In our use case, it's worth it. 3rd party servers always lag for us and it's literally unplayable, especially on Bedrock. Realms changed that, and for the price split between us 4, it's really, really worth it.
Aw man, I was just looking for a 3rd party server to buy. I want to use the custom world generation in the RealismCraft addon i bought but it doesn’t work for realms sadly. Do you think if i spent $8 a month for a 3rd party server it would run well? It’s mostly just me and 1 other friend that play.
I don't really know how well mods would work on 3rd party servers, sorry about that! But the service we used before was free, which might explain why it was so laggy. A paid 3rd party server might run better, but dont't take my word for it. As long as you and your friend are both playing Bedrock Edition, cross play between PC, Console, and Mobile are possible! :)
I have indeed seen people use DNS to let one of the featured servers lead to an external server. While it’s amazing that it’s possible, realistically, most casual players will never know of the existence of such a ‘feature’. As it was not intended that way by Mojang
@@KasaiSora I will really appreciate if Microsoft adds the external server list to consoles. It would be really cool. But Microsoft only thinks making money and so I don’t know if they want to add it.
@@NazagamerITA it's not really a Microsoft thing, games with online interactions or community addons on a console have to adhere to rather strict guidelines laid out by Sony, Nintendo and well Microsoft to be actually playable, there is a reason why those featured servers are there on consoles cause of them adhering to those guidelines, you can't really rate external servers in the same way
@KasaiSora I got a realm because convincing my friends to go through all of that dns would be unlikely and I don't wanna be the worlds most annoying player

Just got to the end of the video. No matter how hard I try to see for any positives in bedrock version besides mobile support and little quality-of-life features that are not present in java, I fail miserably.
The bedrock realms suck. It's impossible to use the elytra when there's two or more players on the world, the servers crash and revert progress on a regular basis. Terrible.
@@VirtuosoGT I have played on many realms with my friends and there was never any problems with elytra flying nor reverting progress(actually maybe a few times stuff got rolled back five minutes, but nothing more than that)

Yeah, personally I don't think realms is worth it, unless you play with friends/family. And sadly since i don't have a computer or space for a setup, i can only play minecraft on my switch and xbox. meaning, i, am one of those who have little to no choice when it comes to wanting play on an smp server with friends and family. in the end, i still buy the realms subscription because i want to play with my brother and sister and dont always want to load up the game so we can play together via splitscreen or crossplay. I get burnt out quickly if i dont set goals for myself in a survival world, so i don't always feel like playing. but my siblings on the otherhand, since they are significantly younger and better at minecraft than me; they always want to play with me or on a world we share. so realms is by far the best solution for me, albeit a not so worth it solution..
That’s the same with me my friends and I have been playing a dark fantasy modded world and I have to work and can’t always leave my pc running so it helps because they can play whenever they want and aren’t waiting on me all the time
AND DONT WORRY your free trial will never fail to remind you that your realm is outdated and needs a new subscription to be playable again, every time you open minecraft, for the next six months, even tho you never missed a payment, and you can, in fact, still play.
So actually, on java with a lot more players the realms suck and the bedrock is better and has less players than java. Also was there cookcraft? Just sayin.
I've tried that myself, results were below expectations. Often packs would have conflicts between different devices. An example being that a pack that worked fine on PC having invisible items on console.
you also forgot that you can add resource and behaviour pack in bedrock which is basicly datapacks
Well the data packs sucks tbh

It is really easy to do the DNS method tho. My friend who is bad at electronics was able to easily get it going on Xbox
you can download external mods aswell on bedrock realms by using the resource packs and behavior packs
Relms is ok on bedrock because it shows up in friend list witch is better for xbox, nintendo and playstation

a minecraft player with a girlfriend???
