It's a bit late for thorough but for anyone wondering, the dog barking is caused by the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) that connects the redundant hydraulic systems. It's a way for one or more of the aircraft's individual engine driven hydraulic pumps to drive multiple systems while retaining total fluid isolation. The flow from one system drives a pump which provides flow to the other system. I can't remember the exact reason for the barking after engine 1 start, but basically it's because the engine 2 pump was driving both hydraulic systems using the PTU until engine 1 had started and both EDPs were turning. The PTU barks multiple times as it 'chatters' on and off in response to changing hydraulic pressure, and I've read it also has a self-test mechanism which causes it to operate during startup.
Me as a pilot: ''Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.. we are experiencing catasprophic system failure, please put your head between your knees, pray for a quick death and dont forget to put your seats back in their upright position''
you see squirrel flying a plane in this simulators and knowing everything to a plane makes you go, "oh this man knows everything about aviation". then you watch his train, bus and truck videos and notice he's like an enthusiast/expert at each of these individually. impressive. what does squirrel not know?
Going "missed" is when you fail to intercept the glideslipe, usually when in a hold/approach fix. Declaring missed would have ATC vector you around to have another go at intercepting. Your landing would have been a go around and a climb back to procedure altitude over another fix beyond the active runway. Enjoying these vids, keep them coming :-)
Throughly enjoyable video including your commentary. I'm so glad you did this with FS passenger as I've always been intruged how this ad-on worked with a full flight. Please keep the P3d videos coming!!
Two learning points for you :P The speed was too low on final because the weight in the MCDU was less than the actual weight, so the onboard computer calculated a lower speed which would have been appropriate for the lower weight. The ILS didn't work because you selected a VOR approach in the MCDU, although you had the right ILS frequency tuned in! Good job though! :)
i stumbled apon this video while watching you q&a playing ETS2 and as i started a big project at the 2nd biggest airport in the world, Pearson international Airport in toronto, ontario, Canada, i was trully fascinated by how you played thru this like you have done this in real life. continue doing what you do Sir. you got all my respect.
Squirrel, you seem to have a pretty good frame rate so I thought I'd make a recommendation for you, just to make your simulations that much more realistic. I would definitely recommend some freeware AI traffic, specifically a set called "SKY AI Traffic". You just drag and drop it into your SimObjects folder and change the traffic level in P3D settings to whichever level you fancy, and real aircraft will be flying real flight plans using the ATC. Pretty cool. I'd also recommend some kind of weather, where I'd suggest one of two options. You can either use Active Sky Next which gives you real world weather, or REX Weather Architect which allows you to create your own weather worldwide, if for example you want it create a storm to fly into! Cheers Paul, great video!
You speaking of Vatsim I thought I'd give you my thoughts as I've been doing it around 2 years now; Using the NGX with FS2Crew makes it easier, and more difficult at the same time. Preparation and take-off is made easier because while you're sorting the ATIS, clearance delivery and checking the charts, FS2Crew is dealing with everything for you, this is true on take-off as well, transition altitude, 10,000 feet etc. While your flying the SID you can also tell FS2Crew to set the radios when you are transferred from Tower to Departure/Approach, centre etc etc. Landing is very similar however getting lined up and dealing with ATC then doing the landing checklist in a short amount of time, can be tough. That being said, the benefits of FS2Crew when flying online outweigh that and it's something I would thoroughly recommend. Make sure you have charts, make sure you study the charts and make sure you know how to read them. If you don't do all three, don't bother with events because you're not ready. Second, when flying events (I only fly events most of the time) make sure you know how to program holds in the plane you fly and know how to fly them. Make sure you check the charts, including the text charts. Salzberg for example you need to know how to execute that missed approach and how to do a CAT2/CAT3 landing. If you don't read the text charts, you won't know this is possible. Third, also checkout IVAO. I never bothered, and after the copyright thing I said I really never would. But then, I thought, actually let's check it out. I noticed two big things; first vPilot on Vatsim is a lot easier to setup then the IVAO way. However, it's not a massive thing. Second, IVAO around Europe is far, far better then Vatsim. I often see smaller airports online across Europe more often to the point I am very surprised. I've never seen Bordeaux online on Vatsim but I do on IVAO along with many many other airports. Vatsim is good in London and Germany I will admit, but IVAO has more airports. In fact, Vatsim often has area controllers online but IVAO seams more airport focused, which, for me anyway, is better. I won't leave Vatsim because some events are great and I do enjoy it, but do look at IVAO and I recommend using both. Talking of events, and my last point, I thoroughly recommend Cross The Pond. I did it in the NGX in October, which it can do the 777 would be better (I don't have the 777 hence the NGX) and when you're over the ocean you just need to check in every 30 minutes. I did quite a bit that day of other stuff while over the ocean. And, you do think it's going to be a waste of a day, but it was honestly fun. Thing is, I was tired, really tired by the end, and landing that plane was tough because of the tiredness. Experiencing that alone is well worth it.
+Chris H Thanks for that Chris. I do study the the charts before takeoff and landing. As for IVAO I don' t know much about it, other than Matt had a copyright strike on his channel by them recently (which was later removed).
Sorry Paul, didn't mean to make it sound like you didn't check the charts, I more meant it's even more important when online. I didn't know anything about IVAO until the copyright thing but check out their WebEye tool to see whose online. Vatsim has Vatspy. Both good tools to see who is online and where. I would check out the "bridge" events, both Vatsim and IVAO do them which is flying between two cities. Full ATC the whole way, but often fairly short, like Stansted to Amsterdam. I would say, don't be too worried about it. If you are though, find a controllers who are online, park up in an out-of-the-way part of an airport and tune in to ground, tower etc and just listen. I did this to begin with and it's a great way to get you used to the voice quality and terminology. Also pretty relaxing while you plane watch :)
My neighbor flies for AA and when he's in the 321 leaving Phoenix he has to run the APU on hot days so he gets every ounce of thrust out of those engines :-) He says he's only overtemped the engines 3 times, all at Phoenix ;-) (The mechanics said they just remove the engine, derate them, and put them on a 320 or 319, doesn't comfort me much :-) Well done Capt. ;-)
Hey Squirrel, don't know if you'll see this but I really recommend you get WOAI AI traffic if you turn on AI traffic. Not sure how compatible it is with P3D but it makes the AI traffic much more immersive and is very good (plus it's free!). Looking forwards to more flight sim on the channel and keep up the good work!
squirrel my name is curtis and I just want to tell you I have watched you know for a couple of years now. you're great and keep making great videos cheers.
Hi squirrel you selected autopilot 2, that's why ils frequency didn't work for vloc and app. The frequency was right because you could fly ils instruments. Great video by the way!!!
+Squirrel Paul you are one of the best You-tubers out there. I have been following you since 2012 and whenever I see your uploaded video, it is the first video that I watch. Thank you Paul for all that entertainment! Just a flight suggestion LFPO-LIPZ or LSGG-LIPZ I am hoping that you will join VATSIM soon.
Hey Squirrel! Just a tip in case you did not know -- You can use EditVoicepackXL to add in a callsign for SAL to P3D's ATC and also accelerate the speech to your preference :)
+Squirrel I think it can be installed in a different directory to P3D/FSX, but the point of the app is that it alters the .gvp file in your Sound/ATC directory inside the Prepar3D folder. If you do fly with Real-life traffic (eg. MyTraffic 6) its quite handy as it gives a lot of callsigns. You can read more about it here editvoicepack.com/ :) (You can still use the unlicensed/free version its just that it gives an extra phrase to remind the user to buy the product during take-off/landing clearances)
Hey mate the newer version of fspassenger, there is a option for you to disable the payload done by fsp and use your own payload in this case the aerosoft fuel planner. However, fsp did not list "aerosoft" in their list of addon to disable. So you have to manually do that in the config file itself. 1 more tip, you can see how many passenger there are for you to fly for before you actually start the payload window. You can then use the aerosoft fuel planner to set the number of passengers and the payload. You then start the your flight ONLY touching the number of passengers you want them to board. In this case 89 passengers. C:\Users\Public\Documents\FsPassengersP3D\Config

Hello squirrel, just wanted to ask you what version or what license even you have in the video you have. I see it varies in price from 60$ to 2300$. Other than that I saw in your channel that you have other equipment like pedals and rudder? Maybe you have written this already but there are 800 messages and I only saw a few. I see also in this p3d it is possible to add shipping? Would it be so realistic like airplane one? Hoping to hear from you. Thanks!
+Squirrel how do you know all buttons ? :D i was watching and asking myself how do you know when or what to press. Awesome video tho. i would like to see those more :)
Question for Paul or chat if u know I have fsx steam I love the sim aspect and learning to do everything my self from start to finish I've been looking into p3d but can't wrap my head around the price yearly what are the differences between fsx and p3d is it worth the buy? And which version do I buy I'm not rich so the 60$ version is max I could spend but from visual aspect it seems they are very much alike
How do you get ezdok working I've bought it installed it and updated it all the way for p3d v3 I've used the configurator and as soon as I open p3d it runs ezdok and it just says fsx process not found and it quits I've tried everything but it doesn't work I'm quite damn tired of this damn thing I don't know what to do I want ezdok as I want to start making videos but I'm pondering about just not using it but then it would be a waste of my 30 dollars ugh
Squirrel not sure if you are aware and I think it's still available there is a programme called EditVoicepack, this lets you set up your own cal, sign for ATC so you could load SAL???? Hope it's still available ✈️👮

Never used to watch long videos of flight sims but squirrel's commentary makes it interesting and I always watch the whole thing :)
Cool :)
Why Don't You Do A Career Series On Here, Similar To Eurodiaries, Where You Build Up Squirrel Airlines?
I Would Watch It!!
There isn't a career mode on prepard3D
Hendy he installed a mod
@hendy didn't you watch the vid?
Me as a pilot: ''Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.. we are experiencing catasprophic system failure, please put your head between your knees, pray for a quick death and dont forget to put your seats back in their upright position''
instead of being squirrel airlines you should be the flying squirrel
epic veteran it was a suggestion
Sugar glider should be his call sign
Its already a name of a real company

i wanna become a pilot. 5yrs from now i'll look back on this comment to see if i succeeded. Wish me luck guys!
Good luck!
Good luck mate

Become the Yonko of the Air!
aithal sumanth Tis my dream
I can confirm you pronounced Fiumicino very well! The one thing needed to make this realistic is the flight departing at least an hour late.
FsPassengers makes the game much more addicting, one of the things i hope dovetail has by default in the upcoming flight sim.
I just flew from Dusseldorf to Kopenhagen. took 1u15 to get there. Flew with a Embraer 175. Wonderful aircraft I really recommend it
That sure is fun to watch!
That is a lot to keep track of by yourself and without a checklist... Kudos Squirrel...
I haven't seen the vid yet! but I know its amazing as usual, also can you make some flights with failures please??
how do u know ALL the buttons?!
The one Legend I know all of them too. I'm flying over 2 years now in FSX.
HOURS OF LEARNING AND PRACTICE. Although it seems he is using mods that make it easier and faster......
If you regularly play the game you will remember
He is an teachter in real life

squirrel, I love that you do all of this stuff on fs, yet you can't keep a straight line on the runway during takeoff.
Not sure how so many people like this, but I'm glad they do for Paul's sake.

Yes. Some would say better then FSX
Thanks
Do a P3D Vatsim shared cockpit with matt and do everything as real as possible.
We're already planning it
Squirrel Wow that's great! Please do more than one, because I love the flight to Innsbruck!
FSpassengers makes the SAL series soo much better
Thank you for showing Bari! My home town!
Damn! You lost me after the first sentence! Bloody impressive my friend. So much to remember!
I spent a whole summer in Puglia a few years back, and flew into Bari (and out of Bari as well). Great video!

+Squirrel 4 engine plane
+Tyree Thomas Your talking about the A340, there isn't a good one for P3D.
Fly X ok
+Nommekas How about one from Boeing 777 300ER, 787 or even an airbus a380 800?

Can you make a flight from BElgrade LYBE to Podgorica LYPG?
88% happines aboard of Your flying from Rome, to Bari wasn t so bad :)
I saw it Went upp later.. after comment ..oh well ..:)
hey paul nice flight from u......atlast u started these type of flight really enjoyed the flight.....best of luck with ur up comming videos...✌✌
Love watching all the videos on this channel but I must admit, the flight sim videos have to be my favourite, keep up the good work😀.
well done for the video. are you going to do more with the squirrel airlines ??
Hope you make one from Bari to Malta
Like the simulation of passenger fear in the new mod. Very useful for real pilots I think!
In Rome your pushback when through the rear cargo loader and wing... sill managed to fly ;-) But was great flight!!!
I never know Microsoft flight simulator was this detailed. Then again, I’m not a pilot and I couldn’t even pass some of the normal missions
I wish to death I could play this game, but it looks so complicated!!!! Props to you Squirrel.
In your video of the 737-700 from Edinburgh to Heathrow, Squirrel Airlines was SQR
can you make a career mode using the passenger thing where you start with the smaller planes
hi, how do you get to use the overhead panel buttons, mine dont let me change any of them except lights
OMG MY HOME TOWN BARI AHHHHHH
love videos your videos are just relaxing and help me to become better at simulators kepp it up
+Squirrel Paul you are one of the best You-tubers out there. I have been following you since 2012 and whenever I see your uploaded video, it is the first video that I watch. Thank you Paul for all that entertainment! Just a flight suggestion LFPO-LIPZ or LSGG-LIPZ
I am hoping that you will join VATSIM soon.
very good video squirrel so loved the flight attendant she was funny
Nice raw data approach ;) Greetings from a 777 driver...
Great Video Paul, you always fail to disappoint! Next Step, VATSIM :)
Hey Squirrel! Just a tip in case you did not know -- You can use EditVoicepackXL to add in a callsign for SAL to P3D's ATC and also accelerate the speech to your preference :)

(You can still use the unlicensed/free version its just that it gives an extra phrase to remind the user to buy the product during take-off/landing clearances)
Awesome Video, Just watched it as it came out!
"Wrong button!" That doesn't make me wanna go on a plane xD
The excess G-forces, could that be because you made your taxiing turns above 10 knots?
Hi Squirrel, that FSPassengers, ive tried to download, and then i need Service pack.. I use steam and dont find it for steam you know why?
I think you can get FS2crew for the A320. It's a virtual co-pilot
how did you get the airbus a319 apu sound into the a320?
Can't wait to see Squirrel flying on VATSIM :D
Does FSPassengers have a feature where if you fly on a Boeing turbulence is less of a problem

Oh my gosh, your frame rate is amazing!
I've got stutters all the time, until i stopped playing FSX because of that.
Nice video btw.
+ActivePilot Try FS2004, if you are getting lag on FSX. It was made in 2004 (Obviously) and you can run it on even windows 98
how do you set the control? my control are slugish and delay so i have to put very little at a time or a lot sometimes
I've got LIBD X scenery but I do not have the actual city scenery. What do you use?
What version of P3D is this? I'm considering trying it but I'm not sure what the best option is.
+Squirrel how did u get your own livery for the plane???
Tried to play this game for ages, I don't even learned how to install the game like yours '-'

So how did you learn to do all this is there training in sim ??
That PTU is music to my ears.
The god of the simulators
Woo, Squirrel!
New to your channel, Squirrel. Loving the content. Also, I loved this mod. Please do more of this. Thanks. :)
Awesome and welcome :)
Don't worry there is a lot more coming this year
Looking forward to it. :)
+Squirrel where can i get that skin for the airbus
I am looking forward to 2016 and what plans you have
Hi squirrel, I think you should put the failures on and do a flight it would be nice to see how you would deal with the failures happening randomly 😀
Better service than in real world :D
Does FS Passengers and GSX work with xplane 11?
Can you get different aircraft flying at the same time?
You should fly London to Berlin
