you know
A little about me I have lost 85 lbs I have 25 more to go. I am excited!
I currently use unique muscles slim it drink every day, but I’m going to try giving keto a first time go. Can I keep using my slim it drink?
Consistency over perfection 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
How do u calculate the labels on food to know you not going over board...do you count the carbs plus something else...so I try not to eat over 20 carbs a day. I just need to undetstand how to count for labels???
I don't know how to get more fat in my diet...?? Should I just down half a bottle of olive oil or eat a whole stick of butter everyday? I've been logging my foods and I eat about 60% protein and 30% fat everyday.
Vickie Vang too much protein
Usually awake at 2 p.m. usually go to bed around 4/5 a.m. work anytime from 4p-12 a. or 12a-8am. Tips?
Eating peanut butter out of a jar has been my mood for the week lmao
Cashew Butter & Almond Butter Are Much Tastier & Healthier.
No Oils.
@@johnhuber354 they are good too
Thank-you guys so much!!
Everybody is an expert on keto now.
I'm just here for the cat..... and to eliminate my diabeetus...
@monkeydice1 i feel for you mate ,
Lol, that's funny :)
I just discovered ya'll today! I started keto today, in hopes of losing weight for my wedding in October and overall just because it's healthy! love your videos!
Keto mistake: Eating too much protein at a sitting can evokes a substantial insulin response which can flick the food frenzy button (if you have one).
Bill Fabian nah..
YAH. Over doing the protein turns the protein to sugar. Stay sensible.
Mel Rey Yeah I have type 2 diabetes and have not had a problem with any meat spiking my blood sugar barley compared too eating let's say 15 carbs
Protein keeps you from wanting to eat in a "frenzy"...keeps you full longer!
Lark Bird: protein does not turn into sugar...not for a very long time and only if you are eating meat like a mad lion.
Watching this video every year is such a great motivator for me. Thanks!!! Happy New Year.
This was soooo good! I thought these would just be food tips, but you guys took it to the next level! Woo! 👍🏼
“I think about food a lot” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 sounds like me
That's just me 24/7. I'm having breakfast now and i already know my lunch dinner and also next day's meals running in my head. It's on auto pilot
@keto connect you guys are awesome and an inspiration. I have lost 25 lbs and feel so much better! You guys have helped me thru the tough keto days. Keep up the good work.
Watching Netflix is everything😆
Thank you
thank you very much for being so helpful . just started today.... lets see what happens??
great video! so true! i mix up so many things I've learned! I don't pick a side, I coast around in the middle and get my swerve on! LOL!
