Rodri’s understanding of the game is second to none. The way he controls matches. Now he’s started adding more goals to his arsenal. Not every Jim and Jack execute what Rodri does. I’m sure that’s why Arteta went on to get Declan Rice cause he needed someone different to try this role after he tried it with Partey numerous occasions. Don’t get me wrong, Partey is quality, absolutely. But in football you have to get the basics right all the time. You have to use your intelligence/understanding and your technical abilities.

Honestly, i don’t really pay attention to Rodri, he is a clutch player that’s for sure. But Partey has everything, speed, awareness, effortlessness, passing, Footballing IQ. The way he plays it’s like he doesn’t even try but you can’t even get close to him and even if 3-4 players comes close to press, he gets out of the press very easily.
