    Hey guys great video!!! I had originally went with the rubber grips from Talon. After firing my Glock 43X I realized the rubber was giving me no real grip support. I ordered the Pro grip and I wish I would’ve just went with it from the beginning. Great content on this video. Great job. Love u guys.

      Glad you found a grip you like! The granulated definitely has more grip despite it being rough.
      Thanks for the praise SDW!

    This was very helpful for me, I was really torn between the Pro and the Granulate. I'm shooting IDPA more of an open outside the waste holster application, for my Canik TP9SFX. I really liked the suggestion below about how to tune down the Granulate if it is too harsh. Thanks for you time to put this info put for us, nicely done.

    Definitely recommend the granulate grip. I’ve been through two sets of Pro grips in the the last 3 months. Not very durable at all

      We haven't worn ours out yet but that's what we've been hearing. The pro offers more grip and durability. Thanks for the comment GeorgiaBoy!

      I have used both the granulate and the pro.. The pro feel great but they do wear quickly and get slick after a time. I just put granulate on for my 19X and I love it. I wouldn't want to conceal carry with it but it is grippy. I have only used it for a couple hundred rounds but so far so good.

      I agree the granulated grips are awesome & virtually bomb proof . As far as CCW it doesn't bother me. I just deal with it cause grip is king.

    You can sand down the granulate before application. Use it to sand something (black) or sand it with some sand cloth , emery etc

    I actually love granulate for a conceal carry piece. However I always wear a tucked in under shirt. Also I do somewhat disagree with the part about your shirt hanging up on it as far as drawing you should be using your support hand to pull the bottom of your shirt up to chest height anyway to make sure you are completely clearing that firearm and not having barrel/slide/sights/optic getting hung up. That being said using granulate can make your shirt stick against the grip and cause printing issues. I wear Carhartt Force Cotton t shirts and it isn’t a problem. Just my .02.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You bring up a good point though. EDC setup comes second to training and if you completely follow through each step of a proper draw, the grips shouldn’t matter. So it does ultimately come down to draw technique.
      Carhartt makes great apparel. We will have to check out those cotton shirts.
      Thanks Tyrone Jackson!

    Not that it matters but I'm a Retired Sheriff and used skateboard tape and then Talon grip granulate for many many years. You need to get a screwdriver and rub the hot spots off... I still use it on all of my guns.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve heard of the hot spot trick before. That stuff is pretty rough sometimes.

  • @GDyer-cl8fl
    @GDyer-cl8fl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the granulate on my LC9S which I pocket carry in a Sticky holster. I thought it might wear my pocket out it was so rough so I sanded it down w/ some 100 grit sandpaper. Works fine now.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The granulate is probably too rough for most people as it comes from the factory, especially for any kind of concealed carry. Thankfully it’s fairly easy to sand down to a usable roughness. I use mine only on a belt carry so it doesn’t contact anything else besides my hands.

    Granulate is the best Talon makes. I've been thinking about using some Ladder tape cause that stuff is bomb proof.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The granulate is a super solid texture. It’s proven to be pretty durable so far, but I find it to be a tad bit too abrasive on just bare skin.

  • @PaulSter

    Great vid- thanks!
    I'm really happy with the rubber grips on my lil' LCP2. I think it's a better deal for me as it is only intended for conceal and they feel great so far.
    But for my Walther PPQ, I think I'm going to go granulate as it's more of a range and home defense piece. I'm also a gym rat who doesn't wear gloves, so my hands are pretty calloused. Hopefully, my wife will get me them for Christmas (or I'll get them!).
    In the end, on the PPQ M2, I think they come with decent stippling and I think it's great that they build the pistol so you can keep it stock and the vast majority of users will keep it that way. At the same time, these handgun manufacturers know the deal and expect that folks will want to personalize to their taste. What I miss the most on my PPQ is stippling where your thumb(s) go on the upper side of the stock grip.

      We’ve heard great things about Walthers. We don’t have much experience with them though but maybe in the future!

      @@RangeDay The Walther PPQ M2, IMO, is one of the best compromises of price, performance, ergonomics (huge one for me) in a 9mm. Lots of vids and forum posts on them so I won't go there.
      Our small gym never shut down, but we never stopped using common sense throughout all of this and have had zero COVID cases. Hmmmm...?

    Thank you for posting this video. So, the Pro series is rubber bits for the granular feel not the same as the Granulate series? I’m going with the Pro for my G29, Gen 4..
    Nice shooting range, by the way!!

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Is this Keanue Reeves?!
      Yes sir the Pro series texture is not as aggressive as the Granulate series. The Pro texture is more of a shredded, rubberized material, while the granulate series is more akin to a sandpaper feel.

    So get the Granulate if I’m not going too conceal carry I usually open carry, would the granulate be fine? Cause I needed it for my s&w .40 shield. As in my state it’s fine don’t worry I know the risks of open carrying I’m always aware of surroundings, I make sure to be weary of the people behind, side and near me

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The granulate would be fine for open carry! It has a great sandpaper like grip. It rubbing on skin all day under a shirt can get pretty uncomfortable so having it OWB open carry would be suitable for it.

      Talon Grips offers three different textures on their site. The PRO, Granulate (sandpaper), and the rubberized variety. The PRO is still out there and is a combo of the other two textures!

  • @bryanm6080

    I have been looking for exactly the texture of the PRO grip; I have had a similar super low quality and thick-cut grip tape akin to the Talon Pro from Aliexpress on my airsoft glock for years, it has finally worn down. I am trying to find something to replace it, however just can't find any currently offered grips similar to the old texture. Any idea who has an identical one to the pro other than Talon? They don't offer it anymore!!

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bryan, thanks for the question!
      We don’t have much experience with other grips that are very similar to the Pro texture from Talon. Most others tend to be the rougher sandpaper type texture or straight rubber grip material, instead of in between.
      TalonGrips should still be selling the Pro for Gen 1-5 glocks online, you would just need to pick the model to match your application + any backstrap you might be using. For $25 we find it hard to beat if that’s the texture you’re after.
      Let us know if you have other questions!
