6:50 my cousin used to be *terrified* of Lupin's warewolf form, he'd freak out so bad and I felt really bad for him cause it's my favorite Harry Potter movie. What does get me from the Harry Potter movies is that little Voldemort in the 4th and last movies....so creepy...

I always thought the second theory where we had to recognize human adjacent threats came from like the other species of humans. Like as I understand it we were one of many prehistoric humans, so we all looked pretty similar with a couple of different features. And maybe that’s where the like threat part comes from, maybe we had to fight other species of humans to survive. I do think that traditional folklore is cool though like the skinwalker, but I like to think that it’s a relic from prehistory. I believe there’s evolution charts out there like we have for dinosaurs, just humans instead. Cool stuff all around.

Just had this recommended after watching the Liminal Park ARG and all those images genuinely fucking broke me, they played off the uncannyness of what I assume was early AI, it's insane

TBH the Birka Girl reconstruction is really good and even looks alive (the artist is Oscar Nilsson and he’s definitely one of the best and better facial reconstruction artists out there), but lots of other facial reconstructions of people both ancient and modern definitely look uncanny valley. It just depends on the artist and the materials or technique and their skill level and the proportions and realism they end up using. Another really good one is the Yde Girl reconstruction by Richard Neave.
