It's always wonderful when TH-cam suggests a channel that I actually like only to be shocked that there's fewer than 50k subs. I genuinely expected to see 100k+ when I checked after watching the video. My sub has been earned, friend.
I'd agree with you if it weren't for the hyper mode or whatever the hell it's called, it interrupts the flow of battle so much with the same animations over and over again for a coin flip. It's super frustrating
Honestly it might still be the best dragon Ball video game. It has arguably more content than fighter z does which is saying a lot since it all fit on a PS2 disc 150 years ago
If you wish to know what would have happened if they gave them more development time, try Infinite World. New characters such as Janemba, Super 17 and Baby. Story mode is just one comprehensive run throughout the sagas, including minigames to not make it a stale experience, and actually decent looking cutscenes. You unlock more content as you progress, so you can go back and get new content in the form of battles and minigames. You lose beam struggles but you get improved dash mechanics and more ultimates. Oh, and no Dragon Rush.
I remember having and playing this one.. a lot of this brought back memories, especially how the characters flipped through the air before descending down to the ground from the overworld when flying. I remember the beam struggles and some of that... It's just been so long I struggle to remember much else, but this does trigger memories.
I really liked the US box art because it helped me draw a fist 🤣 Also, I'm not sure if Dragon Rush was a bad mechanic in general, I think it just needed to be harder to pull off. Like, a combination of getting your energy all the way to the max, getting into hyper mode, and locking in a successful throw or something and THEN Dragon Rush. The computer just realized that you can do it anytime in hyper mode and concluded that as the ultimate strat 🤣
I got this game when i moved out and was blown away by just how much there was to do. One of the best times was when i was playing against my roomate who looked like Nappa but he would always say no even if i selected Raditz or Hercule. One day he agreed and it was hilarious.
Great narration! Your cadence is easy on the ears 👍 I had so much fun with this game growing up! A go-to game to grab when visiting a friend's house. I played through Budokai 1 and 3 recently and the extreme jump in combo potential is shocking. There was so much you could lab in Budokai 3 compared to what felt like nothing to explore with the shallow combat mechanics of Budokai 1. Will you make a similar video on Infinite World?
This game is the sole reason I was a dragon ball fan I could never catch Z on TV and my dad had the dragon ball manga and I think 2 movies Ironically it wasn't until kakarot came out that I thought to watch the original anime and my God was I mind blown so much deeper than I gave it credit for
Krillin and Yamcha actually have two of my favorite alternate ends you can get in DU. Krillin beats up Cell a bit and gets 18 out himself at the Cell Games and Yamcha if you look for it challenges Vegeta instead of Tien at the end of his and manages to squeak it out.
Love to see you do infinite world after this since it’s considered the 4th game. I really liked all the mini games in it especially shooting piccolo with freezia’s crazy fingers attack.
I played this game non stop. I loved the series so much besides the story mode of 2.i really didn't like the game and didn't understand it well so I only rented it once.
My favorite dbz game of all time. Spent hundreds of hours after high school getting stoned and playing both the original and hd collection with my best friend Eric. Z3 mode became our easy mode after a certain point and the only AI that could ever win more than 1 out of 1000 times was that sons of a bitch Gotenks at the world tournament. Man, good times. Except for dragon rush. Fuck all the time i spent in dragon rush.
So I actually have both versions on the ps2 and the remastered one on the ps3 although I pretty much only play the ps2 version solely for the music. Your experience with the dragon rush I'd say is very different than mine. I personally don't have an issue with it and I do play the game on the hardest difficulty but I've never had the feeling the ai uses it obsessively. It could just be my experience you know. Still it is a heck of a lot better than some of the more recent DragonBall releases for sure.
How come you didn't talk about custom skills. Like the other negative is how transformation work. To use ssj 1, you use kaioken, to use ssj 2, you need ssj 1, ect. I dont use the unlocke potential anymore for goku, i use kaioken and ssj 1 plus attack and defense boost and i put out more damage than ssj4
While I dont think the Guessing Game Ruined my enjoyment that's much I also never played on higher difficulties That said It was a bad idea and I'm glad they got rid of it in future games
To me all three box arts look like they could be fan made or bootlegs. Like the intention of making a cool, interesting cover is still there it's just not quite right
I agree dragon rush locking out special attacks is bs, but i hate that HYPER mode also locks the other 50% of your finishing moves. You cant really suprise your opponent with a special because they know its coming. Bardock ia the man. Krillin is the strongest human.
God damn Hyper mode just fills me with existential terror and the urge to fly backwards as fast as possible while praying I avoid another dragon rush. Ill carry that trauma till the end of my life.
Why did you stretch out all these 4:3 aspect ratio games into ugly stretched 16:9??? I needed to get myself a browser addon now so I could resize the video to 4:3 and now everything looks perfect and not stretched. 🙄

Welcome aboard! More DBZ games coming soon here..
@@evprince looking forward to your future output!
I actually still have this one on PS2 and it was the best DBZ game they ever made.
Tenkaichi 2
@@DiegoRamirez-lc6xpwhy is tenkaichi 2 better than 3?
It isn't he was just snorting drywall dust @@void489

The Infinite Battle one was pretty good too, but Tenkaichi 3 has a better fighting system imo
Budokai 2 US box art with Vegito in the middle is the best in my opinion
Best DBZ Game, Lot of nostalgia in this game. Great Video!

I loved this game. Best DBZ game ever. My buddy was like "how do you have a level 99 Hercule but only level 76 Vegeta?
I was 5 years old when I first played this on my brothers ps2 and 20 years later I’m watching this in anticipation for the new game!
Always happy to see more people talking about this beautiful game.
This was the only game that i didn't skip over the intro soundtrack

I'm making my way there haha
I remember renting this from Family Video the weekend after it came out. I played this SO much for such a long time.

I am planning to after tenkaichi 2 and 3
I love how the hp/ki bars are giant scouters.
Super creative ui 🎉

My best ever ❤

Will you do DBZ Infinite World next, which fundamentally is Budokai 4?
Yes! I'm working my way to it.
Great video/trilogy of videos, are you going to cover infinite world as well?
Also the ps2 was apart of the 6th generation of consoles not the 5th
I am!

Good review tho.

Can we play in cell phone
There are not many reasons why GT gets the hate it does. Just internet sheep mostly to be completely honest.
