Daniel, you are definitely one of kind. I’ve been following your videos for a while now and I’m so glad that I have. You are an honest and trustworthy dealer that tells things as they are. Unfortunately there aren’t enough people like you out there. We as human beings are naturally trusting and sometimes very gullible. We let ourselves believe that businesses are fair and have our best interests in mind. I realize that even you are in business to make a profit but your approach and honesty sets you apart from so many others. Let me not take up too much of your time and suffice it to say, thanks for your work ethics and honesty. I will continue to be a loyal follower.

Thanks for the information! My first major coin purchase was in 2008 through a deal you described: a collection of US Mint Uncirculated Sets spanning 1968 -2006 that I paid about $700 for through one of those home shopping channels. The actual retail individual value of the set pieces totaled about $450, so I ended up paying $250 more than I should have, or more than 50% over value. But I was new and didn't know any better. 12 years later, I now purchase all manner of coins and currency, but not without doing extensive research on each before buying. Consider that $250 back then the cost of my education.

My grandfather fell for Littleton's coin gimmicks back in the 80s and 90s. I have no idea how many coins he actually bought off them, as only a few were still in the envelopes or package they came in. However, I see the writing on the wall so-to-speak as I'm going through his collection.
These people will do just about _anything_ to sell you something for a quick dollar and it's sad to see the other end of the deal, the people they rip off, their hard-earned cash going to waste.

I bought10 oz from Provident Spot price free shipping. 14.74 an ounce last Night has a new customer.Called my brother today he said all let me think about it.. Great video! You have to remember: "Rare Coins" are rare and valuable because they are rare and valuable! HSN and other marketers need items to sell that are available in large quantities and at such a low cost that can be marked up tremendously. Ask yourself: "How rare can the coins be if they are sold via TV, the Internet, magazines and direct mail?" Save up and buy one or several "rare" coins from a legitimate dealer such as Daniel that will have much more potential than the quarters, halves and dollars that are now cranked out by the US Mint! Do some research and let history be the guide to what's rare and desirable to collectors. Be well! Ed

Unethical and misleading coin sales are the bane of this otherwise hugely rewarding hobby/investment. There is a very steep learning curve for novice numismatists. You do a superb job of educating some of us who might otherwise make a costly mistake during this learning process. I also like how you emphasize that certain types of sets such as paint or hologram decorated coins are fine to collect for fun to post on a shelf but really not with the expectation that value will stay the same or increase. Thanks for posting your enlightening videos.

I have never entered a LCS just yet until I educate myself with at least getting familiar with some KEY DATES on these coins and always keeping my trusty RED BOOK at hand. Even when I participate in these CRH on these channels of how much I put in comparing to what I'm getting out of them. I've been a subscriber here for about three months now to know who I believe to be telling the truth. I'm a firm believer in the saying, "TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO HEAR NOT WHAT I WANT TO HEAR". Please don’t collect this stuff thinking your going to leave it to your family and it is going to be worth something. I now am dealing with this coin collection that was left to my wife and am quickly learning that it’s not worth anything or not much more than money value. The time it’s taking me to deal with this is astronomical and could be spent better elsewhere earning real money. Heck the money spent on this collection would have been better invested instead in the stock market. If you like coin collecting fine. But at least pass on your knowledge and let the people who your leaving this stuff to know it’s true worth. Daniel, great advice. Thanks.

I use the PCGS App on my phone to check current auctions prices. I've purchased a couple of those 'Estate Lots', got some decent finds out of it (nothing to write home about, of course). But now, I'l check the App before agreeing to any 'sale' price on coins.

I do the same thing. I was watching a show the other night and they were selling some pre-33 gold for wayyyy more than the actual value.

Gold plated coins are so awesome! They aren't any more valuable than plain, but I get to buy them for 2x or 3x times what they're worth. It's like being a US Congressman, except with my own money :-/

Great video that I liked to watch every once in a while. You made another video recently on why coin collect. For me it started around 12 years old wrapping coins for my father. Some were different and he let me keep them. 45 years later and saving all my change every year and going through it once a year, I get small surprises. It is the ART. the history, the time/memory. My kids know of my collection and i left notes to them in it. I dont know who will keep it once i am gone but I asked it never be sold. One question. I heard a statement on tv today for the elimination of the 1 cent piece after 2020, what do you think?

I am not a Numismatist. I only buy Gold and Silver coins from reputable dealer. I do get some limited edition coloured coins for my grandchildren, but only if I like them.
