Wow this whole time. I sent my flame tanks blazing through the guard towers and always lost all my troops to the first medium tank. This is the last convert mission i'm trying to beat.(I never played any of the covert missions before) Appreciate the walkthrough.
I feel like the Chem troops would be best against the med tanks. Their Chem blast seemed to be very effective against armored units, so while Flame tanks kite and roast the infantry and light scouts, the Chem troops deal with armor. Being infantry themselves, they're good against cannon, weak to anti-infantry, as well.
Well, a bit of an addendum to this after doing the mission. Chem troops didn't do much damage to the med tanks, did more damage to themselves, and got crushed easy cause they always low-crawled. However, for some reason, the med tanks did not change targets even though the AI normally switches target to whoever attacks it if the original target didn't attack, so I was able to use the fact that they're sturdy infantry to attract the attention of the tanks, then moved in with flame tanks to take them out. Of course, the flame tanks take friendly damage unless you line them up just right, but they took a lot less damage than just taking cannon shots direct. Just need to know where the med tanks are to push a chem troop up and draw the fire.
Interesting mission. To me the biggest problems were: destroying the medium tanks on the way and entering the base in the end, since I only got three heavily damaged flame tanks left when I did that. It was kinda hard to predict if my firepower after each small fight is still strong enough to finish the mission. For me, it just about worked. Nevertheless, I had fun playing the mission. :)

The last cutscene is pretty dark: The dead are being desecrated and are being used as nutrients/fuel for tiberium's growth.

Yeah, I was playing this on the PS1 version today and the medium tasks are a real issue. I'm sure that version of the game is somewhat harder.
You can lure one infantry man and make the tank fire at him, thenbring the flame tanks
