There's actually a script in this mission that makes it so attacking the civilians lures the Mammoth tanks away from the base entrance. So apparently the mission was meant to be played by destroying the guard towers at the front and then rushing your MCV outside. It's actually really funny how much easier it is to just take the whole thing over from the inside.
GDI: "Sir! Out base has been infiltrated, we must take them out before they do more damage!" -"Don't be silly Pvt. Karl, we have adequate base defenses and tanks guarding the perimeter..." -"But sir, they are already taking out our power supply and guard towers!" -"What did I tell you Pvt... We have Mammoth tanks that will easily wipe anything out." -"Sir, our base defenses our down, we have lost all our buildings and vehicles guarding the base. The enemy has established a solid economy, built a formidable army and obelisks of light..." -"Damnit Karl! Send in all we have! Make sure it's one by one so they truly feel the terror of GDI!"
Fun fact, if you take control of the prison, you get 2 attack helicopters. No idea what you're supposed to do with them, without a helipad they run out of ammo in 5 seconds and if you have the enemy construction yard you can just make them yourself.
"GDI has intercepted and captured one of our MCVs. We were counting on that vehicle to establish a foothold in the area. Recover the MCV and remove any trace that GDI had even been there." I know this is for the game's purpose, but I can't stop thinking why the GDI is stupid enough not to destroy the NOD's MCV. LOL.
Stealth tank has enough range to knock out those turrets, that avoids having to build at least one defense cannon. I followed this guide but I managed it without selling the GDI Construction Yard. Excellent guide, nonetheless. Cheers!
Well played ! I didn't kow that you can destroy the towers at a safe distance with the stealth tank, thx for the info. I'm glad that you enjoyed the guide !
Yea, you can take out the top left guard tower from below the top left power plant, and then position your tank above the wall to take out the other one. In fact you can do that before dealing with the Advanced Guard Tower in the center. It makes it easier for your Engineers later. And attacking a GDI power plant or silo once and then stopping is a great way to lure enemy units to your turret one by one. In fact I'm surprised that destroying that advanced power plant didn't make any of them come to you here... maybe something was changed in the AI since this recording.
V2 (base outside) : If you rescue MCV without destroying towers, and put an invisible tank in the place of future Tiberium factory, then enemies will not build it and will be left without resources.
Just take a look how it was solved by others. I drove sandbags out from the GDI perimeter and built an external base outside. Was much easier, aint faster tho.
Well... That's a hell of a lot easier than the original. I literally just got done playing this mission in the original and there were multiple waves of engineers that tried to take over my buildings, the missile turrets actually fired at me as opposed to just sat there and let you destroy them, and whenever you built or took over a new building different units that were spread out across the map came to attack you. Maybe I shouldn't be such a cheap bastard and get the remastered version. It saved me a lot of time and heartache period LOL
Missile turrets were out of power so didn't fire. There are multiple waves of engineers. If you attack any base structure other than defences, all GDI units will attack you. It's the same as the original, just updated graphics.

It takes forever to destroy the guard towers with only 1 stealth tank :P. Swarming the ennemy with engineers from the inside is always a good tactic.
@@THEZOD Well, do remember, these missions were never designed with a Hard Mode in mind.
@@Nyerguds True, I higly doubt that the developpers had a ''Hard Mode'' in mind to be released 24 years later :P

Useless indeed, there is no point of capturing the prison early on.
It's a Tech Center. It was always supposed to be a Tech Center 😛

@@THEZOD I meant the basic machine gun defense turret thing. Not the advanced defence turrets. Thanks for sharing.

Thx for the tip !
Hah, that's some serious cheese.
Got so annoyed doing this one myself, just cheesed and built sandbag line leading to the tiberium field on the bottom of the map and set up camp

I know the sandbagging trick is good for all missions but I try to avoid it as much as possible :P
