If you enjoyed this video. Here's another video of me servicing my brother chunky machine. It's a little longer and may help you with some points.👉th-cam.com/video/I_lH3acBBgk/w-d-xo.html👈
Very informative, easy to follow and will make a big difference to my knitting I’m sure. I’ve just unpacked my mother’s Silver Reed 840 and Knitmaster SRP60N robber. I’ve knitted two jumpers and a pair of socks so far. Not brave enough to plug it in yet.
I really love watching your videos. You’re knowledgable , easy to follow but most of all you’re fun. You always chuckle , especially when you make a mistake , it’s never the end of the world more an oh well moment. Thank you for making it fun to learn to machine knit 🧶 😊
Hello Scarlet thanks for this video I have the same machine Knitmaster Mod700 which I originally purchased in 1978. I have been using it over the years without any problems. It has served me well. Yesterday I noticed that on the carriage underneath one of the grey rubber discs has cracked in half completely and the other also has a crack from centre to the edge. They clearly need to be replaced. These are the first discs either side of the yarn feeders underneath. Can you recommend where I can get replacement 3.5mm rubber discs with stipples in the Uk. I have looked on the internet but the search takes me to EBay. Are those on eBay adequate for this machine would prefer your recommendation. I look forward to hearing from you. I am happy to send you photos of the parts if this helps. Regards Esthet
Hello scarlet i've recently acquired this model and have noticed on mine that the 'release jam' (red lever) on my carriage doesn't move at all. Also the row counter dials don't move at all when I try to turn them to change the numbers. I've been looking at the manuals online but as I am a complete beginner with this sort of equipment I've been struggling to understand it. If you have any advice or tips on how I could tackle these issues I've come across so far that would be much appreciated :)
Hi there. Great machine to own. Basically. 30 plus years of old grease has welded stuck together everything. It's easy to pull apart. Strip down and getting everything working. If the carriage is stuck a bit of spray oil and gentle movement will get it moving. But not for work. To get it on working condition follow my service videos step by step and you'll have a lovely machine. Here to help of you need me x
Your welcome. I do hope it helped. I'll be shooting more knitting machine videos in the up coming winter months. Just the gardens and self sufficient life has to come first at the moment.
hey! I have just got one of these and followed your video - it was super helpful thank you! It's my first knitting machine and I have no clue what I'm doing. The condition of the machine is fine apart from the two circular grey pieces have chunks out of them (shown in your video at 11:29 ). I was wondering whether this is an issue - and if so what are they called to get them replaced? Thanks :o)
I'm glad you found the video helpful. I'm going away for a while to help my mom. But when I'm back I'll be posting more on knitting machines. I have already four up that might help you though.
@@scarletpeate it came from a old familys friends mother and the boxes that came with it full of beautiful beads and ribbons, wools and trimmings.. A crafters dream .. 💕
I know it’s two years gone, but I hope you’re not using wd40 on the machines anymore… it’s not great for the metal and WILL degrade the plastic parts of machines…

Thankyou so much! This is a new project for me so I'm excited to crack in, I'll let you know if I need anymore tips :))
Do you ever fully disassemble the carriage and thoroughly clean all the internal sections?
Yes to some degree yes.
Thank you

If you need to replace them they are sold on eBay. If there's Chunk's out it would be a good idea. .. also check the brush condition too whilst there
