You can buy direct-from-factory if you want to save a few thousand and deal with customs/shipping. As someone who did that, I don't advise it - language barrier/time zone make it a pita. My two yr old machine has cylinders that are already rusting. Everything is built cheaply, but with standard off-the-shelf parts, repairing is pretty simple. But when people say they are 'comparable' to name-brand machines, that's only on the most basic/superficial levels. The hydraulic controls aren't as precise. The turntable has slop right off the factory floor. Fit and finish is a joke. But if you're a homeowner/rancher or a small business that only has limited light duty use, these can work. These are NOT 'comparable' to a name brand for durability - you're not going to get thousands of hours from them. They are the Yugos of the excavator world. Cheap/disposable.
These sell for $18-20k (sometimes higher if two buyers get into a silly bidding war) in our area. Ive come so close to buying, especially since its already plummed with a diverter valve and adding a hydraulic cylinder for the thumb and welding some upper brackets on the boom would be quite simple. Nice machine for a 3 ton.
Thanks for sharing. Bought mine sight-unseen from Richie Bros...got lucky. $18,500+ fees. Loving it so far. It's done everything I ask it to do. I actually don't mind the manual thumb.
You paid the right amount. Some of those auctions get crazy and people over pay. Ive only ever see one go lower than $18k and it was a year ago at a startup auction house. Congrats I am jealous 💪
How does this compare to the AGT NT-45 powerwise with Kubota engine and US made Chrystal hydraulics..I saw a comparison vid u had but all u mentioned was the NT-45 was bare bones. I don’t need AC or a shit stereo. Fit and finish I don’t care. I care about power plant and Hydraulics. Guy down the street has one so I’m interested.
This is very helpful intel. I was considering the 35sr, but would rather have a little more power and weight on the machine. Agree the f&f isnt as nice on the 45ku and i dont like the exterior routing of the hydraulic cables on the boom. Both are very capable machines 👌
Great video, though I can't imagine having a fixed position thumb. You mentioned how much you need for a machine that gets jobs done and a hydraulic thumb goes a long way in achieving high rates of productivity in my mind. Here are a few of examples of how vital they are in getting work done in the type of mini excavator projects I usually do. th-cam.com/video/byKdDOWcMbU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/riokR_5-CXc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/vLt_pyQMvyk/w-d-xo.html
In effect you are. Since we no longer make equipment here, whatever machine you rent was made in China & the rental company bought it. You're simply paying a middle man to send your money to China. Personally, I'd rather pay myself to do the legwork than a middle man. I respect we each have our own way of viewing things🙂

Can I know how $$ you saved by doing it ? thanks..
What's the HP rating on the motor and what's the machine weight?
That rock certainly has some gravity to it.

For being a fixed thumb, at least they made it easy to move

I wonder this stacks up against the Sany sy16c? I like the expandable tracks that the Sany has. Adds a lot more stability.
where did you get it? have a link?
I got this one at my local machinery auction, they are also sold the CFG industries website
You can get it from China. So what kinds of excavators do you want to have?
Did you get rid of the STE35 for this one, if so why. I am between the KU45, STE35 and CFG40UF. Thanks
Hello RP
Are you going to do a video on the STE36SR ?
I sold the ste35sr, the ku45 is more capable, It can lift more and is more powerful. The ste35sr has a better fit and finish but smaller
Thanks for responding. Did you get work the 35, if so, your thoughts.

No matter what size of machine you have a person who uses it will always over load the machine at some point life in general
If you are a homeowner just rent a good one when you need it, personally I’m not handing over my 🇺🇸$$$ 2🇨🇳😆
