WELDING REPADS 6010 ROOT 7018 OUT FUN BUILD LEARNING

แชร์

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 5 มิ.ย. 2019
  • Welding on a long neck flange with a repad. Iv never done this is the feild so here is my first one ever with 7018. In the shop many years ago I built hundreds of vessels with repads much larger and smaller then this. We would do them with METALCORE and hardwire mig. Never ever did one with stick so this was fun. I also never had to do it in position. I always had them on a roller to make it flat and a perfect weld. Most of the time I'd say 99% of the time I had to do a lace weld on them with hardwire which I want to make a video of and show you how I did that. Not sure if they are done like that anymore. But I will still show you. It will have to be a arc shot video to show you the perfection of it. I will get to the arc shots but right now is all teaching without. So follow along and listen up to the followed and advised steps.

Hey Professor, I'm a recent grad from a trade college in Canada, ON.
Just wanted to let you know it's awesome you make these videos!
Also, I wanted to let you know that trade colleges use videos like this in class as examples,
I've seen a few videos in class of you, bob moffat, and the guys on weldtube.
Being able to see someone fit and weld something out in order, before attempting it yourself really helps out!
I would like to be able to see the arc shots better though, like see the puddle.
Keep up the good work, your a great welder.

I was a welder for about 11 years but gave it up because it started to mess up my vision. I still love the process and watched this entire video and it brought back a lot of memories. I agree with Joe I was always my hardest critic when I would weld and a welding instructor told me once, " As long as it's up to code with the job your good." We welded jobs that required full penetration welds that were later inspected and all the failures were because of porosity and improper cleaning between passes. I would concentrate more on that than the appearance. That comes with experience. Keep burning and pay those bills!

I’ve never made such a great decision before, I welded stick and then tig to try it out there and I loved it and never ever regretted anything about welding. Have fun and there is definitely a lot to learn. I’m just now doing pipe in my 3rd term.

I miss stick welding since finishing welding school. So far my only welding job has been 99.99% FCAW, and we weren't really welding all that much because so much time was spent on fitup and other assembly duties. Have an interview tomorrow for a new job that I was told will probably be soldering mostly, with some welding work on the side (hopefully TIG). But it was always sorta relaxing with my back up against the wall in the welding booth at school, laying out 6010 roots in grooves and filling 'er up with 7018 while jamming to some thrash metal.

One important thing you forgot to mention, but accidentally got a decent shot of @ 22:50. Off set your stop and starts, like a brick wall you never want your start and stops on each other!
Also, if your slag peels itself up from the start of the weld as you go, you are almost perfect. Good angle, pen, travel speed, ect. It peels itself up when there is no undercut or porosity for it to cling onto that you have to wire wheel out!

Loved this video Brotha , a lot of good tips for some of us novice hobby welders . I ran my own auto/ diesel repair and diagnostics service Corp.in AZ for over 17 yrs. During that course I occasionally needed to weld things. Never got trained just learned as I went along. Asked many machine shops and others on how to weld cast iron and was shocked people telling me it couldn't be done. So 1 of my early customers was a US veteran and journeyman pipefitter . He had just retired and taught me how to do cast iron welding with those crazy expensive rods specifically for it. Was around 2002 . Still recall his lessons like it was yesterday. Short welds and ping the ends . Long welds will result in cracks. Always ping the shit outta it he made clear . Look forward to all your Vids TC 👍🏼🔥🔥

Great video. Almost makes me feel like I could do it even though I've only done butt joints and flanges. It makes me really miss burning rods since I work production and mostly only get to use the squirt gun unless I get to fire up the TIG for SOME stainless or aluminum orders. You don't have the fancy camera gear or the lensed arc shots but you more than make up for it with knowledge, passion, and positive attitude!

Old mate cutting your hole needs to keep his torch the same angle as he has at top level of pipe through out the cut as the cutout will be parallel to centre. Also why not thow another outer circle on your mark out with the dividers and throw the torch on a 35° angle keeping an eye on that root face and cut the weld prep in with the oxy. Keep blazing mate yewwwww.I'm a boilermaker/welder from OZ

This is real world welding youngin’s sometimes you gotta live to fight another day . Not about not taking pride in your work , sometimes “ good enough “ has to work just for time constraints but this is still very good , quality craftsmanship. Nice job 👍🏾

Great video, you know your stuff. I do wish you could implement a lens on your camera so we can observe your bead technique. Your beads look great , some might like to see how you make them. Thank you and have a Blessed day.
