Forgotten? This has given a generation of anime gamers PTSD
Draaaammmaaa quueeeeeeennn
Believe me, we'd all be better off of it was forgotten. *proceeds to annoyingly interrupt you by charging slow time kamehameha*
@@MrAweeze you mean just like in the anime😐😐
To this day, i don't understand how i beat this game as a kid
I liked the game as a kid. Yt wants me to hate it but its good mindless fun.
This was my first Dragon Ball game. It holds a very special place in my heart
the part that clogs ur arteries?
Same here❤
I remember getting stuck on the SSJ Goku vs Frieza fight as a kid because my form would run out and then Frieza would just completely own me. Once I recruited my brother for help, though, we completely flipped the script and kicked Frieza's ass! One of my favorite memories involving this game.
13:33 Also, I would like to point out that they technically did give certain characters like Goku, Gohan, Trunks and Vegeta an ascended super Saiyan form. For example, Goku (ascended) has the standard Super Saiyan form that grants both a speed and power boost, except the only drawback is its meter draining speed. Both Cell Games and Saiyan Armor Goku have the "mastered" Super Saiyan form, which also grants a power boost, an extended timer, but no speed boost. Goku, Trunks and Gohan have separate versions that include both forms, while Vegeta is the only character to have the form without the speed boost, which in that case, would be considered as Vegeta's "Grade 2" form. You can also see a slight difference in the way their aura is displayed when playing as either Goku (ascended) or Goku (Cell Games).
Huh wow I didn't even notice!
My first DBZ game remeber playing this with my brother on PS2. I got nostalgia for the music lol and really liked the little narrated slide shows between levels
I absolutely loved this game for what it is. The music's great, the voice clips that play occasionally, the UI and the super Saiyan mechanic...I love it. I remember having an absolute blast playing this game as a kid--still do to this day. Also can I just say, I freaking love the character icons, Idk, there's just something about them that makes me happy. It might just be the fact that some characters have extra icons for when they transform, which I find that to be really cool.
Sometimes a game can just be fun

You deserve so much more subscribers. Your coverage and analyses compacted by your optimism in light of a game's flaws, you accentuate the pros and cons of a quality game...
If you had a friend or a sibling to play with, this game was actually pretty fun and one thing that it did have that no other game has featured is the What-If Yardrat saga which was a cool touch. This game was basically a very bad prototype of DBZ Kakarot. Also it was the first game to actually have Future Gohan with one arm
I was an Xbox kid growing up, so this was my only dragon ball z game, I remember my brother and I playing it for hours. I still hold it in high regard despite it not being great just because of the memories
This game was a nice relaxer from putting all my time into Budokai Tenkaichi 2 story mode at the time I love the menu sfx and the music ❤
There's one thing I like about this game, just one. The bit of the narration in the opening cutscene that goes "...Thus setting in motion a chain of events that will take Goku far beyond the world he has sworn to protect, and force him to test his might against the most powerful villains the universe has ever known! Will Goku prevail against these deadly foes? It's all up to you, as the journey continues..."
It gives me chills and legitimately even to this day hypes me up beyond most any other DB game out there.
and then it dies with a whimper as I remember I'm playing Sagas.
Bardock and Broly mention?! Let's go 🎉
The game has it's own kind of fun, like stun-locking enemies with your friend.
I loved playing this game with my cousin, we actually played it on Xbox
So many people dislike this game but I always loved it, especially playing as broly and just punting enemies into buildings.
It's a really fun dumb co-op game!
Love this new genre of video where people call very notable pieces of media forgotten and/or underrated
I logged hours in this game with my brother growing up, and until this video popped up in the recommended, I had COMPLETELY forgotten it existed lol
lowkey the slide show clip things were my favorite part of the game as a kid. Not having access to the full show I watched those over and over while I drew stuff.
I had this game as a kid. While it was never my favorite DBZ game, I remember having fun playing with my friend.
I remember there being a glitch during the fight between Vegeta and Frieza when Piccolo was arriving. Once it would reach a certain point on the bar up top, Frieza would transform into his second form, but when I played it, the first form stuck around as the second form frieza came in, so I had to fight two friezas at once as Vegeta
one of the things i loved about this game was comboing into the uppercut, and instead of following it up with the smash, i'd do the kamehameha.
I wish they would re-release the Dragon Ball Game Boy Advance games. They were really fun.
I was thinking the same thing recently, since I'm currently replaying them. 2 and 3 still holds up.
Great review! Love your work.
I got this game when it came out and played it co op with a couple friends. Even at the time we recognized it was kinda bad but we had a blast anyway.
Couldn't agree more!
Now that you mention it, having a Falcouner influenced soundtrack for a home console DBZ, would be fucking SIC!
The execution might not have been great, but the idea was. I remember having a blast with this game with my friends. The only DBZ game that tried something similar is Kakarot, but it's more of an RPG than a beat 'em up.
Look i know its not a good game. But i would be lying if i said i didn't love this game. My little brother and i used to run through the levels as Broly and Bardock.
Also the cutscenes are amazing. Narration was so fun.
I know a lot of people hated this game but i actually enjoy it 😅
oh it's awful. but in that way that's just so stupidly charming.
Piccolo's ears in his character icon.. that is all.
lol my friends laughed at the wigly shirt from Gohan's missing arm. We were 11 year olds:
"Wtf ROFL where's his arm?!?!"
Worst part is I thought he was pretty cool but I happened to have savage friends. So I was really trying to show him off, but they only got as far as teen Gohan, the one everybody loved. There was no streaming so there was gaps in all of our memories of the series.
We somehow broke the game aith Brolg by flying really fast and then making him run which made him run at the speed the superflight took you, maybe even faster couldn't tell. 😂😂😂
I will never forget this game (shivers)
I didn't even know this game existed. had I known back then, you bet I'd have tried to get it on my Game Cube
2 months late but
As someone who never saw the anime and experienced the series for the first time through games like these, I really enjoyed the "cutscenes" for being anime clips
Felt like a way for me to watch the show when I couldn't (no cable, and before streaming services were a thing)
I remember playing this game to death i think i ran snake way 100 times just cause i thought it was so cool to get to play that part as a kid
You know, there is no snake way in this game. Which is weird because I feel like I remember that being a part of this game too... but it's not. Which totally threw me for a loop, but whatever game you're thinking of, and I was thinking of before I played this that featured Snake Way, this isn't it.
@evprince wait WHAT!?? I swear that was a thing huh weird to know that I mixed other games in nostalgia but at least I'm not alone lol
This was one of my only dragon ball games growing up. Love it to death, just wish it could of been WAYY more Fun than what was delivered, but gotta play your Cards no matter what.
Me and my brother have this game. It's my favorite. The prototype androids are my favorite enemies and they should've been in more games.😊
I have PTSD from seeing this box art at the rental store
I literally only played this game, cause I got it from blockbuster.
Never played this game but I may have to try it out as I definitely have my share of "bad" games that I enjoy. Great Review!
Pretty fun 2 player game. If dbz tried a small game mode like this on a main game it’d be pretty dope
I think the reason so many of these games tend to skip Buu is because it would just mean you need to inflate the budget a lot because covering Buu is basically a new game.
like between the Saiyan arc and Cell arc we reuse characters a lot, and the only new characters are the villains and Trunks and like... King Kai. Mostly its just the Z fighters and whoever they are fighting.
but for Buu we have a lot of new heroes to deal with and some of them have mechanical implications like do you want to have Goten and Trunks or just Gotanks, or do you want Gotanks at all or limit them to a special move, how about Vegito? Will that beg questions about Gogeta? How many Buus do you want? What things do you adapt and what do you skip? Cant forget to make a fresh batch of models for SS3 Goku, Krillian, Dende, Vegeta, probably a few for Gohan and if you do that, do you want to show Goku doing the spirit bomb and credits roll or do the 5 years later thing? If so well now we need more new models for everyone and a Pan and Uub model
now.... I think they should do those things.
But I can see a developer saying "Ok tell you what... lets just do Saiyan to Cell and if the game sells well we can do Buu"
I actually share your feelings on this one. It is not a good game... but lord if I didn't enjoy & have fun with it it. Too few games in this series (ESP At the time) are character action/adventure games. Most were and still are fighting games, or at least centered on it with some other stuff bolted on. I actually appreciated (and still do) the fact that it was more focused on being a Adventure game. Sadly this left the fighting being tacked on. As a 3D Beat Em Up Adventure, Sagas wasn't good... but it at least scratched the itch it set out to. For that reason I have a soft spot for it, despite it being a bad game.
Yeah I forgot this game was a thing.
I remember renting this and being soo so disappointed after experience Budokai lmao
MY GUY
ANOTHER BANGERRRR
Tbh, this game was a good first abridged version of the show to show my friend to get him into it. It worked. The co-op was janky but fun
Sagas gets a lot of hate when it's mentioned. People who say negative comments about it didn't play it 'till the end or didn't play it much to understand the gameplay. This game was super fun since I played it with my younger brother. I recommend it with a friend.
I loved this game so much as a kid, I played the crap out of it, both single player and coop. And that’s despite the fact that I also had Budokai 1-3. Even though I know it’s not good, if I were to play it again today, I would probably still enjoy myself 😅.
I never understood the hate for sagas. I loved it as a kid and really wished they had made a sequel. They took some chances by changing the gameplay style and that should be respected. Hopefully in future games developers will implement some different gameplay than just arena fighters
Gotta sub , another peak vid 🔥🤝
Sagas was phenomenal on release. Does it hold up today, no. But was it a banger at the time? Absolutely. The combat was totally unique for a DBZ game, but was similar to other games at the time. Never had a single bad time with Sagas.
I think this was my first DBZ game and I loved it it was very fun and idk why people hated it I played it with my cousin and it was amazing and the Gohan vs cell one gave me PTSD it took me 1 or 2 weeks to finish it😅
This game has a lot of onlys. To this day it is the only Coop DBZ game, and one of the only DBZ games where you can play as one armed Gohan 😂
for me this game was the only adventure game that was pretty well-rounded it was almost the equivalent of legacy of Goku but on a top-tier console and games were a different thing back in the day it wasn't always cinematic or always with a serious plot or tone a game could be goofy and still be enjoyed and I actually also had a great time with it
I hated the bugs & errors in it. Having to reset over & over in boss fights. It was a fun game & i liked yhe combos (if I don't cheese it. Two punches, then stop & repeat will destroy all enemies. It was punches or kcks 🤔). I enjoyed it more after i unlocked everyone. And i wished it was longer or had more modes
So, *this* is the one game that remembers the Pendulum Room exists as the perfect rematch opportunity? Booo, boo I say!
I hope you do the legacy of goku games one day they aren't mind blowing top of the line games but for the time it was a really fun and portable top down arpg made by western devs
Oh I plan to
the reason why the characters look bad was because the main artist was oda, who didn't have much time since he was still writing one piece, the music however has never been released officially so nobody knows the actual composer
Co op was the only positive thing about this game. And Broly.
People say Ultimate Tenkaichi was the worst game (I can’t wait for you to review it) but they never played Sagas and Ohhhh boy it makes UT look like a masterpiece💀
This game needs a remake of sorts.
I enjoyed it as a middle schooler
@evenprince hey bro I got a request video that I will want you to do it's about the Dragon Ball games the rest of them to cover the rest of Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi series Dragon Ball burst Limit the Raging Blast series The Xenoverse series Kakarot and Fighters and also Dragon Ball online Dragon Ball Infinity and Dragon Ball Ultimate Tenkaichi in Dragon Ball Battle of Z please also talked about the game mechanics the DLCs the hidden characters the hidden moves the cutscenes the graphics the hidden surprises inside the game all the way coming towards the new Dragon Ball game Dragon Ball sparking zero the new Dragon Ball Tenkaichi 4
Try playing ultimate Tenkaichi I loved it this was one of my fav DBZ games and the Kinect version was a bit trying it made me sore but it was really fun
Maybe it’s just me, but the characters’ fighting movements seem zesty
Can you do infinite world next!!!
I'm doing the Tenkaichi games, and then I'm doing that one!
Sagas wasn’t even that bad and I guarantee if they gave it another shot it would actually be better than a lot of new gen dbz games
I absolutely fucking love this game idgaf what anyone says lmaoo it will always be my jam😂❤
I feel like this game got alot of hate because it was Misunderstood.
I think this was supposed to be a take on 3D platforming...in a way. Not meant to rival or challenge the Budokai series or be be considered 1 of the flagship gaming IP's for Dragon Ball.
What I can't defend the devs on though, is the implentation of the idea of a 3D platformer. A few years later, the release of Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo showcased how to bring that idea for a DB game to life.
But yeah, it is what is. Unfortunately Sagas was a mistake to learn from, So I guess that's the Silver lining of its legacy. I'm sure it was moderately entertaining for some players if they had nothing better to play and had to settle on the bare minimum and overlook alot of bugs and glitches and jank in this game.
If you love the game is a good game
There is... something wrong with you. I mean, as a DBZ nut, I played every game I could and I enjoyed it in its own way, Sagas included. But your taste in games frightens and confuses me.
Me too.
Ce jeu est terriblement à chier 😅😂
This game is so ASS it’s actually incredible 😂
