I used to watch this all the day back in the day as a kid and after getting my degree as a software engineer and thinking I would make really cool things, I got sat down on a new project today at my job and realized that I'm just copy pasting the same fix to old code across thousands of files. It just took 15 years, but I'm the monkey now.
i remember my dad showing me this when i was a kid when he used to play world of warcraft and i thought it was funny and now i realize that a lot of us are code monkeys
I was thinking the same thing when I was little but by the time I got into college my professor told me all the codes were just lua files and plug in script. I’m minoring in computer now. But still I hold everything done in high regards…We’re not using windows XP anymore😢
So since this was basically how my "code monkey" husband and I met and fell in love, and he introduced me to WoW, I always get a bit emotional watching this lol. Can't believe it's been this long!
Ah Code Monkey, the perfect song to describe life as a programmer. Our office actually brought in Tab and Mountain Dew as a tribute when this song first came out, lol.
If this song make you tear up at work while writing Perl, it means you're either really really depressed or really really happy. Hopefully I'm the latter..
This is seriously one of my favorite youtube videos of all time. The perfection of using in game animations and simple video edits make this one of a kind
Fuck I remember when this came out I listened to it like 10 times a day. I'm listening to mayday parade and I think about code monkey. Well time to forget about this for another 9 years.
I loved this song when I was 12 and I love this song now that I am 25. At this point I believe that this song will be with my throughout my whole life. Such a beautiful tune.
These songs and animations were a huge part of my childhood, I never used to know what code monkey meant I just loved the song and the story but now after being recommended this song after 15 years I realise I had become code monkey and it made me cry with nostalgia.

Interesting how this was used as the theme for the G4 show Code Monkeys. That new streaming service Peacock has Code Monkeys on it and i got to relive the G4 magic again over 10 years later. This is the first time i enjoyed the full song. Reliving the show was cool.
Just watched your video. Hearing code monkeys gave me flash backs to a WOW Machinima. And to my surprise, here you are. I tip my hat to you sir, now exsuse me, i've got to go rewatch Azerothian Super Villains. Good day.

I legitimately haven't thought about it's existence for a good 13 years or so, but for some bizarre reason, it appeared on my random Spotify shuffle of my favorite genre.
