I am most fascinated to Li Shu Wen. He is one of the greatest martial artist master. One testimony for how great Li Shu Wen is come from the fact that three of his student become the bodyguard of three most influential person in China at that time, the last emperor Puyi, the nationalist Chiang Kai-shek, and the communist Mao Zedong.
Sun also went to the Song family courtyard in Shansi to further his skill in xingyiquan. He changed his santishi after that. This can be seen in one of your photos where sun shows the yin version. The yang version has the hands in a straight line.
My grandmother was a practitioner of Choy Li Fut. it really is cool, there’s a simple exercise called 格三式 that teaches you how to defend yourself from a low, mid and high position, it’s easy to pick up and see good effectiveness
Thank you for the video I've been practicing Choy Li Fut kung fu under the Doc Fai Wong schools and have been enjoying my time glad to see our founder was detailed in the video

I wish you would do a video on my old style of Pak Hok (White Crane) which came from Tibet. This style was used by Norther Tibetan monks to defend the Emperor.
Great channel by the way. You may not be so skilled, but you have created something that has added a great contribution. There are many skilled martial artists but you are one of the few doing this which is extremely needed.
Love your Martial Arts vids!!! You seem to have some inside knowledge in this area. I’d love to see your take on how the Family Styles went to crap. For instance, Dong Ying Jie and Tung Hu Ling had real skills but the current lineage heads who I studied with like Tung Kai Ying and Alex Dong had just the superficial Taiji and zero Push Hands skills. How did we lose the Nei Gong even in the lineages??? 😢
Wonderful and well structured. As a fan of Kung Fu and Eastern martial arts , I appreciate your well structured and highly informative video. Wel done, Paul,68 P.s. A Chinese master speaking of internal styles said the following: Wing Tchun is the tip of a lance, Pa-qua the cetral portion of it and Tai chi Chuan the end of a Lance.

Wing Chun was known to be founded by Ng Mui a Buddhist Nun. She met a young woman Yip Wing Chun & taught her a "Nameless Form" which had to be Siu Nam Tao. Judging by what I learned I believed other forms were formed by Future Genarations of the art. Leung Bok Chau.was taught by his wife ,Yip Wing Chun & he's The 1 who gave Wing Chun its name. The couples taught their nephews & they went on teaching future Contributioners the art. Even today, Wing Chun is still Evolving by The Masters of today because of its simplicity 👌.

This is very interesting. as a blind guy, Wing Chun kung fu seems to be among the possible things that I can practice due to the sticky hand tactic. I rely on a similar tactic when practicing judo since feeling the opponents movements without relying on sight is exactly what I need.
You have only presented a story Yim Wing-Chun, but have not presented a story of Wu Mei, her teacher (who is a Shaolin nun grandmaster). I hope you will also present a story of Wu Mei in the future.

Small correction. Fist of the white lotus was not about Bak Mei ( white eyebrow but his kung fu brother Bái liánhuā( white Lotus). You know that because in the beginning of the movie it shows bqi Mei being killed by the tiger get and crane technique and then later when hung hsi kuan son hung wen ting tried to get his revenge white lotus told his combined technique of tiger crane wouldn’t beat him like it did bai mei
Bei Mei, in the movies (or mythology), was not an escapee from the burning temple. He was one of the guys who wanted to destroy the shaolin temple to please the imperial palace. 😂
Can't put all into one video Furthermore FongSaiYuk although famous could have causes a lot of trouble when he was young 😂 he wasn't the quiet one for sure😅
As a Wing Chun practitioner of the Pan Nam lineage, I would like to set the record straight. The legend of Ng Mui being the founder of Wing Chun is nothing more than a myth. The true origin of Wing Chun can be traced back to the ancient art called 白鶴拳 White Crane Fist en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fujian_White_Crane. White Crane originated in Yongchun County, Fujian. Yongchun is the Chinese Mandarin pronunciation of Wing Chun. When White Crane Fist was introduced to the Cantonese in Foshan (most likely on boats), it was known as Wing Chun Bok Hok Kuen (White Crane Fist of Wing Chun or Yongchun) it was later shortened to Wing Chun Kuen.
But even if its from White Crane there is still the question who created Wing Chun. And there is also Weng Chun. And Pao Fa lien Wing Chun which has a lot more fist and weapon forms. Its very difficult.
My dad and my uncles practice bai mei (pronounced pak mei in hakka), they tried to teach me when I was a kid but I thought it was lame, I ended up doing taekwondo instead ….
I have never heard of this version of Bak Mei's backstory where he was one of the surviving monks. He is usually portrayed as one of those hunting these monks down.
hmm.. i thought he really was one of the surviving shaolin monks... in a sense that... : He's a shaolin monk, who betrays shaolin, selling them out to the Qing government... and from then on continued to hunt down other surviving shaolin monks....
Funny how he only mentions that the MMA guy defeated a wing chun person (of questionable skill), but he fails to mention the MMA guy beat tonnes of Tai Chi masters and other stylists. In every Kung Fu style, there are people who have no skill, and some who have great skill. Just because 1 random person loses a fight, it does not mean the style is worthless. Peace.
Anytime a style that is designed for actual fighting steps into a sports area to "prove itself," it's already lost. There is a MAJOR difference between bare knuckle anything goes fighting and stepping into any given ring with gloves. You have to recognize this and be aware of the differences. One of the most eye opening scenes in the IP Man movies was when a kung fu master fought a boxer despite never having seen boxing before. The boxer wins. One of the reasons for the win is the edge the boxer had by being in the ring with his gloves on. This incident reminds me of a boxing champion who challenged my Sensei. My Sensei refused and ducked out of fighting this man for months. The man eventually caught my Sensei and literally put him in a corner and told him he had no choice but to fight. Literally with one blow, my Sensei ended the boxers career right then and there. True story. DO NOT let your ego get the best of you!!!! There was a REASON my Sensei ducked out of fighting this man, and it wasn't out of fear. The moral of the story: Respect sport fighters for what they can do, but realize that there is a WORLD of difference between bare knuckle "anything goes" and what happens in the ring.
She was the one who taught Wing Chun, but I am guessing she knew a lot more and just compiled it into a simple system for Wing Chun to learn, so I would say you could look at it either way. Hard to know who had more say in determining the curriculum, her or Wing Chun.
Sorry. It's bak mei (silent k, and mei with a lower tone) in Cantonese. What you said was western beauty. It's nice that you're including another language, but the tones need improvement
what i wonder was how the hell they actually put this through practical use. Because as well know these days i mean kung fu has been made a fool of in comparison to muay thai and other forms of martial arts
These are ancient history masters where challenges to the death are frequented & war often arises. Therefore, frequent practical practices are required unlike most of the spoiled Shifus nowadays.
just watch old karate videos, they break wood by thrusting the tip of their fingers into it. these days hardly anyone can do it even the most successful karate fighters of today couldnt do it. people used to practice everyday and condition their body to be sturdy and turn their arms and legs to be weapon. some karate masters walk around red light districts to fight everyday so in other words in the old days martial artists put their art to the test. unlike today most masters just learn the form and never really know how to use it. so yeah same thing happened to kungfu and most martial arts in the world
ok bro thats because back in the day they were using break away materials, until people started calling them out for it then they stopped. I dont believe some masters would go around red lights district just to pick fights, not like they're willing to risk it all just to say they're potent.@@Adiarby13
