Why did you assume that she was raised by one parent?
@nursestoriches whats your email ?
ThinWaistedPrimaDonna I don’t think he meant it like that. When she said she had a half brother he probably thought she was the oldest and her parents divorced.
I need to listen. I’m a psych nurse. I made $85k last year working an average of 17 hours a week.
Hello, may I ask, how did you manage a great pay with an average of 17hrs a week?
How?
Move in silence
Wait? How? 😂 I'm curious too!
I love it!
I'm an LPN about to go into Nurse Practitioner Psych and hopefully own my practice someday. This lady is an inspiration.
@@Jbeggar same! Starting my ADN this week (I’ll be done in 2 semesters) and then shopping NP programs
I was waiting for her to say she was Jamaican. 🇯🇲 Every Jamaican mom wants their girls to get in the Nursing field. Proud of you girl! Blessup 🔥
Why? Most Jamaicans are rude with no bedside manners. Nursing, hospitality, and service are the last places they need to be employed in.
So true! Thank you!
She said it early in the interview.
Can confirm as the RN daughter of a Jamaican mom 😝
My Mom is Jamaican and I’m studying to become a Nurse. Her and my Aunties were/are Nurses!
OMG thanks for your perspective on correctional nursing. I've been a correctional nurse for over 9 years and this specialty has such a bad stigma. I work at a local hospital PRN and I'm always asked, " How could you work in corrections?" My answer is "how can you work here? I feel a lot safer at the correctional facility than I do here."
01:22. I’m a LPN in my RN program with a goal of being a psych NP. excited for this video
@@MaterialGirlx2 Heyyy Same here. I'm A LPN... headed to RN school next year. And Hopefully BSN and so on... We have the Same last name too... Elliott 😊 Congratulations on your accomplishments... May you continue to achieve all your Goals ‼️
I too, saw her on the video and was so proud! From NY, fellow NP and of Jamaican descent. She is a true inspiration and has such a sweet spirit. I pray God blesses everything she touches as she continues to be a blessing to others ❤
🇯🇲
I was just waiting for her to say she was Jamaican. 🇯🇲 Every Jamaican mom wants their girls to get in the Nursing field. Proud of her! Blessup 🔥
@@reachoperator212 I guess I am the exception, my mom never mentioned becoming a nurse and she was a nurses aide for more than 20 years lol. One thing she always said is “show them your degree,” essentially saying you are never tied down in oppressed environments when you have options. I was 17 and decided I was just going to knock it out and get my RN to have it in my back pocket but seven years later still here moving up the ranks 😁
Thank you so much!
@@imanhines7454 you’re welcome!
The host is such a diligent interviewer - he missed no step & questions everything … Wow!❤
The guest is awesome!❤
Thank you so much for the kind words!
I just love her demenor. Hardwork and consistency. Thank you Jason for your interviews. Currently, im on the USRN journey and i must say i'm learning a lot from your channel.
Best of luck!
I’ve been waiting for this video! 🙏🏼 graduating from psych NP school soon 🙌
Hi I am from The Bronx. I attended Lehman SON BSN and graduated in 1988. I went to Alaska with Indian Health Service. I became NP in 1999. I am now with UTMB for 10 years. I am 40 years in nursing. I am in correctional medicine. I am totally independent. My supervisor trusts me and allows me to work with a lot of independence. My wife is pediatric RN. We were able to put son through 3 university degrees one being law. We put daughter through two degrees. We paid for all their education. I have now been in Texas 34 years. My areas of specialty include cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, hepatology. I was a nationally certified ICU nurse for 30 years (CCRN). I have solid retirement, health care, life insurance. I am state employee (Texas).
@@MarkReynolds-z1v this awesome 💕
Please interview Justin from the Elite NP! He’s story is so inspiring also and helps nurse practitioners like my self start our own business!

Awesome show Jason thanks wow. These interviews are so inspiring. Great interview.

Great content. Proud of this lady.
This young lady is KILLING IT! Kudos to her and her tenacity for success. She would be an amazing mentor, but I understand not wanting to become overwhelmed. Protecting your peace is always the priority. She is such a blessing to her profession. ❤❤❤
Im a new grad.....43 years old.....working two jobs one as a prison nurse and NYCHHC Hospital... Im making $$$ but 16 hours a day! need to figure out a better plan...
Very inspiring to hear! Im 42 in a few months and thinking about nursing.
Why are you hiding your salary?
I looove love love this. She answered all my questions
Awesome video again Jason! finally a PMHNP (ive been asking for it lol). WIsh there would have been more talk on the numbers and how she can make 600K and how insurance reimburses her.
I would have loved to ask her more financial questions but she really is a private person and I didn't want to go too far with my questioning.
She is AMAZING!
Incredibly inspirational!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I’m PROUD of her !!!🤩❤️
Girl after my heart😂 I worked in the jail system on one of my first job in Florida. I’ve been a psych nurse over 25 years and love every minute of it
The interviewer is really detailed.
This was awesome! It’s so nice to see providers of color because it is so needed in psych. I’m a psych LVN and will be done with my BSN this semester. I am so ready to be done!
I love this! I'll be starting my PMHNP program in May, exactly one year from graduating with my BSN. Less than a year into bedside nursing and I already want out!
Because you got into nursing for the money.
@@buckeye-pe6df are you a nurse? You are obviously not. Lol
@@Letitbe3322 How obvious is it? Let me know.
Just what patients need. A "nurse" with no experience getting more degrees to make more money. No wonder healthcare sucks.
@buckeye-pe6df When I graduate I'll have 4 years of experience. So, what's the problem?
Because I don't want to be treated like a slave, I'm money hungry? Do you know what a 12 hour shift is like as a RN? This is the problem with a lot of you people, your judgmental about things you know nothing about.
I work with nurses who have been in the profession 8, 15, 25+ years, and they are leaving the bedside in droves because the workload and demands are impossible to meet. Seasoned nurses are feeling anxiety, depression, and burnout. You people won't get it until there are no nurses left to take care of you or your family members.
CEO greed is the problem , like in every other industry. The only people making real money in healthcare are the CEO's.
Thank you I am so happy you got her on here. I saw her on Instagram and everyone wanted her handle but the one that was given was old 🎉😊
Shhhhh…stop telling people, I’m not done with school yet 😂
😂
😂😂
😂😂😂 will be done next yr
So much resonated with this interview! She’s so inspiring. My journey was quite similar to her.
🙏🏽❤
I went right to corrections after graduation from LPN school and chose not to go to a hospital and stay in corrections as an RN. I’m also going to school for my psych np. This was an awesome watch for me
My inspiration to get my PMHNP-BC happened at Rikers 2006. Shout out to Brad H staff at C76 and C95 and Ms. Charles
Thank you so much to this psych NP who agreed to share her time with you for this interview. & thank you for setting up this interview. I definitely learnt a lot & she’s as authentic. Is it possible to have a license for two states say CA & NY/NJ & provide telehealth that way? Or is it hard due to massive client volume? This was really amazing! 5star!! 🤩
yes you can have multiple licenses
Very smart lady, I'm glad she knows her value. Great to hear her story!
I’m so glad you were able to get this interview been following for some time she has definitely made her mark in the mental health world. Psych is definitely a great specialty that will continue to rise, Mental Health is Health!!!!!!
Stunning character. Best wishes to you Iman. Thank you for sharing your story from a PMHNP student
I loved this interview! i had two people tell me about it because they know I am going into psych nursing. I would love to know if she made 600k herself or did her business make 600K. Also, there is a way to make that kind of money and practicing in NY is one of them. I spoke to a psych NP who lived and practiced in another state and in NYC as well. I would love to see a video on the barriers to becoming a psych NP and how to avoid them. Its cool that she makes so much but I see ppl having to drop out of programs because they do not have a preceptor or the schools are saturated now.
Great video and wish both of you all..
So inspiring . Loved this video
I love the videos keep them coming!! In a few years I’ll be on your platform for sure!! And we can reference this comment! Undergrad future male nurse here going into my junior year and hardest semester in the fall💪🏾
This video came in at the right time since I just left a job interview 40 mins ago for a rn psy position lmao
This is interesting…I train chatbots and we teach and correct them regarding psych related harm…This is a great interview. She’s a super star!
This is my favorite type of videos from you
Wow, she is a boss queen, thank you for this interview. It really answered a lot of my questions. God bless!
Yes she has the New York accent. It’s almost like a newyorican accent. I saw a video doc on how Spanish has influenced the New York accent. I love language.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your hustle and your morals…..BUT I agree!!! You need backup! ❤ I’m so impressed and relatable to so much of what you said. I’m currently in the process of enrolling in PMHNP now….and look forward to increasing my capabilities to improve the quality of life for others! I have worked in mental health many years! It’s where I belong. You could expand to other states….so I can cover Arkansas for you 😉! Just keep me in my mind. You’re beautiful and super motivating. Please please please make sure you take care of yourself physically and mentally!! ✌🏼🫶🏻😊
Oh and I can definitely agree that working in a prison is much safer the other settings. I worked at a maximum security prison as a DON as well as working as the HSA at another…. If you are there for the right reasons and show your “patients” respect, they will treat you like a queen! Thanks for sharing!
This was an interesting watch, it was mostly rapid fire, very personal questions, but it was nice that she was gracious enough to answer them and cordially. I wish there was more flow from the interview rather than jumping from one thing to the next. Still, I get it with the limited time.
Thanks for the feedback!
Wow! A pnp making 600k thats is amazing. Salute to her thank u so much for this story its so inspirational. Keep it coming… blessings ❤
Good morning, I been homeless since 2014. I need Section 8, asap. I appreciate it. Thank you very much.
Great interview Jason. Thank you 🙏 ❤
Jamaica to the world🎉❤ thanks for Mommy
Very good interview queen i finish my pmhnp in December god willing ! I needed this
God blessed you i am happy that you are fine after that accident
I love this! Please encourage her to do her checks and balances and audit her billings periodically because she will be under extra scrutiny. It is evident that she is living her life unapologetically as she should because she is putting in the work.❤🇯🇲🇨🇦
I used to date a nurse who worked in a prison. God bless her she deserved every penny for what she had to endure.
Your channel is fantastic and so helpful. Im a late bloomer and only starting nursing at 39. Im Filipina and live in Australia. Disability nursing is very lucrative here and if you work in remote areas, pays $200+ an hour (even more on weekends and public holidays).
Woww, is that an agency job, which agency is that? I'm a new graduate and I live in Perth, WA. Can u plz give me some information about the company or
agency maybe?
I’m in the city too was in an accident too and just graduated too in primary and I went to FAMU too ..looking to be autonomous too one day ❤️❤️❤️
Hey fellow NYC Rattler! 🐍🧡💚 I’m not a Nurse, but I’m a Physical Therapist (and Singer/Songwriter).
That whole seatbelt experience is so true. I had a road trip across country and I was so tired of the seatbelt because it was becoming uncomfortable. Fortunately, my car had a feature that if you don’t have your seatbelt on, it beeps . Eventually, I got so tired of the beeping that I put my seatbelt back on less than two minutes later a massive deer jumps out of the forest and we total our car. I injured my arm pretty bad. I know that if I didn’t have my seatbelt on I would have hit the dashboard with my face.
Excellent interview!
I love this interview ❤ Very inspiring
Awesome interview! She is an inspiration.
So inspiring! ❤
So proud fi see Jamaican people Pickney a prosper cum thru goods ❤️❤️❤️. God bless you and yuh nice clean madda. Am a Jamaican born and raised . Am currently a lpn living in America am thinking of going bk to school next year. Thank you for all you do and all the information you have given. I appreciate it 🇯🇲🇯🇲
love her! she’s so inspirational as a fellow immigrant psych rn. goals fr
Yes Jamaican!!!
Thats good she set her boundaries at the end of the video.
Very inspiring story. But low taxes in Essex County NJ. Impossible. But congrats!!🎉
FNP to psych NP might be the move!
Hah, that's what I'm saying! Psych NP is the golden ticket.
Love to hear more from CA Psych Nurses on how they are doing. I have 2 RN daughters and one of them start to burn out as an ER Nurse (with patients and bully nurse(s) cutting her hours)
I was waiting for her to say her background was from Jamaica 🇯🇲 I could hear the accent along with the NY accent! Great job 👏🏽 I work with NPs daily as a clinical recruiter. This is the path I ultimately encourage.
Beauty with brain ❤❤
She's amazing!
Wonderful interview ❤❤.
Can you share information on Psych RN...best States or Institutions to work?
Google
would love to know which billing company she uses. that seems to be the hardest find is a reputable biller who truly knows what they are doing. thank you for having her on the show. investing in section 8 properties, are you allowed to do quarterly internal house inspections to make sure the tenants are keeping the space clean?
Reputable medical biller here with 18 years experience.👋🏾 I have a billing business and teach medical billing as well. This was an excellent interview!
@@AskTheBillercan you teach me how to do billing .
Wonderful interview!!!
So inspiring ❤
Wow she is gorgeous she looks like a Queen. Very elegant and funny. She inspires me a lot i’m going into nursing school and hoping to open my own clinic as well so people can get the treatmanet and care I wish i got. My city everywhere just treats people poorly. I want to make a change and build a good team that cares as well.
She has a Brooklyn accent. ENY, Brownsville or Canarsie.
Please interview nurses from Australia 🇦🇺
What's crazy to hear how well these nurses are paid . But I have gotten nothing but horror stories from people treated in both high end and low end psychiatric facilities....
I see so so many blk women doing big things in America even on the dating shows they seem to be doing great .😮
Lol!!! I heard reliable stories about many people working in the correctional/prison have affair /sexual activities/ acts with the prisoners, guards,etc...that is what i remembered when she said " It is safe but there are people doing something that they should not be doing i can see it in her eyes the moment she said it😅"
Yes! I’m a psych nurse in NY- level 1 trauma- in the ER- I make 150k yrly & could easily make more - if I put in the over time- but it’s draining! She said 150 is no money- I disagree- compared to 600k- it’s not, but, 150k is a good living- let’s not get demeaning to the masses! Lol- I’m considering going for my NP- although I think you can do this with just your RN- with some limitations of course!
She was saying it’s no money in real estate development she wasn’t talking about making
@@tehjon111 She said she was earning 150k and thought that was good, but went to a realtor who told her that 150k was no money & so she decided to wait until she had more cash to purchase real estate- that was my understanding- but, it hurt my ears for anyone to suggest that 150k is no money - I live an amazing lifestyle with 150k and wouldn’t want any of the listeners to think that wasn’t a great income- it’s all relative- if you want more, you make more but, you can certainly make 100-150k and be very comfortable….
It’s no money to her that’s her preference it’s not enough for me either
@@Jaycarbrownie12 Lol- 150K is good money- if you want more that’s cool but you can certainly live your best life with 150k- I’m not feeding into the Bouchie mentality- you have I good life- because I sure am 💯🥰 💰 💴
It’s bougie*
Loved this interview
Shes adorable
Most US citizens can’t afford to see any medical professional..
Trying to make this my career path whoot
What an inspiration ❤🎉🎉
This is very inspiring. I'd be interested in understanding how her reimbursement structure and payer mix are working out. Assuming she does a blend of med management visits which are about 15 minutes and one hour counseling sessions, I can't see how that adds up to 600k working 48hrs. Not hating just genuinely curious
Wish she didnt disclose her income on social media. We dont want our specialty to get saturated! 😂
Lack common sense
Exactly! 😂😮
@naphisa Don't be selfish and mean, bless others and you will receive in a 1000 folds. Let's help those in need the need is huge. I have a part time and I make 300k.
@@annem2980 I she was joking tho' but yeah we gotta help each other out!
Already about to happen. Every nurse I know wants to be a CRNA or PMHNP
Nice questions., appreciate the info 42:42
Enjoyed the interview. Would be curious to know how much she charges per hour, insurance vs cash rates/reimbursement, and whst her growth looked like monthly as far as clinetelle goes. She mentioned she just slowly grew it on the side but what did that growth look like?
I want more specifics :)
So she does counseling and provide medication in her private practice?
Yes, correct.
What NP school did she choose?
Love this and she’s so beautiful! I’m inspired 😍🥰😍❤
It’s so refreshing to hear young people talk about loyalty to the profession vs the company!! Then succeed in spite
Really need to title this NURSE PRACTITIONER instead of just nurse. That's like saying the RESIDENT MAKES $600K instead of DOCTOR MAKES $600K. Or INTERN MAKES $600K vs SENIOR ANALYST MAKES $100K. There's a difference in education, experience, and time.
What NP school did she attend? Also what she said about getting assaulted in the hospital is completely true, unfortunately. 6 years med surg here and it’s allowed for patients to hit us, spit on up, throw a full urinal at us, etc.
So proud of you.
Thank you for the interview Jason. Keep going. d^_^b
Thanks for watching!
What was the name of the nurse who she refers questions at the end of the interview ? think she said it was I am Nurse….?
Essex County 🙌🏾
She has a New York accent with a Hispanic flare
You can make 15k a month being a traveling Rn.
You can make that, and more, as a staff nurse in Northern California. My coworker is letting me react to her paystub and you're going to be surprised to see that it's pretty easy for us to make what travelers make over here.
@@NursesToRiches I hope to be able to experience that in the next two year. I just enrolled back in school for nursing. Wish me the best of luck.
@@NursesToRichesso you say RNs can easily make 15k a month in Northern CA but what about NP’s?? Do they make even more than RNs. In Northern CA? Or no?
Please explain.
