Motion clarity is amazing, I'm actually foolowing roof jumpers in CODIII perfect, where before I couldnt on my 120 VA, well no where near the accuracy I have now. Thing is a beast, I actually pref this over my 65" LG CX TV when playing single player stuff.

Would be cool if you could test out the asus 2560x1440p 480hz hz monitor. how much do you care about matte vs. glossy? ive from the monitor guy that the protective film makes the asus one look glossy even though it's matte.

I got mine 4 days ago and Ilove it! I upgraded from a 1080p 144hz so its a big upgrade. Stangely Ive sat in front of it for hours and havent had an issue with eye straining. I also changed the option to FPS which made it a bit brighter.

I wonder if this is an issue with oled monitors, I've went though 6 different ones so far and same issue after a few weeks where it will just randomly go black and you have to fully power it off and on even though the light is indicating it's on, and pc is recognising it still as connected
Only got LG left to try, and had their oled TV for years, so I'm going to try that lmao

Ah man this is tough to hear! Saw so many good things about the previous Alienware 34in OLED that I was excited to possibly pick this one up. We will have to see what the offerings from other companies look like I guess. Hopefully they do not have the same issues. I guess the only good thing about this is the 3 year warranty that Alienware has would make it easy to get a new monitor.

I have this monitor and everything about it is awesome! The color, the response time, the customization is solid. Only downside is it’s capped at 144hz through hdmi which sucks for me because I stream and will eventually upgrade to the 2.1 capture card which can do 240hz. So I won’t be able to use the monitor at a higher refresh rate while streaming. So I feel I’m wasting the hz capacity on this monitor. Other than that it’s a great monitor.

I'm coming from an LG 34" IPS 160hz panel and I'm pretty happy with the AW2725DF so far. It's not quite as bright, but the colors, pop, HDR is sweet, and it's SO smooth in comparison. No eye strain so far, but I'll see how it goes throughout the coming week - I'm only on about day 3 now. I think I will keep the monitor, but it's good to know that all is not perfect, despite what you would see if you were watch only Badseed or LTT videos on it. Appreciate the honest review!

Welp..... this concerns me. I currently have the lg 27gr95qe, was looking at upgrading to this... wondering if this is a common issue??? If it is might skip it... but the new 27gr95um looks tempting, I do know LG is releasing the 27gs95qe at Somepoint soon, or should I just wait for Msi's variant?

    • @Baconator119
      @Baconator119 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

The LG 240 Hz OLED has equal motion blur to a 360 Hz Zowie TN Panel. Why would you upgrade for an imperceptible difference?
Like, for some things I get it. There used to be a huge argument about 60Hz vs 30Hz and whether or not the difference was noticeable, when clearly it was once you had used 60Hz Refresh Rate. But diminishing returns are diminishing returns. I think you would gain a much larger, and at least a perceivable advantage waiting for a 4k 240Hz OLED vs a 1440p 360Hz OLED just due to raw image quality.

@@zxSwifty I also watch movies and shows on my PC almost as often as I game. For me it just comes down to true colors. I will probably never own an LCD over an OLED because of this. Also, other monitor types tend to give me headaches if I look at them for too long, regardless of frequency.
Maybe 1% of FPS player will be able to distinguish between 240hz and 360hz, and 540hz. Its to the point of diminishing returns

Seems like we're in the same boat waiting for 480 Hz OLED, then.
I actually had a very similar issue with one of my older ZOWIE monitors - had to create a custom nvidia profile with a lower refresh rate just to be able to show an image, but since yours doesn't display anything at all, I'm sure it's a hardware issue. This really sucks.

Upsetting to hear. I have the PG27AQN and I love it, but I also have an LG 42" C2 in my living room that I watch movies on and play the occasional Forza sesh on (or any other game I like better with a controller). I wanted to combine the two, and was really excited for this. However, I just dont think OLED technology is there for monitors yet. QC issues are really apparent with these Samsung QD-OLED panels and W-OLED panels do not get bright enough. Then theres text fringing on desktop use, as well as the constant threat of burn in. Even though IPS isn't as good in terms of sheer quality; especially after this video, I still choose IPS over OLED.

Unfortunately, preferring a curve limits my choices to almost exclusively VA panels, not including this particular (overpriced) OLED panel.

This video is a blessing and a curse because I bought the Alienware 31.6 inch 4k AW3225QF monitor and as of right now I’m having eye fatigue/strain and occasionally blurry vision. Again I bought this monitor back in June from Best Buy but I was casually using it. I’m a 3D artist and as of last week or so I’ve been spending more hours on my monitor. Some during the day and some during the night. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I’m thinking about returning the monitor which sucks because it took me several other monitors to find one that I liked.
Is there any chance these vision issues could go away? Should I reach out to someone from Dell/Alienware? Or I may have to go see an optometrist.

I would venture a guess and think it's the unusually subpixel structure that makes some have eye straining on OLEDs reading text. Unfortunately both WOLED (LG Display) and QD-OLED (Samsung Display) has other subpixel layouts than what Window's and most OSs are used to. This can be mitigated with higher pixel densities, say 4K at 27" panels or if Windows makes text render differently than up til now, or that OLEDs will have the normal RGB pixel layout.
Samsung had a triangular RGB layout, while LG uses RWGB and will use RGWB in the upcoming panels, we shall see. You can also use a program called MacType, but it doesn't fix rendering for all programs. Good luck 👍

@@wangmingchu1379 you probably sit farther away from TV than you do your Samsung monitor, harder to notice the colour fringing then. Also, as I said, they both have abnormal subpixel structures; LG's actually the furthest from atypical - it's just the triangle shaped RGB layout of Samsung that makes theirs also fringe, but differently from each other. If you have a game like Counter-Strike, hop in and choose a yellow crosshair, and walk straight up to your LG OLED screen, you'll see it fringe and look a bit off. 🙃

I have the same experience with the ASUS pg27aqdM (their 2023 flagship 1440p 240Hz OLED) and am in the process of returning it. It has incredible responsiveness and HDR in the right conditions, but the drawbacks outweigh that by a longshot in my opinion.
The desktop experience is awful and causes the same eyestrain and headaches as in the review. Text looks bad, and anything other than HDR content looks dark and severely undersaturated (including non-HDR video and older games). Add that to the fact that I had to do so much work calibrating it, I have to use it in a pitch black room to get the best out of it, and I have to worry about how I use it to prevent burn-in, and I've come to the conclusion that OLED monitors are more of a chore than an enjoyable experience right now despite their superior peak performance under the right conditions.
Funnily enough, my main monitor before I got the OLED was an ASUS ROG PG279Q (the grandfather of the PG27AQN in this video), and now I'm convinced I should just get the PG27AQN to tide me over for a few years until OLEDs are truly ready for prime time.

New LG 480hz is advertised "flicker free" and blue light reduction (-50% compare to average ips) so i'm curious to have your feedbacks on this once you can get your hands on the lg model

OLED for FPS games is for sure nice bcs of the minimal response time of the monitor. But it feels like the real advantage of an OLED is about single player games. Games with a beatiful crafted world where you can see the colors pop. Back then Ghost of Tsushima was a real treat to play on my QD-OLED TV. Even tho I feel that at times there was almost too much color pop. But thats more like a Samsung problem. For some reason when it comes to the TVs gaming mode they always brighten up the shadows and make everything just a bit too Korean for my taste

One question now they will come the new oled with 2.1 displayport (the Hp and Aorus are first already ) but the thing is that i want to buy 4090 but it afford 1.4 dp.
The 7900xtx supports 2.1 but is not powerful like 4090.
So after all what do you recommend ?Go for monitor ips or oled ? Or 4k or 1440p ?
i play in old monitor xl2546 not K and i want to build a 4090 with 7800x3d Pc.... But the display Port is so important? We see the difference? Thanks

I have this monitor coming on Monday or Tuesday, so hopefully I receive a good unit. I have used the Alienware 34" oled for a bit over a year, and it has worked well for me. The power button and joystick failed on the first unit, but it was a painless process to exchange it, which is the main reason I would still stick with Alienware and their 3 year warranty.

@FreshReviewsYT I did receive mine tonight. I think it's just the fact I have used a curved monitor all year, but the screen borderline felt convex to me when I started it for the first time. I got adjusted to it after a couple of hours. For the first time in a year, I felt like I could actually track and click on people consistently.

@ickabodunk No issues in maybe the first six hours of use. I read up that people going from a curved monitor to a flat screen again experience a sort of fish eye lens effect, so I can confirm my panel isn't broken in that regard.

Hey i know I'm a bit late but i think I know whats causing the eye strain. Try to use the sRGB mode on your next display. When you enable any wide gamut mode and view content that's designed for sRGB like games or any browser activity like TH-cam, colours look oversaturated, and i feel like these oversaturated colours are piercing my eyes. I've had that issue with the oled screen on my phone. Once i disabled the wide gamut mode, everything was easier to look at.
I heard somewhere that oversaturated colours appear brighter to the human eye, even at the same luminance as a less saturated colour. Combining that with viewing displays like these in a dark room and your eyes are bound to feeling strained. Hope that helps

    • @FreshReviewsYT
      @FreshReviewsYT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

It’s interesting because many people on Reddit reported that some of these new Samsung displays used on the Alienware have an issue with some colors in particular being more saturated than others causing eye strain

I've had the monitor since it came out when I bought it for pre-sale and it hasn't given me any problems, I'm always aware of turning them off when I turn off the PC. because you don't realize if it's really off or not xD and well, I play it many hours a day and when I turn off the PC to go to sleep it does its job automatically to refresh the pixels. no problem with mine. How sad that that happens to you.

Nice video but to be honest i would get the gigabyte 32 inch 4k dp 2.1 because it has a switch to go from 4k to 1080p so the image on your monitor becomes 24 inch or so i rather have best of boy worlds instead of just 1 of em but that's my opinion but keep up the good work:)

G6 from Samsung will be the only Matte which will be better for you, or wait for Matte 240/480 WOLED Asus, they have a 27 inch coming out alongside the 32 inch. LGs will be 32 inch which isn’t the most optimal for Competitive FPS. But great review as usual.
