  • My two week review. In a nutshell, a fantastic (and best) version of the HEST Folder to date!

    Great video with some solid info. I ordered this knife last night with zero research so this helped put my mind at ease. Thanks for the review

      Absolutely! I owned two other Hest Folders but this one really takes the cake. I feel like this is the PERFECT version of the knife and it's broken in so so buttery smooth and incredibly solid lockup and a workhorse of a knife. And the micarta scale is awesome.

      Will it drop shut?

      It doesn’t drop shut but it feels like two oiled pieces of glass. Very deliberate, vault like action.

    I have a 3.0 on the way. I’m glad the lock bar insert fixed the play issue. The play is the main thing that’s stopped me from buying the knife.

      Yeah they definitely fixed the issue. After almost half a year of owning it, it’s still rock solid! No play at all!

    The back of the lock is carbidized to prevent the lock stick, previous ones had sticky lock sometimes.

      Yeah I had that sticky lock issue in a previous hest folder. This one is absolutely perfect. Figured it was the steel lock bar insert

      I've had my Hest 2.0 for almost ten years, with no problems.
      As far as "lock stick", many people consider a bit of lock stick as a positive safety issue, as it acts as a friction that helps the framelock lock up more securely.
      Tests have shown that framelocks are slightly less secure than linerlocks, and the lock stick helps to alleviate this small problem. Mine also has the "rotoblock" which acts as a Hinderer lockbar stop as well as a blade lock...l like it though it is seldom used.

    Is it possible to just switch out the Teflon washers for bronze or even ceramic bearings? I've never tried just throwing those on a knife before, was curious.

    • @xlorki
      @xlorki 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's easy to switch to bronze, but there is no grooves to use a ball bearings in this set up, so it seems like bronze is the way

    There was a extra hex head screw in the box. I'm wondering what it's for?

    • @these7seas
      @these7seas  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s to replace the glass breaker with the screw in case you don’t want the breaker.
