The Chinese data would be saying that these Chinese cars are rubbish. That is why their EV sales will collapse. Tesla will go onto greater heights, especially when the Model 2 is released globally.
I think when it comes to Europe all we really need is maybe still a bit more range (to cover winters for certain % of people) and lower prices, supercharging is already at pretty insane levels with newest chargers. But I would be a happy man if 300 miles were standard range and we had price parity with ICE in all segments at least. Of course other unknown is batteries but there are taxi Teslas who have done 200k miles with little degradation, there are also of course lemons, time will tell... but also battery changes will go down in price. And I am mostly thinking about people who will buy EVs second hand, as first you have 8 year or hefty nr of mile warranty. In Europe most people do not go that long distances and usually they also do not buy cars to cover every possible necessity in life. In USA it will be harder, maybe not as many people cover long distances too but there are some more extreme driving and people tend to buy a lot of trucks just to cover all the possible needs they might have with a car, towing and hauling etc. So it will not go as easy, the transition, in USA. Also supercharger situation in EU seems way better, there are EU mandates now to have supercharging available after certain nr of km and seems like lot more players, and also with home charging sems like local governments are more willing to install street side chargers and such, for those who do not have their own house and garage
U.S. has over 2300 superchargers, Asia over 2400, EU presently last with a bit over 1100. Cities now have a lot of charging options, often at work in the US. We are not behind.
@@GardeningZ Not really. Tesla has more elasticity than any other car manufacturer on price, EV or ICE. They are culling market share for forcing others out - when there is clear demand. Look, like it or not, these guys at Tesla know their shit. If you think of it, I assure they did years ago.
A lot of Europe is poor, also I doubt all the chargers are counted. I doubt in markets where it matters per mile or km Europe is losing to USA, otherwise we would see crying about charging here the same as in USA. Maybe in numbers there are less chargers (or just superchargers) but Europeans also drive smaller distances. Also in Europe I think there are much more other company superchargers than Tesla, maybe you just compare Tesla supercharger numbers?

People who would not deal with phantom braking prefer cars without brakes at all. Toyota, Ford, and GM have had thousands of cars with brake failures. How many brake failures has Tesla had? Zero to date. How many accidents from phantom braking? Less than a dozen?
@@juliahello6673 Just not true. I had a VW Golf for 4 years which I drove every day, which had proper radar adaptive cruise control, never a single issue in 4 years.

It will ramp up after Chinese new year for sure!

MUCH MORE HIGHER RISK FOR OVER FAST DC CHARGING BURNING
Sam. Would you take a look at the total ev revenue and total ev profit for the two companies for last quarter and last year? I'm betting Tesla is way ahead on those accounts. $ is more important than count.
The only problem is that Tesla is burning cash like crazy. They have bills and expenses that are greater than incomes.
@@HarrythehunReally? Have you looked at their 4 q earnings?
Tesla is not burning cash like crazy. They’ve got $30 billion in free cash flow.😅
@@Harrythehunyour funny. Their cash holdings grew from $26 billion to $29 billion according to the Q4 2023 Earnings Report. Stop making stuff up
Thank you. Great work recently. Impressive research & reporting!

The quantity of cars sold does not make the leader it is the sales and profit dollars that matter and Tesla's average sale price is double the average of BYD.
@reginald7214 , oh, Reggie, Reggie Reggie... The profitability figures are a matter of record you silly boy!!!
The quantity does matter if you care about climate change. I could care less about the profits of these companies, but I care a lot about how fast we are are moving to net zero and saving humanity from civilizational collapse. That seems a lot more important to me than people getting bits of paper to which we have assigned some arbitrary value.
@@amosbatto3051so you think the infamous wholong mini replacing bicycle riders will help the environment?
@@jjamespacbell, China is not going back to bike riding, but I do think that electric scooters like Yadea using the Gogoro Energy Network could be become a major hit in China, just like in Taiwan. The best we can hope for is more use of ebikes / escooters and public transport with electric buses.
Does anyone still believe Elon claiming Tesla will sell 20 million vehicles in 2030. ?
Maybe he was half right ?
Elon Musk stated 20 million EVs sold in 2030 as an ambitious goal for Tesla, not a guaranteed prediction.
Next we will hear it was a promised 20 million. It is how haters play telephone.
You should address all the significant impediments to even close to 35% adoption in the USA. EV price and range do not matter. We couldn't do 40% EV adoption in the USA right now.
Newsflash. We won't. Now back to the drawing board fudster
where there is a will there is a way , so that makes you a whiner and a sniveling grumbler, you like sucking on tailpipes
The Chinese data would be saying that these Chinese cars are rubbish. That is why their EV sales will collapse. Tesla will go onto greater heights, especially when the Model 2 is released globally.
Tesla is a Chinese car
Lower price tag will be a double edged sword.

They all want to win
If BYD would change their people in the desing compartment they would sell more.
If they could sell in North America they would sell more BEV.
Stop whining about it. BYD sold more EV's than Tesla, SO WHAT.
And Tesla had less sales in December and January than it would have if everyone wasn’t waiting for the new Model 3 refresh.
Your the one whining.
But that was just in 1 quarter, so means nothing (either). And byd growth is slowing down, so...
(But btw.: how many sold bmw 😢)
Well, everyone been saying BYD numbers is all phev. So nobody prepared when they took lead. What happens when you are in an echo chamber. Unless the model 2 can compete, Tesla doesn’t have a chance against BYD. And that’s just 1 car model.
For less profits….
BYD NEVER HAD THE TITLE because they were counting hybrids
That's not true. BYD surpassed Tesla in Q4 in purely EV sales. However, if we consider hybrids and pure EVs , then BYD surpassed Tesla at the begining of 2023.
Sorry, but you are wrong. BYD sold more BEVs worldwide than Tesla in Q4 2023.
@@axelaaronccasanihuachua9073 The goal is to move the world away from ICE. If BYD is doing a good job all the more power to them. The last thing we want to do is suppress a company making compelling BEVs.

Considering Tesla doesn’t yet sell and mass market affordable EV yet has the most popular car in the world is pretty crazy. Wonder what will happen when Tesla starts selling a sub $30k EV 😏
Thinkingit will have to be sub $25K to matter.
@@walden6272 Tesla have, under Musk, have always wanted to sell to the mass market, not just the wealthy. Secondly Hyundai and kia Evs are not cheap either, they are pushing towards 50 grand or more. As for people with money, they are well catered for already with expensive vehicles, demanding ownership of the Tesla brand name entirely is not conducive with Tesla's goals.
@umbrellastudio7481 First thing is a BYD arguably has government backing. That is a rigged game. Second by the time BYD pays a dealer, service network and everything that goes with shipping and tarrifs etc. It is not a $10K car. Last I checked the only Chinese car company that was really making it in Europe was the MG brand. The parent car company of MG is more or less, mostly more, the Chinese government. So if you want to point at a Chinese car company with real potential MG is there for you.
@umbrellastudio7481
China can build cars in North America first under USMCA trade zones a car built in Canada, US, or Mexico can move between borders w/o taxes. Unlike China nobody is insisting in 1/2 local much less government ownership. BYD, MG and Chery are building factories in Mexico.
@umbrellastudio7481 yeah and you get what you pay for with that cheap car and it’s probably a hybrid and not full electric.

It'll take the Chinese ppl some time before they trust and value Chinese brands as much as they do TESLA.

@@davidbrayshaw3529 Watched that. Something is ratting in their cab. They need to get it back to the service center about the motor whine. That is abnormal and seen in other CT's. Could be a software fix. Does a halfway decent jobs on slicing carrots. I have mixed feelings. IMHO the answer is to remove the power frunk. I have doubts about the crush sensor durability and cold weather. Do not know enough about them really. Would be bummed if I could not drive my truck because the frunk would not close.
@@danharold3087 I've got to say, it all didn't add up to being an $80 k vehicle, for my money.
I thought that the motor whine was gearbox whine, but without being there with a stethoscope or a long length of hose and a dyno, who knows.
Yeah, the frunk sensors and the finish of the edges of the doors, what were they thinking.
But overall, it just looked thrown together
a little to haphazardly for me. Panel fit, the upholstery on the dashboard, the wrinkles... yeah, nah. And the road noise in a vehicle of that price. Sound deadener isn't that expensive and it isn't that difficult to apply. A Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic are far better finished and probably quieter.
And this was a press vehicle!
And what's this having to tend to bug splatter and bird poop to preserve the stainless steel?
In all honesty, I was disappointed when the CT was released that it failed to meet the criteria put before us 5 years ago.

I want to see what this truck looks like in 2 or 3 years because this is a starting point. It is a cast internal 3D frame that most everything bolts too. That is very interesting. Tickles my engineering bones.
