    The option to lean towards a laid-back sort of lifestyle and not have to work a day in his life, especially as his father is CEO of a multi million pound asset.
    And to have the mentality of " I want to do it myself, with my way, my own money" is very rare, especially in this "instafamous" era.

      THE name of the game (No pun intended), Is to come and present a "STORY" that the public will fall for.
      This dad, knew fine well that making a story up which involved his son would hit home MUCH harder than turning up with a board game that HE had created based around football, and he was correct. He got his son involved.
      He wrapped Mr Jones (Who is a Tennis player) around his little finger.

      I think it's easy to be successful when you come from a successful family. @danielpedersen1688 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mradhurley he’s not wrong tho, not our fault other kids are idiots. I was never rich, never have been but I get by just fine. U don’t need to be rich to do well, far from it. My parents took out loans to pay for my bro n sis tuition fees and paid it all back later after paying instalment every month for a number of years. I went from being a freelance dj (only getting gigs from friends when they needed someone to perform at their event like high school / prom gigs to a few nightclubs only 3-4 times a month for very little money) to now being an apprentice working at one of biggest tech firms and also working as a food courier on the side on the weekends. People should just get off their bum and do something about themselves. Not everything has to be related to crime. Like I say I was never rich, but I don’t do crime either. That’s the difference between common sense and stupidity.

    • @WeArePermaculture
      @WeArePermaculture ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, why don't kids who have parents with no money in the bank and no food in the cupboards starting up businesses and learning to be 'well spoken'? I wonder? After all, there's certainly a solid infrastructure here in the UK for underprivileged children to 'have respect' isn't there? Open your eyes, mate. What a stupid comment.

  • @saintjimmy456
    @saintjimmy456 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    It didn't happen in this clip, but can somebody explain how it works when, for example, a dragon gets 20% equity for £100k, but agrees to drop to 10% when they "get their money back." Doesn't that mean that the entrepeneur buys back 10% for 100k (which is a worse price than they sold it for) AND they leave the dragon with 10% equity that technically cost the dragon nothing? Entrepeneurs always agree to this deal quickly because it sounds reasonable, but is it not a bit of a con?

    • @Meinfuhrerhoffman
      @Meinfuhrerhoffman ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Functionally what you said is correct but it’s not 10% equity for nothing. The dragons remain a shareholder of the company, have an interest in continuing to grow it and maximize profits, and continue to leverage their resources and connections to help propel the company forward. Those are not worthless assets. In fact, for most of these entrepreneurs having the dragons connections is worth a hell of a lot more than the money they’re asking for.

    • @JohnSmith-jn9hu
      @JohnSmith-jn9hu ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In that situation when a dragon agrees to drop their equity when their money is paid back, they’re expecting their money to be paid back from profits generated from the business which a dragon should have contributed massively towards (via contacts, distribution, marketing, etc). In the world of business, investors will want rewards for putting their money and time in a business. That’s generally how it works - and a dragon is worth more than just any average investor. If an entrepreneur feels they don’t need a dragon, they wouldn’t come on the show (although mind you, some do come on just for TV advertising)

      @saintjimmy456 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Meinfuhrerhoffman I appreciate the value the dragon might bring (we never really find out how much time they put in) but It is like the entrepeneur is paying the dragon 100k to make the company succesful, and also giving them 10% of the business. That might be good for a dying company, or a brand new start up. But companies that are on the up, I think that's a bad deal to make.

    • @DavidL1986
      @DavidL1986 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@saintjimmy456 I think its also to ecourage you to make it successful. if you know youre getting a bigger percentage, it will motivate you to work hard. But if they own 20% of the business theyre going to get their money back eventually in dividends anyway?

    If the father is a wealthy businessman then he should cover the costs.
    I just don't get it when that female investor said that "BBC rules mean the son couldn't remain in the room for negotiations."
    Why not ??
    If he's started this then he should be able to listen to the proceedings.
