as always your hilarious and yes you are literally the first reviewer that even has the brains to understand hdmi 2.1 bandwidth has lower input latency and feels much better . DSc is an algorithm that compresses the hell out of all that data and people think that is for free? There is no penalty? Give me a break , feels night and day better native . Keep doing you man , channel is going # 1
Theres always a price for everything. Like how when you watch this Channel you feel Zorz. :) I agree completely DSC feels off to me - Native is always better. Not to mention looks better. You're in the Zorz Family for sure and I deeply appreciate you!
Any source to confirm the higher latency and lower quality? I wanna see numbers or I ain't sweating it. With modern hardware lossless compression can be done at unnoticeable delays if the implementation is good.
the only review that takes a look to real problems like dldsr, dsc and flickering. Every other "pro" reviewer doesn't even want to touch this issues with a 10 foot pole. and that makes this review the best one, took a look to the others and well, great content, much better than the typical channels, subscribed
Got the monitor, and yea it's pretty Zorz. But one thing I would like to add is that DSC also disables Integer Scaling, which is pretty useful for older games that dont support higher resolutions. These new OLED monitors are amazing, but I feel they're not quite ready yet because we can only take full advantage of them with DP 2.1 or HDMI 2.1. No eyestrain issues here btw. Cant wait for your next video dude!
I always thought my Asus PG27AQN was a bad purchase, IPS glow was terrible and I had a dead pixel, everything else was grate, but I’ve gone Oled now and I can’t go back.
The majority of games are created in the sRGB space so if you don’t want the gamut clamp use Gamer 1 with gain set to 98/99/100. This gives you the saturated colors without green tint.
Great video. Love that you're trying to track down these issues to help us better understand the newer edge technologies that are coming out for these monitors. Mine is about 5 years old and I had no idea about DLDSR, the diff between DCI and HDMI, etc. Hopefully they can figure out the eye strain issue on the monitor. You were mentioning the ASUS and how great the colors are - that highly saturated coloring looks off to me. I liked some of the color settings you showed on the Dell better actually. I probably won't touch any of this though unless it comes down to $400-600 or something in that range. I like seeing what you can get for more but don't think it would be worth it for just normal Call of Duty or random survival gaming.
SWING! My man! Asus colors are medicore considering its not an OLED but given the 360 hz and the feel of it AND the ULMB they are damn good. Nothing really is amazing just yet unless you can get the asus 360 for a good price, or get the 165 oled 34 inch for a good price.
Im still enjoying my old LG C2 but I really like your reviews of these new OLED monitors. You really get into the weeds with your review and I cant stand mainstream reviewers who don't even play games. Your videos are genuinely awesome to watch. I think you could do well with all sorts of gaming related content!
FWIW, I've had my AW2725DF for about a month now - I use it for work and gaming (over 8 hours use a day) - ZERO eye strain. I'm on this thing all day. Love it
And that's why I made this video! Because I know some people aren't having it so I Really want to figure it out! Something is off for some of us. Like I said it could be hardware related to the first batch or it could be an eye thing that some people are bothered by. My friend had blind spots for a day!
I'm on the same boat, almost no eye strain after using it for hours. I was using a S2721DGF before that used to make my eyes feel very tired after a while. Frequent pauses to look at something else were necessary. It's weird how we have totally different experiences regarding eye strain with (theoretically) the same piece of tech.
Believe me Samsung does NOT care about your retina. I believe it’s the combination of pulsation and ineffective coating. Yes reducing blue light helps, but other monitors are fine with the same color profile. The thing about Samsung is that it has history of doing things when they are already fully of the problems.
Think the eye strain is very dependent on the individual. I have this monitor and was worried about the claims of eye strain from some. I don't have any. With my glasses or contacts.
This is my third comment in a row because it’s way late at night stayed up playing halo and commenting as I watch and pause . Can the gaming community just high five this guy? Man your the man, best reviews in the 9 realms I’m being dead @ss . How you don’t have million subscribers is just more evidence planet earth is backasswards . A 1 minute and 30 seconds video took me like 4 hours to edit. I no longer make videos . Lol I made one and almost wanted to drink bleach half way through editing . No joke man you just need to put out more content consistently where TH-cam algorithm takes time off cat videos and w/e and shows people your channel. @@shrap8 Yo! I probably won't be testing that monitor. I know its damn good though if 240hz OLED is what you're looking for. Better brightness and issues fixed from the first edition.
The streets have been waiting for the review to drop zorz, best most in depth one yet. I got impatient and got this monitor upgrading from a 180hz lg ips and I’m blown away. One thing I heard in another review is the guy fixed his eye strain by turning brightness up over 85 percent in sdr. I keep it brightness at about 85 percent (something about pwm dimming on this panel) and I don’t notice any eye strain using this thing but it’s important to bring up. I was also wondering what settings you use in SDR for the best visibility in fps titles? Do you keep g sync on or off?
I think you're one of the lucky ones! no brightness setting ( I tried 85 in sdr) did much of anything. I always keep G Sync off, especially for this testing. I really appreciate your words. If you're not having eyestrain. Don't use DLDSR and dont use DCI-P3 its fucking great...
Oled are not flicker free. Maybe the combination of the magenta tint, sub pixel structure and pulse on 360hz. i have qd led panel and i do not have the magenta reflection when light shine on the monitor. So maybe the layer, sub-pixel and the pulse of 360hz is the problem.
The "flicker" OLED's have is very, very minimal (see Rtings tests). It's nothing like the full/near on-off cycle of other panel types with PWM. It's just a slight variance @ Hz. Some mobile amoleds do have a bad flicker though.
29:13 I can relate to that, I've been playing nothing but older games. But thankfully it's worth revisiting older games on this monitor, I ordered mine not long ago and I cant wait to replay Bioshock at 360fps with inky black levels and responsive controls. I feel like we're at the perfect time to fully take advantage of those games on modern hardware and displays.
Great review, Zorz! Will you review any of the 4K 32'' 240hz monitors by any chance? The Asus Rog Swift PG32UCDM is the one who interest me the most personally.
I would absolutely love too just not sure I have the Budget for it. Unlike the guys with hundreds of thousands of subs its all my limited funds. Unless someone wants to send it to me...
hey I was also thinking about returning my alienware because of really bad eye pain for the first week, but after that it dramatically improved I can use it now with no problems.
Yo thanks for this video. Here is an update from dell regarding dldsr. “The Displays Team is working on an AW2725DF firmware update that will allow disabling DSC in the Menu OSD, hence enabling DLDSR/DSR on DP. ETA is TBD. Note, when DSC is disabled, the maximum refresh rate of 360 Hz cannot be achieved on DP.”
That's amazing to hear, has the updated firmware released yet? What hz is achievable at DSC turned off? I just purchased this monitor during the $470 sale.
@@jonathantran5821never got the update but they were working on it. Ended up getting the samsung g60sd. The hdmi is full speed so I get the 360hz through hdmi. Colors are insane as well
@@BitMANcnft That's incredible the g60sd can reach the full 360hz over hdmi 2.1. I've read that the MSI 271qrx can only reach 345hz with dsc turned off. Making me think if I should return mine.
Hey Zorz, nice review! Love your content. You're probably the best and most enjoyable monitor reviewer I've come across. Just wondering if the MSI MPG 271QRX is something you'd review in the foreseeable future?
Legit never heard of the Clash IP before but it seems like a banger recommendation. Gonna give it a go later tonight! As for the monitor, I've personally sold my first gen 240hz oled because I got tired of dealing with early adopter issues. I'm now just waiting for BenQ's 540hz ugly ass TN monitor and will run that until OLED matures a bit more as monitor tech. Thanks for the review and game recommendation!
Thank you so much! I've seen you on the Channel for years. I got a buncha mice reviews coming soon, this damn monitor shit takes a long time :)! You like gorgeous and flexible or are you playing for money?
@@ZorzGaming thanks for the suggestions! i just finished watching your recent unboxing video (It some how didnt make it to my notifications even though i have them on lol) and i have my sights set on an asus monitor now :)
Doing testings. It looks like you can enable dsr factors with hdmi. However, it is definitely not full speed. Display is capped at 144hz. Meaning dsc is enabled or not a full speed. Pardon my redundancy.
Weird thing is that DLDSR works on my 27GR95QE over DisplayPort 1.4, which engages DSC. Kind of weird since NVIDIA themselves even say it’s incompatible. I use HDMI 2.1 anyway tho since it’s there.
I have the MSI version and it's killing my eyes. I don't know what to do because I can't live with the CPC on the WOLED ones. That's another issue no one mentions.
That shit is still on on the new 27 inch one? That's one of the main reasons I had to get rid of mine because it made using it for anything other than gaming a fucking nightmare. And yes, the eye issue isn't tolerable. Personally I'm back on a TN panel.
Nope. Neither. I wouldn't get either at this point. I'd get the DWF Alienware 34 inch (non gsync) 1440 widescreen as the best all around monitor. If you want competitive look to Zowie and Dyac. Or the Asus 360 which does everything.
Do you think the cause of the eye strain could be fixed with a software update or does the monitor itself have to be changed? I’m contemplating getting this because I’m usually fine when it comes to eyestrain and the specs on this monitor is just too tempting.
Very strong video. As someone thinking about buying this thing (friend dropped my old monitor and rn I'm stuck on a 24" 60hz) and as someone whose monthly income is lower than the price of this one (apprenticeship, it'll get better) I think maybe I'll stick with 1080 for a bit longer and watch as the situation develops.
@@ZorzGaming neither really, I just crave the qd oled that they released at my preferred size, resolution and not curved. I would call myself a casual gamer tho my setup doesn't really reflect that
Best review ever :) (from South Korea) I play Rust Rust is like PUBG(not really but i have to explain so :>) Which monitor do you recomand to me? Asus pg27aqn or aw2725df ( I don't think i'll use ulmb2 even i buy pg27aqn i heard that makes eyes tired)
If I understand correctly the problem is eyes strain because of glossy surfaces coating of the screen and and it magnifies the light from screen directly into your eyes - *the same shit happening when you accidentally watch on welding (please never watch on welding without eyes safety mask or glasses).* And as I understand you don’t have this issue with a 21:9 QD-OLED monitor where is added more layer that gives you additional to horizontal and vertical also diagonal refractors - *buy 3M company’s matte film for cover your display for $30* - may be it will be helpful.
Wow! That's a very interesting theory and sounds very probable. I actually got an email from Alienware trying to figure it out - so they still don't know either.
I'm upgrading to this OLED from an LG L204WT-SF from like 2004 so I'm gonna be blown away no matter what! Love your reviews. Wish I'd gone with a 4060 or better when I upgraded last month but only chose a 3060 12GB. Should be fine for me, though.
Yah should be fine! And thank you so much. If you watched the whole thing though do you really wanna buy this? Huge risk to say the least. Course you can always return.
@@ZorzGamingYou were right about the eye strain as mentioned before but you were also right that the 3060 12GB is just fine. I'm not getting 100 FPS on very many new games but even 60-80fps is fast for me :)
I updated even though it was the same one. I talked about it. Didn't do anything cause its the same one that shipped. The firmware still shows Jan 10 on the website.
Thank you mr zorz for the review! Good to see an unbiased review and laying out the pros and cons, for me most of the cons arent too much of a problem the main 2 being i have a monitor arm / my card doesnt have 2.1 hdmi. The one thing i am a bit iffy about is the eye strain but i guess you never know until you try it. I have been on the first iteration of the xl 2546 (non k version) which has dyac ( not even dyac + ) and the gsync really isnt great on it. I have had it since 2016 and its finally time to upgrade! With this OLED being the cheapest offering in the UK so far i had to take a chance and see what its like as i would think it should be a massive jump up from my 2546! Once again i really appreciate the review and the honest thoughts! You truly are Zorz 🎉
Takes one to know one! If you don't care about DCIP3 and dont intend to ever utilize the magnificence of DLDSR then try it. But... it literally might hurt. Bad.. I hope it doesn't!
@@ZorzGaming update on the purchase, got it and have played for 6 hours plus! No eye strain whatsoever so I am a lucky one from the looks of it. It looks beautiful and it's silky smooth. Pretty much no flicker on vrr for me except on certain menus but doesn't affect gameplay or not content whatsoever! Not sure what's going on with dell though they sent me my money back so I thought they cancelled my order but still sent me the monitor. I'm not complaining though 😂
Yea I been using Nvidia DLDSR I got an AMD video card just because people said theirs has better text, it looks super good. I've been using 1440p on a 1080p screen for years now 😅. Especially good for productivity. I agree 4k monitors literally waste. I would just get a 1440p 32 inch and run AMD super resolution at 4k 🤓 Didn't know the issues with dci-p3 and HDMI, Thanks
Thanks for watching and being Zorz! Yah the Alienware 34 inch 165 (Or 157) is still the best OLED you can get IMO. Because if you're playing for money you're not playing on OLED.
@ZorzGaming can you clarify why because most reviews state OLEDs have lower refresh times and input lag than most fast TNs and IPs monitors. Besides don't they say 360hz would be the equivalent of 480hz on an LCD panel?? Of course you might have marginally better motion clarity with Dyac/ULMB2 but responsiveness and clarity in game should balance the playing field??
Its not even close In my opinion. I come from the CRT days so motion blur is a nono. You buy OLED for gorgeous not to win. Winning still involves faster and less motion blur for me but it also depends on the game you play. For more modern machine gun games like Apex it might not be as big of a deal but for flick shot 1 shot head shot games like CS or Valorant its not close. Personally I cant stand motion blur. @@themetamind9305
Did you just compare pg27aqn with aw2725df? I have seen the rtings video where they showed checkboard test comparison and local dimming comparison and rated asus around 5.9 in checkerboard test and 3.5 in local dimming test compared to 10 rating given to Alienware monitor... Are you saying that rtings test is false and there is no blooming around the bright objects in asus monitor like they are claiming on their site..? They are not claiming it, there is actual side by side comparison and asus did horrible..
thanks for the reviews i got the LG OLED 2K 240 hz and love it , i 'll wait for the 360hz version ( if he come ) , as you said , you are the only one who talk about the dsc and the capability of HDMI 2.1
What would be a better recommendation? Got this monitor a few days ago and couldn't find many reviews. Now I see this and a bit bummed I spent so much only for it to not have HDMI 2.1 and a few other things (good or bad)
Its a really big difference one is widescreen 32 inches and one is smaller and lower resolution but higher hz... depends on what games you played. And I'm Zorz'ed by you my friend!
the dumb decision of alienware to limit the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth is a deal breaker, you could run 240hz 1440p without DSC now the monitor is limited to 144hz due that crippled HDMI. QD OLED I believe uses the blue led to increase the brightness of any color, if the coating is reflecting back that light it might cause the issues with the blue light being too strong and hence eye strain, I found my Nano IPS LG panel to cause me eye strain due the backlight looking light a flashlight on my monitor, I don't like it either. so I guess it's just a try thing, everyone is different. I would also try the LG OLED which uses MLA to mitigate the light reflected back to the monitor to increase the brightness efficiently.
i have had 1080p, 1440p and 4k monitors. my biggest issue is i prefer 24 inch for fps games, and 27-28 inch are just too big, i lose focus. but yes dldsr/dsr on a 1440p looks amazing, you just need a monster GPU, 4080/4090. i dont really like dldsr/dsr on 1080p (fps games tho) sure it looks better, but its still not as crisp as native, always going to be some sort of blending of the pixels, but sure, maybe in single player games, non fps games, and 4k monitors. i use to run a custom resolution on a 28 inch monitor, to simulate a 24 inch screen, it was amazing, but 144hz is not it. what i want to see is a 24.5 inch 4k 240hz, so i can have amazing quality, for web browsing, media, gaming, and also be able to run 1080p with integer scaling, and have a perfect 1080p image, if i want higher fps
Yes that would be ZORZ and Elite! Yah the DLDSR is only for fun single player experiences and with a monster card like I mentioned. The Asus 360 is the only one that can do as much as you just requested at this time.
I love ya back! Thanks for being Zorz! You trying to play for real? Not the OLED! If your computer is really up to it I'd buy a used 2566k and save money and wait for the XL2546x. If you want pretty graphics with 1440 then get the PG27AQN and use ULMB2, but if you're playing for money I have a feeling the new Zowie will be king.
Gamer 1, contrast 75%, gain 98/99/100 targets 6500K and unlocks the full color gamut so a perfect option for someone who wants to play with over saturated colors.
if you are playing in sdr, you can just tweak it (your tone/balance or any other # of paramters) with reshade on a per game basis (or special K). There are HDR filters too, which are especially useful for fixing some notable PC games that have broken HDR implementations (where the game think's you are running 4000nit or 10,000nit screen unless you set the parameters in the 3rd party filter).
I experienced eye strain and headaches while using the LG 27GR95QE before returning it. It's strange because I don't have any problems with other monitors or OLED TVs. I have preordered the 32 inch model. I will see if I have the same thing. Thank you for your video. Keep it up!🙂
Unfortunately I think the problem is just the PWM flicker, which is abominable on this screen. Maybe you're more sensitive to the 360hz PWM than to the 175hz PWM of the ultra-wide... Have you tried playing at 144hz to see if it's better? On Oled, the PWM frequency changes according to the Hz used and normally the higher the hz, the less visible it is, but normally for it to be really invisible for 95% of people, the PWM has to be over 1000hz... Lol Anyway, thanks to you, I know I shouldn't buy it because I'm extremely sensitive to flicker... The Alienware QD-Oled ultra wide was already hurting my eyes...
I used my phone's flashlight and the reflection also produces rays in two directions instead of three, so this monitor's coating is probably different than the ultrawide's and not a defect (I hope)
Can you link to where I can find the ICC profile? I watched a couple of videos by Techless and checked the description of his vides but didn't see anything about an ICC profile. I am interested to try this!
I think the eye strain could actually be from it being an QD-OLED since they use a different subpixel layout. Backlighting on those is also blue instead of white, hence why it felt better with the low blue light filter on
The 34 inch is 2nd gen and the 360hz is 3rd gen and they differ slightly, but it might be worth looking at the MSI 360hz maybe you wont get eye strain there
Is there anyway to turn down the BlueLight on HDR with a PS5 and no PC connected? I’m not finding the settings for that but I’ve been getting eye strain and really wanna try that to turn it down. Thanks for your work amazing video and hoping we get to the bottom of this!
Thank you! My solution was to return it. Eyes are too important to try to figure it out especially since if you use night light on windows everything will look orange and you didn't spend a thousand dollars for that!
I had the exact same eye strain problem with Asus PG279QM 240hz ips monitor. Dropping brightness or blue light helped a little. I never solved the problem so i returned the monitor and went back to samsung g7. Now that you mention it, the screen coating sounds it could be the issue, since i never have had issues with other ips or any other type monitors. My latest monitor LG GR45 oled tends strain eyes also, but it's different and not really that serious. I think it's the sub poxel layout that causes text fringing. Mainly for this reason my eyes are waiting for those new 32 inch 240/480hz dual mode oleds, since they have more traditional sub pixel layout closer to RGB.
Interesting. It's not the QD OLED sub pixel layout though cause the 34 inch Wide oled is fine... its something else. I also think the coating might be doing it for people that are extra sensitive to it possibly...
DSR not being available on these monitors with Nvidia is quite annoying. What would work, if you could lower the refresh rate in the monitor osd, so it stops using DSC. Sadly, many monitors now don't offer a good non-DSC mode. My Samsung Oled G93SC has a "displayport 1.1"-mode, which brings the DSR factors back but drops the resolution to 1080p... And btw, don't worry about the coating, you'll see these types of light reflections on all second generation qd-oleds probably.
A magical thing apparently. Set up your resolution with the 157 10bit trick, then engage DLDSR! It should work! Talk nicely to her and tell her shes beautiful.
try brightness on 90% with creator mode srgb or fps mode 80%. Maybe try low refresh rate to see if your eyes are on the way out and can't handle high refresh rate with saturated colours
Amazing review, very objective. I got this on order, they're very slow to deliver it in EU. Lets see if get eye strain as well. These next gen qd oled that have slightly different pixel layout, but im not sure why that would make your eyes more tired though. When you talk about DSC, did it feel as good(or bad) as your asus 360 hz? Because a lot of people seemed to think its fine on that one. Talking about latency and connected feel. But yeah amazing review, i wonder if that green tint is on your unit alone, will check mine as well.
Thank you! Deeply appreciate it! You'll know within 3 hours if its bothering your eyes. Try it with HDR off on the monitor too to see if it helps. This monitor has a slightly more green tint than other DCI-P3 monitors. I'm going to test DSC on the Asus turning it on and off to see how it feels. The difference isn't monstrous but something about it ... feels better.

@@VLLN.i tried both and had no issue personally. i also heard that alienware updated the firmware on new monitors. which apparently you cannot do with the MSI 271QXP according to their detail sheet (update firmware) also was able to save $200 from Dell and get a $100 statement credit from Amex so it was a no brainer.
I figured it out, 3rd gen panels have higher incidence of bad enough flicker out of box for it to be complained about. 1st gen has it too but to a bit smaller degree which was enough for it to not be talked about.. I think there were also a lot of people who missed out on buying 1st gen and really wanted 3rd to be perfect so any negatives came to light that much more.
Yo zorz, without the eye strain problem which monitor would you choose for competitive gaming after using them first hand ? The 360 oled , or asus 360 with ulmb 2?
@@ZorzGaming so you wouldn’t say 360 hz feels on par with ulmb2 ? What about the input lag difference being asus 360 has to have DSc since not enough bandwidth?
@@TheOneGhost12Input lag difference isnt noticable by humans considering all the other factors. You can see in my video around 6:30 where I show all the different motion blurs. But a still picture doesn't do it credit. It also depends on what kind of game youre playing. For Apex and machine gun tracking games it's not as big a deal. For one shot one kill super serious like CS or Valorant its night and day.
@@ZorzGaming it’s just hdmi 2.1 feels to me noticeably cleaner and more fluid at 240 hz . I’m not sure if by going to 360 hz the higher frames might help compensate and hide the initial buffer of it being compressed by DSC. @@TheOneGhost12You're damn right it does. HDMI 2.1 full bandwidth is elite if its fully supported. Right ULMB 2 is not perfect but still beter. I like Dyac the best but then you're going down to 1080...
So I tried all the previous generation oleds including the LG C3. The eye strain was present on the older models as well, I think it's worse on these generations because more people are noticing that weren't sensitive enough previously. The LG C3 had the least amount of eye strain and it also had the best coating. The LG panels didn't have as much eye strain as the QD-OLEDs so it makes me curious to see if they keep the coating the same on the new 4k models later this year. In conclusion I ended up keeping my AW2721D because it just wasn't worth it. Almost kept an Asus PG32UQX but even on a huge discount it was still too much for not enough improvement. However, the PG32UQX was the best HDR monitor by far. Whatever Asus has done with newer firmware, the blooming is extremely controlled and the HDR brightness is unlike anything else in the monitor market. The monitor hit nits that my 85" X95K miniLED does, except it's two feet away from you and hits you like a brick wall. lol. Oh, and no eye strain on the miniled monitors. So I'm waiting for more miniLED options to become available.
@@ZorzGaming I think you're onto something with how the coatings refract light and how that could lead to eye strain. 48" LG C1 = 4 AW2721D = 6 55" Samsung QLED = 8 85" X95K MiniLED = 8 The LG definitely causes me the most eye strain over time. I had quite a bit of it on the AW3423dwf even though it had more refractions. Could still be apart of the equation. No eye strain on my flicker free AW2721D/Samsung QLED or PWM miniled display. While I had the PG32UQX, I had no eye strain with that either even though it was also PWM. So I guess some of us have to lean into the miniLED department because OLED for whatever reason is causing eye issues. If / when you do another monitor, you should include your findings of refractions and see if there's a pattern. Thanks for the video.
Just gaming? Just single player? The ultrawide at a steep discount every day of the week. The 27 is better at things like text clarity and for competitive shooters, but smaller and more expensive.
No doubt whatsoever dude. AW3423DWF is the best Single player monitor on earth with its capabilities. Check out when I used DLDSR on this thing. Its utterly gorgeous. 360 far to flawed as my review shows.
Just curious if i were to return this monitor how long does the processing usually take because it would be a shame to have to wait an entire month to get a refund

Hey man thank you for this video. I bought this monitor coming from the 280hz Alienware thinking it’d help my eye strain. And it actually is worse.. was wondering if you have a monitor in the 1440p class you’d recommend for eye strain avoidance. All these monitors just seem overly bright
you people seem way smarter than I am so maybe you can help me - My Playstation 5 Wont do 144hz with a 2.1 cable (or at least I can't figure out why?) I have only tried Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade. Ran 144hz (120hz) on my 170hz IPS easily (but doesn't look anywhere near as good as this OLED) Also about the eye strain thing - I haven't noticed any yet but I have only had this thing a few days now. Thanks for the detailed video, will probably try out that Clash AoC game lol
as always your hilarious and yes you are literally the first reviewer that even has the brains to understand hdmi 2.1 bandwidth has lower input latency and feels much better .
@@ZorzGaming welcome to the family brother
Dsc adds latency yes... but less than 1ms. Measure total system latency you'll see !
@@ZorzGaming then, if i set hz on 240 (not limit them but natively), dsc is off true?
Any source to confirm the higher latency and lower quality? I wanna see numbers or I ain't sweating it. With modern hardware lossless compression can be done at unnoticeable delays if the implementation is good.
the only review that takes a look to real problems like dldsr, dsc and flickering. Every other "pro" reviewer doesn't even want to touch this issues with a 10 foot pole.
and that makes this review the best one, took a look to the others and well, great content, much better than the typical channels, subscribed
Thank you so much! Truly appreciate you! Welcome to the Zorz Nation!!! Seriously appreciate your appreciation!
ive been using this monitor for the past days now and no flickering, no eye strain
That's awesome. I still don't know exactly what caused it or why some people are bothered and some aren't.
I hear you dude! I think the 34inch OLED 165hz DWF alienware is the best one there is currently!
How much better is it bc I was leaning towards that monitor.. it’s the 1440 360hz right
The majority of games are created in the sRGB space so if you don’t want the gamut clamp use Gamer 1 with gain set to 98/99/100.
Informative and hilarious

Im still enjoying my old LG C2 but I really like your reviews of these new OLED monitors. You really get into the weeds with your review and I cant stand mainstream reviewers who don't even play games. Your videos are genuinely awesome to watch. I think you could do well with all sorts of gaming related content!
Dude thank you! I deeply appreciate that! Stay with me! Stay Zorz!
@@ZorzGamingI have about 35 hours on mine and zero eye strain whatsoever as well.
@@willreinI had that monitor and not only gave me eye strain but also headaches. With the Alienware oled, zero.
Genuinely fascinating and I'd like to get to the bottom of it! @@willrein
Just returned mine as well. I tried to get used to it for about 3 weeks. I couldn’t get the eye strain to go away.
Yah it simply isn't worth it. Stay tuned for more options.

You're not the only one. I watched on my television though, so I had to raise the volume quite high on my soundbar speakers xD
Now were onto something!! Magenta Reflection, and pulse of 360hz.. We need a fucking scientist to chime in or Alienware to figure it out!
The "flicker" OLED's have is very, very minimal (see Rtings tests). It's nothing like the full/near on-off cycle of other panel types with PWM. It's just a slight variance @ Hz. Some mobile amoleds do have a bad flicker though.
@@Cuthalu I honestly don't know whats causing it but I think having super sensitive eyes is the first big problem. Some people dont!

Hype for that xl2586x review. I bet you're probably in the kitchen cooking that one up now.

If I understand correctly the problem is eyes strain because of glossy surfaces coating of the screen and and it magnifies the light from screen directly into your eyes - *the same shit happening when you accidentally watch on welding (please never watch on welding without eyes safety mask or glasses).*
And as I understand you don’t have this issue with a 21:9 QD-OLED monitor where is added more layer that gives you additional to horizontal and vertical also diagonal refractors - *buy 3M company’s matte film for cover your display for $30* - may be it will be helpful.

@99vv17 I'd not buy this one simply cause the eye issue unless its been resolved.
Excellent Response! Really appreciate it and that makes perfect sense!
i have had 1080p, 1440p and 4k monitors. my biggest issue is i prefer 24 inch for fps games, and 27-28 inch are just too big, i lose focus. but yes dldsr/dsr on a 1440p looks amazing, you just need a monster GPU, 4080/4090. i dont really like dldsr/dsr on 1080p (fps games tho) sure it looks better, but its still not as crisp as native, always going to be some sort of blending of the pixels, but sure, maybe in single player games, non fps games, and 4k monitors.
i use to run a custom resolution on a 28 inch monitor, to simulate a 24 inch screen, it was amazing, but 144hz is not it. what i want to see is a 24.5 inch 4k 240hz, so i can have amazing quality, for web browsing, media, gaming, and also be able to run 1080p with integer scaling, and have a perfect 1080p image, if i want higher fps
Yes that would be ZORZ and Elite! Yah the DLDSR is only for fun single player experiences and with a monster card like I mentioned. The Asus 360 is the only one that can do as much as you just requested at this time.

@@sassankal CS2? You don't want this. You want the xl2586x if you can afford it.
The DCI-P3 standard technically uses a greenish white point. You want D65-P3 for a white point thats more similar to sRGB.
Keep it up!🙂
Thank you! Please let me know your experience and thank you for being Zorz!
Thanks for the kinds words. I didnt really try it on anything lower than 360, I will when I get the new MSI in for sure! Thank you for being Zorz!
Great review , thank you
Great viewee! Thank you! Seriously though thank you very much and welcome to the Zorz Nation!
I used my phone's flashlight and the reflection also produces rays in two directions instead of three, so this monitor's coating is probably different than the ultrawide's and not a defect (I hope)
The blacks Turing grey isn’t a coating problem it’s the oled its self problem
Hi , thanks for your work ..
did you try the ICC profile made by a TH-camr .(. Techless ) for eye strain .
It seem he make a calibration of the panel
I didn't! Damn I wish I had. Unfortunately I sent it back. I don't think we should need a profile to prevent literal pain though :)
Can you link to where I can find the ICC profile? I watched a couple of videos by Techless and checked the description of his vides but didn't see anything about an ICC profile. I am interested to try this!
@@AbyssArcher I don't have it on hand but if you find it let me know please!
I think the eye strain could actually be from it being an QD-OLED since they use a different subpixel layout. Backlighting on those is also blue instead of white, hence why it felt better with the low blue light filter on
It isn't. If you watch the full video I compare it to the QD OLED 34 inch and there are zero eye strain issues there. Its something else!
The 34 inch is 2nd gen and the 360hz is 3rd gen and they differ slightly, but it might be worth looking at the MSI 360hz maybe you wont get eye strain there
Thats the plan! I'm on the list! @@Max-sp6rq
I also got massive eye strain. Returned it because of that - the picture Was awesome tho...
RIGHT!? I really really want to figure this out!!! @@BL4ZE_Ger
I had the Alienware QD-OLED ultra wide and it did the same thing.
I’m with you. I think I’m going to do the same and go with a LG GS
Agreed, and.. interesting. Thank you!
wait how did you do the 10but thing on the ultrawide alongside DLDSR? I thought you cant to custom resolutions and DLDSR at the same time
A magical thing apparently. Set up your resolution with the 157 10bit trick, then engage DLDSR! It should work! Talk nicely to her and tell her shes beautiful.
would you get this for $774 or the alienware 500hz for $344? (for context i have a 27" 4k160hz mini LED mainly got for work but game too)
Whats the highest refresh you can use at native 1440p without DSC? Could you not change it in CRU?
Cant turn of DSC no matter what as far as I could tell - hugely unfortunate. Not with Display Port.
try brightness on 90% with creator mode srgb or fps mode 80%.
Maybe try low refresh rate to see if your eyes are on the way out and can't handle high refresh rate with saturated colours
Interesting. I will try that on the MSI 360 version when I Get it. It's possible that QD Oled at 360 is bothering some peoples eyes.... We will see!
If you did get it, did you have eye strain problems.
@@Andytlp no eye strain
@@dimwillow7113so do you recommend this monitor ? I looking for a nice 1440p oled…
I wanted to buy the alienware but i got the PG27AQN. Maybe in the future i will get oled. Can you share your settings for the PG27AQN please?
I didn't do anything special with it. I used DCI-P3 (wide gamut) though. Also would always have ULMB2 on.
Had no idea dsc locked me out of dldsr, which i use all the time. Deal breaker personally, does the monitor come with a hdmi cable?
It doesn't allow for DLDSR because the DSC is always on. It doesn't come with HDMI cable!
I tested today and you can enable DSR if you use an HDMI cable, but you'll be locked to 60 Hz/max 12 bit or 120 Hz/max 8 bit.
That is interesting and cool but not good enough, but thank you for testing! Appreciate your Zorz investigation! @@willrein

Good Audience :) Thank you!
found any info on 32" having the same eye strain issue?
The 4k one? I haven't tried it but I didn't hear that as much in the forums. Albeit I didn't research it extensively.
Competitive? ULMB 2 always. Motion blur is the enemy.
So your saying hands down ulmb 2 beats 360 hz oled in actual motion performance? What about I have read that ulmb 2 clarity is only parts of the screen ?
I'm back on a CRT. Fuck it.
@@ZorzGaming I think you're onto something with how the coatings refract light and how that could lead to eye strain.
48" LG C1 = 4
AW2721D = 6
55" Samsung QLED = 8
85" X95K MiniLED = 8
The LG definitely causes me the most eye strain over time.
@@DrakonR Thank you for continuing to investigate!

360 far to flawed as my review shows.

you people seem way smarter than I am so maybe you can help me - My Playstation 5 Wont do 144hz with a 2.1 cable (or at least I can't figure out why?) I have only tried Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade. Ran 144hz (120hz) on my 170hz IPS easily (but doesn't look anywhere near as good as this OLED)
