    Good job on troubleshooting that cable issue! Cable issues are sometimes the hardest problem to find.

      Thanks for watching Jay! After messing with the wifi settings for a bit, I wasn’t really seeing anything obvious that would be causing the packet loss. So, at that point, I took a different approach. Things are fine now that I replaced the DAC cables with fiber cables & transceivers. Have a great day.

    Nice tutorial! And yup: Cheapest componentes (as cables actually are) are causing the most time loss in troubleshooting.

    Great video Tony 🙂 When I first built my Rack (replacing my stacked in-box wired mesh shelves) I was used a DAC cable between my 10G switch and my 1G switch, that was intermittently bad. It was a little tricky for me to troubleshoot since the other two DAC cables I had purchased were only for 10G to 10G connections (it was my maiden voyage into using those cables) and I could not get those to work at all. I finally just went out and purchased a 10' Fiber cable from Micro Center (two long in my 1st purchase), which solved toe problems. Now I use a 6.2" fiber between the two switches, which I will have to replace with 18" when I reshuffle some switch components in a few months. These types of problems can be a real PITA.

      Thanks for watching David. I really appreciate it. Yeah, took a while to narrow down. After studying the wifi settings for a bit, nothing was really standing out as an obvious cause, so I had to take a completely different approach to finding the problem. As one of the viewers stated earlier, it’s like looking for a needle in the haystack. Have a great weekend!

      @@QuikTechSolutions You are very welcome Tony. I came up in computers through the hardware road Many years ago (Mainframe maintenance back in the mid-70's), so I eliminate hardware by dividing and conquering right from the start.
      By the way, I plan on going live tomorrow night, and I am leaning toward a TCP/IP Sub-netting tutorial. I have a PPT from a couple of months ago, and if I can complete it today then I will do that. Otherwise I will probably go for demonstrating my PC-Based Oscilloscope. I believe that having questions from the chat will add to the quality of a sub-netting tutorial.

    I would also try swapping the dac cables between the two switches, see if that will cause your first switch to have the issue…if not then it could be the physical port itself on the second switch.
    Rule out the physical port vs the cable

    • @QuikTechSolutions
      @QuikTechSolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx for watching. Good suggestion. Keep in mind I ruled out the port when I connected the fiber directly from the Edgerouter to the switch in the beginning. Have a great day.

      Hi, thanks for watching. The APs in this video are Grandstream APs, WiFi 5, 5G, 80Mhz. I just did a Unifi-based install for a client this week and got similar speeds from the Unifi APs WiFi 5, 5G, 80Mhz. Have a great day!

    Hi Tony .. what a mess .. it's really a nightmare to find the reason for that Packet Loss .. is like to find a Needle in a Haystack .. well solved ..
    we've had a similar Problem with our Video Conference System .. the Network Guys and I tried to find out the Problem .. at the end it was a crappy Fibre Modul in one of the Switches - and we've many in our Company to route our specific AV Network in the Building seperate form the Company Network ..

      Hey MT, thanks so much for watching. “Needle in a Haystack” is the perfect analogy. It’s ironic in a sense because you have all this expensive network equipment and the failure ends up being the least expensive piece to the puzzle. Anyway, again appreciate the channel support. Have a great day!

      Hi Mark, thanks for watching. So these are the DAC cables I originally purchased - amzn.to/3J6MLHS, which I don't recommend. I replaced them with the following components. Fiber cable - amzn.to/3gnEnYf and the Fiber Transceiver - amzn.to/35SWjrB. Have a great day!
