  • Newly re-uploaded and now named "Make It With Momo", in this video, I show you how to sew a satin ribbon choker for Sailor Moon cosplays, but this can also be used for comic book characters, Disney princesses, any other cosplay, or even as just a cute fashion DIY! I recommend using medium weight fabrics such as a cotton broadcloth, poplin, satin, medium weight knit, etc. You can adjust the choker to be thinner or wider also. While I do include this pattern in my Magical Girl Accessories Pattern Pack (Pattern 1330) it is simple enough to figure out by just using a ruler and measuring tape!
It is highly recomended that for non-stretch fabrics, you cut on the bias (the 45 degree angle of the fabric's length and width), but it isn't always necessary. Some patterns might prevent you from angling the fabric grain in any direction, and that's okay, this will still work! If you plan to use a stretchy fabric, I recommend the DOGS, or "Direction Of Greatest Stretch", to run parallel with the length of your choker, such that it comfortably flexes around your neck.

This is a great tutorial! I thought it would be as simple as cutting a long strip of fabric without sewing, but this makes more sense. I used to do the lighter trick to finish off the ends of point shoe ribbons when I sewed them on

I get them from various places, but some examples of stores include Joann Fabric, Michael's (they sell fabric online only), Blue Moon Fabrics, SAS Fabric, Spandex House, Spandex World, Fishman's Fabrics, and various other online shops as well as shops in the LA Fashion District, whenever I get a chance to visit Los Angeles. ^_^

I shall! I will be working on the hip roll and sleeve roll tutorials this month. I had intended to put them out last month, but work got a little wild, so I had to delay them a bit! Looking forward to getting those uploaded soon, as well as updating and reuploading the other tutorials. 😁
