I have been using the Saturn 4U for 7 months and have poured 20 kilograms of resin. It is very easy to use. Don’t skimp on support. In winter, you must use a heater to heat the resin to 25-30 degrees Celsius (you can use a 12V power supply with a long strip The PTC heater is attached to the outside of the material trough. If it falls off due to temperature difference, a 100-watt air heater is needed)
a few things to help your prints. 1. sounds like the failed supports are under exposed, u might have to go to 3.5 sec. 2. might need a heater 3. the residue might be uncured resin possibly from not washing well enough or not using clean water 4. if you want to print alot get a flex plate
@@CALtheSPAR Don't get a flex plate for this printer, they aren't designed for the lateral force and will slide off while you print. I haven't experienced it, but seen the aftermath of FB groups several times in the last few months.
The best way to learn is to have these mistakes, without them how will you learn what to do, to be fair the sponsored TH-camrs have been printing a long time and know what resins and settings to use without having to think on it, Water washing resin can be pretty unpredictable at times too as it's more brittle than other resins. temperatures and exposure times are crucial too, try downloading a calibration print with any new resins so you can fine tune your exact settings for the printer, will save you time and effort
I think the friendly part of these printers is the fact that all you had to adjust was the exposure. all the others have a whole set of other settings that the slicer won't even show you with this unit because it doesn't use/need them. Doesn't mean it's absolutely fool proof of course, but simplifying the solution of issues to only a couple of adjustments seems as friendly as it can be. I was going to mention about the issues you had but I see others have given you good advice already, Good luck printing!
You need manual build plate leveling, I heard this feature was recently updated in the firmware . The worst is yet to come and that is with the LCD screen replacement as almost the entire printer needs to be dissassembled inorder to replace that LCD screen, which is a consumable along with the PFA sheet.
It's a very good printer when you get it going, but you need to do research first, like the video says it's not plug and play, like the sponsored TH-camrs make you believe. Thanks for watching.
@@CALtheSPAR no thank you! If I didn't watch your video I wouldn't have known. Now I need to dig deeper about the LCD replacment and other resin printers.
yeh wish i never got the ultra the tilting is too hard on supports my very first print pushed a hole in the film because a large hunk fell off then kept getting pounded and pushing the rest of the print sideways what should have been a straight wall turned into a staircase .. , plus its AI camera is useless as it can not even see the print because the build plates always in the way , and why the heck can the build plate not fit into the wash station !!! and why does the top of the build plate fill up with liquid (talking about when you clean in it alcohol its damn near impossible to empty back out so you loose ~50ml of alcohol ) also my build plate is seriously warped rear right corner is on the maximum adjustment and its still pushing down further than any other corner
Notice you’re in a garage… you above 25C? If not there’s no point in reviewing the prints. And you can’t blame the printer if your exposure settings for the resin weren’t right… So far I don’t think anything you brought up was actually a knock on the printer… if you didn’t calibrate resin specific settings, and keep 20-30C, any printer would fail.
It was unboxed in the garage but printing was in the house at 26c, resin settings correct according to Elegoo's website, I'm not knocking the printer it's a good printer, but not beginner friendly like all the sponsored TH-camrs want you to believe..
Only unboxed in the garage, printing in the house 26c.. resin settings were correct to elegoo website.
Excellent honest review, yeah never trust sponsored TH-cam videos.. Lol..

Thanks buddy.
All the sponsored videos were so obviously bs.
Appreciate the honesty.

Yeah I just seen the video about changing the LCD screen, that's going to be a nightmare.. What a stupid design.
@@CALtheSPAR There's a simpler method but not without risks. You need a hot air gun and some mobile screen repair tools.
@@alfredanil I just got this printer I would like to know about the shortcut method you are talking about.
Dont use that plastic scaper use silicon. The plastic one is no good for the fep
Good lord 😮😮 I didn't buy this printer yet, I am in the market for a new resin printer, was looking at this one but now I will pass on it
