  • 2023 Lifan Kpm 200 that I just got delivered from Venommotorsportsusa.com and I finished the assembly and PDI, now I am ready to take it out for its break in ride. I ran the engine through 2 idling heat cycles and now I'm going out to seat the rings. It usually takes me about 35 miles and then after that I just keep it out of the high rev range for a while. Come along as I experience this bike for my first time.

    Im loving lifan bikes.
    Have X pect 250cc and V16s twin cylinder 250cc
    These things are fun and reliable in this price point
    China will be the next Japan if they keep improving and start building their own stuff than copying

      Yeah I think Lifan builds some top quality bikes, you’ve got a couple of nice bikes. Those twins always intrigued me, I’d like to ride one and I probably will when I visit Jerry in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻

    Great video Herbie. There's a long argument about engine break in: ride it like your Grandma would, or ride it like you stole it. You seemed to nail it on the head: a combo of both styles. White is a nice color, let your grandkids decorate it with dry-erase markers and keep anything you like!

      Thank you Todd, yeah you can get a lot of different opinions on engine break in, this is just my opinion based on a motorcycle mechanic recommendation and my experience combined. I’ve done it this way for many bikes and always seems to work well for me. If anyone reads this then my recommendation is just do what feels comfortable to you, like Todd says some people ride it easy and some hard so do what feels comfortable to you and your bike. That’s funny about the dry erase markers 😂 and a good idea 🤔

    I was hoping you'd buy one of these bikes Herbie! They have this and all of the lifan models at my local dealer. I can't wait to see how you modify it. That bikes and beards torture test on the kpr is great. Lifan builds a tough bike. I think they are a bit more reputable than some of the other obscure Chinese brands. Stay safe everyone and thanks so much Herbie!!

      Thank you, yes I agree with you, I think Lifan bikes are top quality. I own 3 of them and they are all good bikes. Thanks for the comment and you’re welcome!

    I watched the same bikes and beards video and have wanted one ever since! Hows the wind on this? Think youll add a screen?

      Funny you mention that, I actually ordered 2 wind screens because they are different styles and couldn’t decide which one I wanted so I bought both. 😂 I’ll be doing a video on that I’m sure.

    Do you have a favorite between the KPR and the KPM?

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That has been a tough one for me because my KPR was my first bike that I bought from Venom and I rode that bike a lot and never once gave me any trouble. Only issue that I ever had was a small oil leak that a dab of silicone took care of. I still have strong affection for the KPR. With that said everything that I love about the KPR I have in the KPM but a more upright seating position which I like better. The only real thing that the KPM lacks compared to the KPR is the instrument cluster. The KPR has an awesome cluster which I thought made the bike so much better. The cluster on the KPM is just adequate, but harder to see and doesn't have the shift light which I thought was pretty cool feature. But today I would say I would still choose the KPM over the KPR because of the seating position. They share the same engine and that's the heart of the motorcycle. I would say if you are thinking about buying one. Two things to consider, Is the better gauge cluster important to you? And which seating position is better for you. Other than that it's kind of a wash because they are similar. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    I have looked at one of these at my local dealership. I couldn't pull the trigger because of the gauge cluster. It just felt dangerous. Did you feel safe riding it having to look down.

      @herbiesgarage681  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand what you are saying about the cluster, I’m not a fan of its location either. I don’t have many miles on the bike yet but honestly I don’t look at the cluster a lot. I do occasionally look to see how fast I’m going and no I don’t feel it’s an unsafe condition. I don’t think that the cluster would stop me from buying the bike because it’s such a great bike. I might at some point change the cluster and put one on the handlebars if it bothers me that much. Thanks for the question and whatever you decide, good luck and safe riding to you!

    I am thinking about getting one of these soon as my first bike. How long did the registration process take since they dont come with a title?

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, venom motorsports ships the MCO with the bill of the sale with the bike inside of the crate. You can take to your local dmv and get it registered the same day that you get your bike if you want to.

    you are already making me regret selling my kpm. curious to see all the mods you do and see how they line up with what i did. now that i have my Vulcan i have been debating getting the kpv150 as a around town bike. with the possibility of trying to do the 2025 scooter cannonball if i can get away form the family for 10days.

      That’s an interesting choice, I saw that kpv and was wondering about it. I think bikes and beards had one. They look really nice
