The fact that there were THREE Supervisors in the room clearly lets me know everything I need to know about the situation. 🤷‍♂️

    • @leesimmons8856

It tells you everything, because those 3 supervisors been through the ranks teaching other officers. And the supervisor promotes the officers.

Agreed, it clearly means abuse is permitted, or at least tolerated. It's shameful on so many levels.

@threseadowell7081 , BINGO. There's no way around what's clearly obvious. For three supervisors to stand there watching, laughing or participating, that means it's normal behavior there. The prison needs to be investigated to see just how far the abuse goes.

You know I've been listening to your back and forth between you and the correctional officer and all I'm hearing is management leadership the things that let this happen which I agree should be a conversation. But the conversation we should be having right now is that why are the individuals involved not in jail that's the conversation that I want to have that's what I want to know why are these people not in jail yet we can discern and find an answer to the who the where the why and the what at a later date which are answers that need to be followed up on and corrective action taken but in the immediate forefront we should be addressing the elephant in the room why aren't these people in jail?

The reason is simple, Hochul and her ilk, such as Cuomo before her, are so corrupt that this is a god send for them to take the spotlight off of them and their other failing and then later to pretend they were at the forefront getting it done.

A code of silence is strictly enforced in a toxic environment, and it starts at the top. Good people either quit or are punished & pushed out for speaking up, which leaves the psychos and indifferent.
This was just another Monday at Marcy. Anyone who tried to stop that would have gotten the same. You can stop a good officer who's stepping over the line. You can't stop a bunch of psychos who are calmly hurting a harmless person for fun.
Even before the gratuitous use of force, the way they carried him into the facility showed flagrant disregard for his safety & wellbeing. That entire staff needs to be investigated.

They did everything to cause the inmate to hyperventilate and when he passed out they took him into the corner of the room and pulled him up by the collar of his sweatshirt causing him to suffocate. When they removed his pants he was already dead as you can see by the reaction of the two male nurses that tried to get a pulse from his wrist and neck.

Whatever the scenario is the moral response is the same. People who watch or allow a person to be mistreated or harrassed and doesn't intervene. They are just as responsible as the person or persons committing the evil act.

People don’t need reminders of the "good ones," and the "good ones" shouldn’t need a medal for simply doing what is right. What’s needed is accountability and systemic change, even if that means the "good ones" are impacted by future decisions. If you truly consider yourself one of the "good ones," you should be the first to demand justice and advocate for human rights. Caring for and protecting others, especially those in vulnerable positions, is not optional-it's a moral obligation.
Furthermore, how can we expect any meaningful rehabilitation in prisons when those tasked with upholding the law are the ones blatantly disregarding it? What message does that send to those inside? How do you think witnessing and experiencing such hypocrisy shapes a person’s mind and sense of justice?

I am from farther upstate then Rome ,Utica area. In fact closer to Clinton correctional facility . We live in a small area so I am friends with people who work at these facilities. But I also know people who have been incarcerated. I do believe someone should’ve intervened just as a human being but also bc they should have taken an oath. Thou shall do no harm. Years ago at our county jail there was escape and I believe some of the cos were watching tv or fell asleep either way they were fired . I believe since killing a man is a crime punishable by law that these gentlemen and I say that sarcastically should have been booked that night and In a jail cell of their own and see how they like it. The officers involved in the escape from dannemora( Clinton correctional were arrested. ) I know not every co is like that but from what ive heard Marcy is known for a hands on facility. And I’ve been following Robert Brooks case and saw news reports etc that ny docs has several facilities around ny that are known for what they call the hit squad . I feel these officers purposefully shut the sound off : apparently all of them And it looks like the medics office was in seperate part of prison that they had to take the van over So away from any of the other prisoners and cos

Anthony Gangi right on point as usual. Right on point. These supervisors and officers all wanted to be known as 1 of the boys, and be in the in crowd. They were all followers and not leaders. The nurse also should stepped up, or left the room to get help. We have a difficult job, but now they lowered us in the publics eyes and worse in our profession. It is mind boggling how could 13 people be involved and not 1 speak up or step up to stop it.

Id like to know why no one is talking about the fact that this actually started at Mohawk, and he was taken to Marcy. Duty to Interviene!? This happens everyday in every facility for no reason. Inmates are treated like garbage. And oh yes I definitely agree someone should have stepped up and stopped this but the thing is there's way more bad officers than good. The bad officers actually even make the good officer's life hell if they don't back them up. Those officers that don't stay long those are the ones that should be talked to because they seen it first hand and felt with the rather of those ego stricken bad officers..right now in all the facilities tension is high. I know too many incarcerated individuals throughout nys all in different facilities each all saying the same exact thing. I've been dealing with prison for 26 years. My own loved ones have said the same thing or told me stories about what they've seen others go through that they don't even know. They've feared for there lives and the lives of other inmates that they have seen being beaten. Everyone needs to understand inmates are at the mercy of the guards, it is set up that way. Every little thing goes through the guards.. that is entirely too much power given to the guards. Just the other day I witnessed myself a guard power struck ego stricken unnecessarily talk serious shit to someone on work relief at a different facility. It wasn't needed he did it simply because he could. Even after he left the other officer that was there said himself that wasn't necessary don't worry about it. But he waited for the dick head to leave before he spoke up. The problem is how this system is ran and the fact that still at this point no charges are filed which tells all these bad guards that get thrills from beaten on these inmates that it's OK and it is not. The law applys to ALL that includes the Co's. The guards are the biggest criminals of all.

The Criminal and Court system and Jury handed down each sentence for these cases. They then become inmates at a Correctional and Rehabilitation Facility to be housed and rehabilitated back into society. According to the sentence handed down each sentence is different according to commited crimes, Correctional Officers are Mandated to facilitate and work with their Chain of Command based on daily behaviors, Communicating to do the necessary procedures and the process of making the best decisions in order to be successful in life changing stability for them to re-enter society. Thats what the tax payers pay for. We want the help of our tax dollars to be paid and see the amount of funds we have paid in to make sure we can have a good out come for all involved. Thats what the American people deserve. We should not have to be wondering if our Justice system is not working for the better good. Or that these people are released back into society because they still haven't been rehabilitated for years, in some cases. Then released and still have not been able to get what they need to be able to be in society. Then reaffend or worse, putting the American people in peril than when the person first offended.

Our criminal Justice system does not rehabilitate and help get back on feet. You are pulled into system and never leave the system. Once you have a felony offense you have no opportunities in life to make things better for yourself unless you are lucky to find someone willing to give you a chance

@TierTalk I had a couple of posts in my career where I was the monitoring / compliance officer...and I found officers who trusted me could talk to me to expose bad or questionable behaviour in others. The key is to not expose the whistle blowers but to catch the bad actors in the act. That way, the bad actors have no one to blame but themselves. Catch the questionable behaviours before they get out of control. (You never want a situation like your guest spoke of where when an officer needs help, the backup cowards). There is a balance, and you are spot on. Sadly, these officers with Brooks should have never allowed a blatant beat down on him. Thank you, @TeirTalk Anthony for having the hard conversations.

@TierTalk The other action we took was in regards to questionable behaviour, we would have training sessions for all addressing the issues, have everyone sign to say they attended the training. This goes a long way to be able to fire bad actors, if they are non compliant.

If you are in a car with someone who commits a crime, you are charged!! They all should be charged!! And a whistleblower protection should be fully in place! Who are the woman to these men.

Most Officers are good people trying to do a difficult job. These Officers were clearly caught up in a pack mentality and totally disregarded their training, principles, and honor. That's nothing in comparison to their wanton disregard for life. It's important for the community to understand that this behavior might be normal for that shift, or at that facility, but it's not the norm throughout corrections.

Supervisors present. Medical staff present. No one stopped it. All these excuses and rationalization are BS. The job is NOT THIS. Have I been in uses of force with inmates , absolutely. Never to that extent. Why. Not necessary at all. Been spit on had urine thrown on me etc. Never beat anyone to that extent. I've worked in corrections for 20 years gentlemen. I supervise security and non security. It's not nievity it's experience. In my experience, there are three types of staff (and three types of inmates, but that's a separate discussion). With staff, you have 1. People who are drawn to public service. 2. People who just need a paycheck. 3. People who want power.
The people in that video are clearly in that third category. Those men are straight up murderers, there is no excuse for what they did. This was a disgusting horrible crime. That behavior is not normal in most facilities. Some of us actually give a shit. @@christopherbrown9279

I'm sorry I got another comment you just said when you introduced your guest that you are among some of the cops who do their job 100 percent every day all day And that as a community we should not judge a few Rogue cops for the evil that these correction officers committed just the other day. Now it's funny that you say that because every time I've had an interaction with a cop I have always been lumped in with the general population, Let me give you an example because I'm not a criminal I don't have any felony i've never done prison time a few overnight in jail but who hasn't but I got pulled over the other night I live in Indiana and I will give you it I was walking my dog at 12:30 at night And when I was pulled over And Demanded my identification which I will giving that it was 12:30 at night a court could find he had reasonable articulable suspicion to identify me but the interesting thing was that I didn't have my identification with me I just walked outside my house i've got my dog I walked around the corner a few blocks and whenever this count fools me over he tells me or he says to me oh you don't have a dentification oh well who leaves their house and then an identification I don't ever leave with my house without identification nobody leaves their house without identification now I only mentioned that because in reference to your comment that we shouldn't love a few bad correctional officers in with all the good cops again it sounds like to me you're looking for special treatment because you're asking me not to lump you in with the bad cops and the bad correctional officers but yet I'm not given the same respect on the street I'm seeing at 12:30 at night walking my dog i've got to be a bad guy now let me put a cheering on top myself i'm 55 years old i'm a combat veteran I have post traumatic stress to the point where I am 70% disabled through the V A due To my post traumatic stress I don't sleep at night sleep at night comes very difficult for me so I'm generally up all night and I take my dog for a walk at night lest people things are a lot calm down a lot more calm down and I feel like I have more control over the situations now I only mentioned that because I'm not a bad guy but yet this cop who pulled me over immediately assumed I was a bad guy and I used that word assumed that I was a bad guy and I was doing something wrong but you're asking for me not to do it with you but yet I don't get the same respect from cops on the street how's that fair again it sounds like to me you're asking for special treatment

See this is what makes me mad when it comes to law enforcement jailers correctional institution officers. So there were 13 individuals involved in this and one nurse and here's my question for you you know you spoke early on the video about cop about correction officers you know resigning on leave without pay this so forth and so on how. How why isn't all 14 of those people behind bars right now pending the investigation. IE case in point if me as a civilian and 13 of my buddies rolled up on somebody or random somebody and beat the brakes off this dude and then There is a video of what happened we would be in jail before the end of the night we'd be in cuffs in jail And arraigned the next morning we may not all be charged with murder but because all 13 of us were there when the event happened where we are all culpable. But yet you have 13 correction officers and a nurse who rendered no aid the 13th correctional officers that were the ones who participated and the ones who rendered no aid And not a single one of them has been arrested placed in jail arraigned held on murder charges there's 13 of them you only mentioned what 3 1 retired or resigned a couple on our administrative leave getting paid I'm quite sure how do you sit there with a straight face and say that you guys are not above the law there's a video that shows what happened there's a video that shows the individuals that are involved why are they not arrested because I can assure you if there was a video of me as a civilian beating the brakes off some dude and he died the next day and the cops got the video i'd be locked up I wouldn't get to resign get put off work Without pay or with pay they should have been arrested the day after the event so the day oh boy died these individuals should have been arrested because any civilian would have been explain that to me explain why these guys aren't in cuffs. Because your cop and if you rolled up on me and the 13 of my buddies that was involved in a beat down session that costed a man's life would you or would you not arrest every last one of us? These guys aren't arrested they're still sitting at home some of them are still on the job??? why how So don't tell me that you're held to a higher standard because it's not true we have a video to prove that and I doubt any of them seem murder charges it must be nice to be a cop because you guys have the honor and privilege of wearing the badge and the uniform to police the population and the community that you live and you're also given extreme power to take a man or woman's life as you see fit and there are 0 to very few ramifications case in point we have fourteen individuals and at least what 9 are still on the job. And moreover what about the sheer blatant disregard for human decency if I was on a trial and I was being prosecuted for taking a man's life that would be part of it the prosecution would be like and then we have the individual who according to the video this is business as usual I wouldn't get 10 years I wouldn't get 20 years I wouldn't get 30 years I would get 400 years and then one of her I died I would be given another charge of attempted escape and they would add another hundred years on top of the sentence

This person who made this statement has no evidence of what's going on in these prisons. From my 32 years in prison these beatings are going on each and everyday. They had me on a circus tour of the most vicious, and racist prison abuse like Atica that had escalated into the uprising of mass inmate murders! The further away I was taken from the City, racism was more aggressive, and proliferated throughout the NY State Prison system!
