    For me, why I like sfp+ is using optical cables between main equipment (ubiquiti 10Gb SFP+ distribution switch) . If there is a storm and lightning strikes next to the house. Whole equipment should not burn (mainly NAS)

    I have now ordered an SFP for 2.5 GB RJ45 copper. Up to 100 meters. 1GB is also supported.

    Was looking to find out why do some manufactures make their SFP/SFP+ equipment proprietary? What is different in an HPE transciever that does not allow it to work with another, non-HPE equipment? I find it easier and less expensive to use a DAC cable, but with HPE gear this does not work. I know some third party transceiver/cable manufactures will create a custom cable with the appropriate brand specific transceiver on either end, but then what good is the MSA - as this breaks interoperability?

    Do transceiver send and receive data? Thought hard some where some of these only send data if you do wrong burn out the glass or something

    So if I have a 1G internet connection will that work with a 10G connector that I already have? Or do I need to get 1G connectors?

    Hello thanks for the tutorial. I have a Cisco SG300 10P and a Cisco SG350 10P . In the front they have 2 connectors labeled SFP . Does it mean it only works with SFP or I could use SFP+ as well ?. Thanks.

    My inbetween total distance is 8 KM

    If I was using the Media Converter for a fiber cable that is under 30m , do I still need a transceiver?

    • @AddOnNetworks
      @AddOnNetworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David! While it depends on the environment that you are using, you'll still most likely need a transceiver. If the switch or system receiving from the media converter doesn't have LC or SC connectors, then it would require a complementing transceiver. Hope this helps!

    how tf can I unplug those transceivers?

    • @AddOnNetworks
      @AddOnNetworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Apologies for the late response, but that's really simple to do 😊. Here's what you do:
      1. Pull down the the locking hinge.
      2. Hold the transceiver and slowly slide it out of the port.
      That's it! Thanks for watching and let us know if you have any other questions.

    Where would SFP benefit my home network? I have 3 computers I want to access from internet for family to store photos and videos. I have 30 32esp / 8266 smart devices hard wired for home.
    I have 4 computers for internet access in living room for me / guest. I have 3 computers in kitchen hidden except display and pullout mouse/keyboard. Office has 5 computers I monitor smart and security. One also strictly security cameras. Each bedroom has guest computer and wall rj45 to connect their computer when visiting.
    Detached workshop / office has 2 computers for researching parts, ordering supplies.
    With clarification , I can move on buying proper infrastructure cable/switches/etc.
    Ping here your telephone number.
