    Such a cutie! Just a suggestion: when he did not step up (at 7.22) you rewarded him straight away with a treat. So you are actually confusing him and make him not stepping up, by rewarding for not doing it. I know that sometimes it's hard to realize these little things. I had an eclectus myself and it took me a while to understand to be very consistent with training. They are such sensible and smart animals that even the slightest mistake will cost weeks of redoing. Good luck!

My scarlet macaw is coming very soon as my comforter from severe grief and sadness I'm fighting during quarantine isolation lockdown started last summer of February, 2020 was such a hard and darkest time to us all

    I loved my male Eclectus for 28 years. Calm, talkative, just wants to hang out, needs time to consider anything new. Please learn how to hold your bird, that finger rocking hold you're doing is very unstable for jinky. Also move slower with offering pine nut and hold it still. Thrusting it at him and then quickly withdrawing is confusing him. Slow and steady with Eclectus is best! He'll be a wonderful companion for you. Glad you are doing research for what's best for him. Have fun!

      He can sometimes be loud 💚
      Often when people come over, he will start to scream but not when we are home with him.
      I now put him in another room and that makes him more comfortable.
      Also when he sees birds flying outside, he get super excited 😊

    What an absolutely beautiful bird. Yes there are so many things you’re not supposed to do with birds. No petting him on the back or under the wings things like that. But if you want to get some great advice there is a TH-cam channel called Bird Tricks and they have tons of videos. I don’t have a bird and I’ve watched so many of their videos I feel like I could get a bird. Only I’m not set up for a bird and would never get a bird unless I had the ability to care for it properly, spend tons of time with it and it was in need of a home.

    My eclectus girl prefers women 😆 but I 100% aggree if you do mot have experience, male is a safer choise.
    I chose a female because I like them being a little bit more independent and I like the sassy nature and the challenge it gives.
    Males tend to emjoy flying more tham females and are a bit more active.
    What I like about males in their much more active behavior but females take the cake for being absolute chill queens.
    Males are more prone being scared of new things, females are much braver.
    So they both are absolutely amazing it's more what suits you and a beginner CAN take a female too if these personality traits are what you are looking for.
    All parrots all the way from tiny budgies need huge amount of research anyway.
    I'm happy you did your research, ypu were realistic what kind of bird you can acommodate and did not just go with looks eventho girls are one of the most beautiful parrots in the world.
    That electric green is AMAZING too!

      @madebynicolezan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your beautiful comment 💚
      I love females so much ❤ I’m always thinking about getting one for Jinky but I’m not sure he would like a girlfriend. I feel like he loves being an only bird. Aha
      Lots of thinking to do.

    • @jasminahaverinen5759
      @jasminahaverinen5759 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@madebynicolezan mixing male and female is 50/50 game really. Often they can fight... or not.
      So you can def get a female but they might not be able housed in a same cage unless you have a big aviary.
      They would become best friends too tho.
      What I suggest as someone who lives in a country where hand raising has been studied quite a lot, I would 100% recommend to NOT get hand reared one.
      Seems like your male already is.
      So you would defenitely raise the possibilities of them pairing up if you bring in a female raised by yheir parents.
      Females are quite dominant in ekkies so it is useful to have one that kinda "knows how to bird".
      And don't worry at all about taming.
      When you take them young this species tends to tame down very quickly.
      Sure they are not already ready to be handled like hand reared ones but are much more steady in the long run and less prone to issues like figting or plucking.
      I have tamed quite a few parrots of differend species that are not handraised it's not difficult 😁 not in this species especially!

So sad I miss him so much and cry alot as he was all I had. He was naughty but a delight.. if you need any info about health stiff or anything else glad to help. Gary

      I’ll raise my voice and use specific words. Like “no bite” and with a firm voice. I found that to be most successful.
      The previous owner said to put him in the cage if he did something wrong. Like a “timeout” but I don’t know if that the best option. So I don’t do that.

      Covering reflective surfaces is very important when letting a bird out of their cage. Also if there's a particular window or mirror your concerned about, you can use some sort of sheer curtain and it can help to let the bird explore the surface so they get used to it being there. Birds running into reflective surfaces like windows is definitely a valid concern, concussions in birds are often fatal.

    But if you grew up with that same bird, then the next one wouldn’t be your first bird, it would be your second bird, so I don’t see what the issue is
