Love your channel. These are some of the most open and honest reviews I have found.

Great review, I prefer the longer detailed video's like yours. I personally like to research as much as possible and hear numerous opinions on a knife before I spend my money. I appreciate your opinion because it's based on actual usage and experience with the product you're reviewing. I personally haven't focused much attention on the Sage 5 line but have heard good things. If I needed a knife in this size range I would definitely consider it. Thanks for sharing my friend.

I’m glad you like these style of videos because I personally enjoy making them. Whenever I do shorter videos, I feel like I’m missing out important details, things that might not mean much to some people, but might be a make or break decision for others. Thanks for watching and your support👊🔥

I love when people make a review claiming how great, or awful a knife is, but it's still on the factory edge and doesn't have a single mark on the knife.
The sad truth is that most TH-cam knife reviews are usually only good for finding our how well a knife flips, and how nice it looks in a case next to other knives just waiting to be listed as "9.7/10, NEVER CUT ANYTHING" for 95-110% of its price when new.
The reason I like this channel so much is because he tests $40 knives and $400 knives equally. I really don't see the reason to buy high end knives (or any tool) and not use them. It's during actual use that you get to experience what separates high, medium and low quality.

Thanks for the kind words. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people will talk about the best “overbuilt” knives, but all they talk about is the fidget factor and if it is big and heavy. One of my favorite channels out there is Outpost 76 (you’ve probably already seen him) I like how he really cares about steel and heat treat, but he still appreciates steels like S30V and VG10. He’s not one of those people who will trash a knife for having a perfectly fine steel like 154CM or S35VN. Thanks for watching👍

Yes, this is my favorite EDC. Why? I love Spydercos, the compression lock is unbeatable, it's my favorite blade shape (feels more sturdy than my para light weight), easy to sharpen, FRN is very grippy & I prefer having the stainless liners over not - as with the para lightweight. It's a durable useful tool

You have great videos. It's obvious you actually know and love knives and know how to use them.

Thanks for sharing my Friend! The most Knife Friends don't use the Knives! They make a Review and complain about the ergonomics or other stuff, without using them really! Anyway, everybody needs to know what they are doing. Greetings from Austria and thanks for showing again.

Thanks for watching! I have noticed that sometimes a knife with feel “so-so” in hand when just griping it lightly, but it use it doesn’t feel that bad. I have also noticed the other way around, where the knife feels fine and then in use it’s really uncomfortable.

"Knife friends", that's got to be the most adorable shit I've heard.

Nice tip on the pocket clip! I dont like my wire pocket clip either, and feel like it is going to come loose one day!

I don't usually like "small" knives, but I want this one.

I’ve carried it as my exclusive EDC since April 2020. Get it you won’t be sorry 👍

Great review. I can verify the factory edge issue. But I’ve actually had the same issue with S30V from their Golden facility on a PM2. No big deal I just used the Sharpmaker and after one good run I’ve never had the steel chip again.
I got my Sage 5 LW in April and it’s been in my pocket every day since day 1. It’s a superb EDC companion.

It has become one of my go-to EDC’s, it is nice to carry in sweatpants and lighter clothes so I’ve been really enjoying it. I hope Spyderco will address the issue of fatigued steel from the factory, but I doubt it. Thanks for watching

@@itsaknifestyle8482 Yeah I’ve become a fan of the leaf blade style from my first Spyderco (Tenacious) and the Dragonfly which I’ve carried in many forms. The Sage and the Chaparral are really great urban edc blades.

Ten month update: This knife is still my exclusive EDC. I put a new edge on it with the Sharpmaker in January and it actually is a better edge now. This is a great choice for urban carry.

If this is a lightweight, where do I find a regular weight knife? I don’t see them anywhere!

I have a Sage 5 lw and a Manix 2 lw. I like the Golden frcp and the Tai frn equally. I agree in that I don't feel that either looks or feels cheap. It doesn't look as nice as the carbon fiber on my Kapara obviously but that cost quite a bit more. Nice video btw.

I like the FRN for the reason I use my knife everyday. It’s easy to clean up just soap and water, air dry and you’re good to go.

I actually like FRN better than G10 , my only complaint with my Sage 5 is the compression lock is very stiff to disengage
