What the hell is happening at Sunderland anyway? They are a big club with a great stadium and great support, and yet they're languishing down the divisions for years on end. Why? They should at the very least be one of the teams that has a few years in the Premiership and maybe goes down to the Championship occasionally, only to soon come back up again. They are surely the equal of the likes of Norwich or Fulham or, my team, Stoke City. Just wondering.
Was kinda hoping he’d wear that iconic long blue coat. Remember when Rihanna was clocked wearing a similar coat coming out a hotel in the morning people were like ‘Wenger hittin that’ 😂
The fact that Ian Wright still calls Arsene Wenger 'Boss' shows how much influence he had during his time and how big of an impact he made. Respect from a Liverpool fan
ohhh the battles.... great times.... United vs Arsenal...... it was all out war..... now i have nothing but respect for that MU side and fergie... back then i felt a little different LOL... great times
The Kante story is crazy! It just goes to show how difficult it can be to get signed and even world class players get overlooked. I think at some point, everyone needs to be in the right place at the right time.
@@mubienkvape Ik for a FACT that Ronaldinho will fail in United. He's got disciplinary problems, which is something SAF despise so much. Though it could change since Ronaldo was not a mature player much himself till SAF and boys like Giggs and Scholes literally had to bully him in the dressing room to make him live a healthier lifestyle. Ronaldo to Arsenal however, none would know. Would Wenger let him play the way he wants, or have him play lots of passes, just like the way Wenger wants. But yet again, Wenger always says things about letting players play with freedom, Ronaldo might have been the perfect piece to Arsenal winning the UCL in 2006.
@@mrplut0 well, he didn't seem to have disciplinary problems during seasons 2004-2007, you know those seasons when he was by MILES the best on the planet :D:D but yes, after his Barcelona glory days, it all went down-hill...... but every genius has "crazy mind" I guess...... that's how they differ from most of us
Wrighty still calling Arsene, 'boss', shows how much reverence he holds for him, absolutely wonderful to see and hear. Arsene deserves nothing less than the respect he garners. Truly an inspiring individual, that oozes class.
How amazing is Arsene Wenger’s memory. He can literally talk about any of his players and list their whole history! That’s how committed he is! Wow 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I don't think the question about Kane was scripted and Wenger remembered that Kane was 9 years old at the Academy and left at 11. Unless that's the regular ages that kids move through the Academy, that's a crazy thing to know on the spot.
Forget how it ended. The professional sacrifice that Arsene gave to enable the stadium move and see the club through the period of financial balance deserves a statue. What this man has done for English football will never be fully recognised
It ended with overachievement vs wage bill. 3 FA cups in last five years and only 1 season outside of champs league is overachieving for the 5th highest wage bill
Didn't he end it with the FA Cup tho? If I'm remembering correctly which made Arsenal the leaders in FA Cup wins at the time? For the shit he had to put up with that's a good send off just unfortunately people and sky etc been disrespecting the FA Cup over the last decade or so.
Remember the time when, Pixie, now coach of Serbia national team said that he is the Best coach in the Word? They where in Japan at that time. I wonder wtf he is speaking for this anonimus?
Unfortunate you feel the need to validate your opinion by stating you're a Chelsea fan. As if you didn't. People would accuse you of being a delusional Arsenal fan. No one can dispute any of your points. Regardless of allegiance.
I wonder how Kante appreciates that person who used to take him to clubs to sign him, and how does that person feels when he sees the success Kante reached. From no one wants you to wining world cup and premiere league.
there are many similar stories to this in football and it really highlights the fact that one of the best pieces of advice you could give a young player is to not listen to negative opinions and keep trying. they are opinions at the end of the day and are often wrong.
I am a United fan and I want to thank Arsenal and Wenger for the most memorable rivalry in the 90s. Out of the hatred back in those days, all I have now is respect for everybody, heck even Keown. Thank you Arsenal and Wenger for the memory.
@@manuel_winde Never van Nistelrooy. But yeah, time goes on, so much water under the bridge now - I used to HATE United. I could still name most of their 11s through the 90s. What a manager Ferguson was - incredible, frankly.. the best.. Miss that rivalry. Miss those big games. Tides turn though and there's a lot to look forward to. Come on you Arsenal!
Arsene Wenger is a professor of football ,as a Utd fan I have nothing but respect for this man . His ability to work with people from all walks of life was magic.
I'm glad Arsene mentioned Olivier Giroud as an underrated footballer, many fans give him shit for his goal drought, but realised too late when he was gone, we missed his presence and played one the best football the club has ever seen. Criminally underrated.
@@ThaEzioAuditore It's relative. Wenger thought bringing in Lacazette would be an improvement on Giroud and he clearly wasn't. If anything he was a downgrade
@@ThaEzioAuditore Bang average??? Guess you never was at the games he made a difference and scored those goals when there was moments when we was not going to win. Derby match comes to mind, The team goal with Santi, Jack ect. Only plastic fans would think Giroud was "bang average"
Funny as such a highly rated coach he's still underrated and under appreciated. He changed the whole global football scene, with the diets, the technology, the sleeping regimes etc. Plus, his style of football. Legend.
It's probably because of the trophy drought arsenal had. I'll admit around 2013ish I was looking around the rest of the premier League thinking "why won't Wenger spend some money?". I regret it now but I was young at the time.
@@danjackson1016 …and it just goes to show how good he’s been as a manager, to keep the team afloat with whack players such as Sanogo and Bendtner to make sure that the club had the money to have the stadium project completed, out of pocket! He took a lot of flack on behalf of management because he clearly wasn’t the (only) one to decide on what should be done with the money! I’m sure if he was a manager with no vision he would have demanded money like the current crop of managers, just to buy players ready to win stuff outright, which honestly if you look at Man U and Barça now, you realize that these things are unsustainable! Man U spent over a Billion pounds on players, they’re getting worse and their stadium needs a lot of work!!!
@@Mntungwa77 I know that now of course. Back then I was around 13 though and I didn't know how football worked behind the scenes. To be honest this season I'm looking at what Arteta has done and thinking he's trying to pick up where Wenger left off.
Exactly. If Ferguson ever left Man United in those days, Wenger would be the instant choice I'd have to replace him. In fact, Arsenal often played more attractive football than Man United did, it's just the results/trophies between them both didn't reflect that.
Love that Ian still calls him The Boss when speaking about him and Boss when speaking to him. That's a measure of respect, that has been earnt, I can get behind. Great vid.
If you pay attention to the body language, you can see there's a tremendous amount of respect between these two. Not only that, Ian still calling Arsene "boss" is simply so heartwarming and wholesome. So lovely.
That's exactly why modern football is a circus. Players nowadays lost all respect to their peers, superiors and most of all to the fans. When you see 18 year old millionnaires threatening clubs and coaches and acting like drama queens, just because they had a couple of good seasons and have a couple million followers on social media. While at the time established legends would kill on the pitch just to earn the respect of the coach,of the fans. they played for the club, they fought for the club and they bled for the club. Look at United under Sir Alex, no player was above the club, Prime Beckham still has the scars to show for it. Now look at Pogba, almost at the end of his career, yearly episodes of drama, and despite all his skill, still no achievement
Even with a team having likes of squillaci, chamak, santos.. All sort of underperformers in main team Arsene managed a 4th place assurance. Such a legend.
@@joeedward-few6040 yeah for sure he'd bought them, with limited piggybank only those are whom he could have bought. We've seen hazard, kante, and many likes slip off after initial grasp.

I'm a Liverpool fan, and remember feeling very jealous of the way arsenal played. This guy is a legend. If you take into account the success on the field with limited funds, his influence in modernising the English game and also how he grew Arsenal as a club in terms of reputation and the stadium, there's an argument for him being the best Premier League manager ever.
Best, no. Top three, yes. I think SAF and Guardiola definitely beat him to it. Wenger is a class act though and so professional. From a city fan, always loved Arsene

Same as a Spurs fan. He changed the nature of the game when he arrived. Arsenal fans did him dirty at the end. I think he could have achieved more for them if he hadn't been so limited financially.
The way he talks about his past players is with alot of love. Even the way he dealt with each of them. The fact that he remembers their stories. Recognising their potential when others perhaps didn’t. Proper grandfather of modern football. Top man
Shame for the younger Arsenal fans as can't understand how ridiculously good that Invincibles team was, it was frightening. Every game it would be like 'ok how many they going to win by today?' and Thierry Henry is never going to be bettered in the Prem League, he was unbelievable.
Not just the invincibles, that 08 team was also incredibly underrated. That year imo we played our best football, but unfortunately we didn’t win any silverware, so it isn’t talked about enough.
@@kyoukaiten3834 you must be kidding me to compare gilberto silva with xhaka. Xhaka has no flow in his game, slow the game too much. Sure, his shooting technique is fantastic but that’s about it. There is not intensity in the pass when he touch.

Wenger would win more like 2,3 PLs if he was financially supported by the board. Almost won his 4th in the 07/08 season but Eduardo's injury affected the team a lot and we started dropping points and lose the 1st postion to Man United. The 15/16 season too, we missed that when key players were injured in important events
I think Man U and Chelsea were a bit better than Arsenal in 2008 but of course they both went all the way to the CL final so it was a great opportunity for Arsenal to go for the league. Only finished 4 pts off in the end, and towards the end of the season as you say they missed a couple of players and won only 1 out of 8 games between February and April.

This man kept Arsenal in the top 4 despite their limited funding post the stadium build. The Emirates should be renamed to the Arsene Wenger stadium because he made it possible.
Yeah agree. I’d love to see the day when clubs stop brassing themselves off to big companies for money- just so we can pay for players to have 12 Ferraris.

It is an odd thing. I'm a Scotsman but I have lived in Germany for eleven years and when I speak German, I can't hear my accent. Sometimes people will parrot things that I say back to me but I don't hear it as I talk.
I love the mention of gilberto, when I heard we were buying him after the world Cup, he was my designated favourite player for life, so true from Arsene aswell, he's always been a forgotten player of the past but so instrumental in that team, couldn't survive that season without him, what a player!
As a Blackburn fan, I have incredible love and respect for Mr Wenger. I am so proud that he managed for so long in my country. He will be missed so much when he eventually leaves this world. He helped make the Premiership the sporting powerhouse that it is today.
Arsene, Sir Alex and Jose were the 3 most influential managers in EPL. These 3 created the excitement, the tension and beauty of the modern game. Arsene was pivotal in getting that new Highbury Stadium, something that Arsenal desperately needed. I call Arsene a Professor of football

Arsene Wenger has commented football matches on French TV and I loved listening to him because he talked only football. He explained what was going on on the pitch like a coach, a strategist, a teacher. It gave us to see the game in a completely different angle only football professionals can see, even people who didn't understand anything to football, everything became clear, he opened our perspectives and it was simply very interesting to listen. Made the game more interesting to watch. Unfortunately he didn't stay long but Lizarazu eventually took over and he has the same approach. Except that he explains from a football academy coach's perspective, not the big club's coach perspective. Which is also very interesting because he talks more about the football basics.
Words can’t describe the love I have for this man. As a child growing up this man spoilt me as an Arsenal supporter. Will forever me grateful to this man!!!
Me too. I couldn't support Arsenal anymore after he was forced out. They way certain fans turned on him disgusted me, and I was okay with that until they actually got their way. That was it for me. Now I delight when they lose. The end of last season was hilarious to me. Beaten to 4th. By Spurs 😂 I hope our legendary French manager smiled too.

Two absolute Arsenal legends. This interview really cheered me up, during a very difficult time for me. Arsenal Wenger was on the receiving end of a lot of grief towards the end of his time as the manager of our club and maybe some of it was justified, as he himself said that he stayed too long at the end of his career.. However, we won the double twice, were invincible once and reached the Champions League final once thanks to him.

The Boss was called "Le Professeur" for a clear reason, this man changed football habits massively. Arsène wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson had to be in the Hall of Fame soon enough, because their influence in the Premier League and football in general was incredible.

@@MrChemenger I don't know much about Wenger's influence but I do remember hearing that Wenger basically started a movement to professionalize footballers at Arsenal. He’s the exact reason we HAVE ended up like Everton. Could have stepped aside before the big decline, when it was still an attractive job to world class coaches. I love the guy believe me, but he had to go and took the piss by staying as long as he did. I really do understand how it looks from the other side of the fence but Wenger destroyed his own legacy. No individual is bigger than the club. Incredibly depressing settling for the same mediocre results year after year. Had to be a change, even if we risk doing worse which we obviously have. It’s touching to hear him speak so fondly of the club, players and “values”. Also to turn Ian Wrights self-deprication of his “permanent aggression” into something to be seen as a “quality”. While it pains me and others to think of how fickle fans were in his final seasons at Arsenal he is undoubtedly above it all. An inspiring human.
Vieira was easily his best signing When he left in 2005…Arsenal didn’t win anything again till 2014. He was the rock in their team. When he left Arsene tried to build a team around small technical players and it didn’t work
Diaby without injuries could've arguably became even better than viera let alone replaced him but arsene should've signed kante ffs if he had kante and good striker in 16/17 arsenal would've won the leugue
I also think Arsenal were unfortunate with injuries. Diaby, Eduardo, Fabregas, RVP, Rosicky... had these guys been fit week in week out I think they would have won titles.
Wenger was right about Giroud.... Even when he was Chelsea he was massively underrated after costa ans Drogba he was the most consistent striker despite not playing regularly.... And when they finally played him in Europa regularly he was their top scorers and I feel he was more appreciated in Chelsea by the fans than Arsenal
He had the best playmaker in Europe feeding him and the rest of the team the most perfect plays. He was a donkey at the worst time and blossomed into a wicked powerful striker.
The guy is such a presence, that even the crew members want to talk to him and see his opinion.. and Wrighty understands that so much that he doesn't interupt the response or tell the camera man to stop. That's exactly why modern football is a circus. Players nowadays lost all respect to their peers, superiors and most of all to the fans. As a united fan the way I smiling when Mr. Wenger speaks is the same way I smile when I listen to Sir Alex. He’s an absolute legend of the game, he changed English football.
The Two Best managers to ever grace the beautiful game, SAF and Arsene Wenger
Every moment of happiness, disappointment, and joy shared with Arsenal fans around the world, Arsène was the one who taught me how to truly appreciate football. The style of play from Arsenal under his guidance left an unforgettable impression. Every decision Arsène made created cherished memories, and I was always excited whenever the players stepped onto the field. From the heart of a fan in Thailand, you are one of the best managers in the world.
Very beautiful comment, very well put. Spoke my mind as well..thanks. 💜
I'm a Manchester United fan but I really respect and love this man.

@@shush2222 what?????
I'm a full fat milk fan, me too bro
Its amazing how he remembers all the small details. Which clubs each of his players were at before joining him ,the amount they paid, the details behind the games. That's what made him one of the best
Ikr, how does he even remeber Kantes old club which isnt even in the pro league in france? He's got a notebook in his head
Only professor can give all details. That's why he's called the professor. The INVISIBLE
I could listen to Wenger reminiscing about his football and Career Past for 5 hrs, what a legend
Listening to him speak makes me so calm
As an Everton and Holland supporter I must say the team arsene had here was one of my favourites ever, Dennis Bergkamp was the best player to grace the premier league for me and feel blessed to see one of my hero's play in the premier league, pure class
Walking in a Bergkamp wonderland
@@michaellennox1229 unreal he was mate, some of the goals for Holland and arsenal were class, one of my favourites was the one against Newcastle when he flicked the ball over dabizas or Taylor and spun him then placed it in the bottom corner, being a Geordie but not supporting them makes it even better haha
You mean Netherlands.
Yes Richard, I adored Bergkamp. I miss my old teams of 76 🤗😍
@@karenyoung8341 he was just a magician with the ball, silky touch and control and could pick a pass no one else saw on
Wenger is the best all round manager football has ever seen. Not the most successful but when you look at his abilities across the board there can be no discussion.
He managed the entire health and evolution of the club Not just the actual football.
A genius

Sir Alex and Mourinho regularly wiped their asses with "the best all round manager football has ever seen". There can be no discussion about that.
Mick McCarty just said hold my beer.
As a Liverpool fan, I’ve always had a lot of respect for Arsène. Such a driven and iconic person in British football! Legend
This man is like a father to me when i hear him speak i got filled with lovely memories and some bad ones
He really has that Dad aura, firm but caring .. you can see Ian still feels like he is playing under him
What an absolute legend and even more so a gentleman.... Newcastle fan
This man literally changed the footballing world. Especially in UK where players behaved like amateurs. He addressed; diet, recovery, training, hydration, sleep etc. In short the seriousness footballers have to take today is due to this man's contribution. Always Mr Wenger, thanks sir for what you've done for football. #COYG
Great manager and amazing human being, Respect to Arséne Wenger from a Liverpool fan.
The hallmark of Arsenal football club. I grew up watching Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal and I learnt so much from Arsene. It’s almost impossible to replicate the man. An epitome of class, humility, and kindness, despite having conquered football for a decade. That’s something. I’m always humbled to see how he manages to never get himself in a sticky situation and is able manage any sort of scenario with absolute grace.
I’ve loved the man and I genuinely miss him. Extraordinary human.
u can't find someone foreign more convincing and more knowledgeable speaks about football in English than Arséne Wenger. The Boss was called "Le Professeur" for a clear reason, this man changed football habits massively. Arsène wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson had to be in the Hall of Fame soon enough, because their influence in the Premier League and football in general was incredible.
I remember when these two legends were still managing their clubs. I'm no fan of United or Arsenal, but Premier League was very exciting bcs of these two and ofc, the players too.
Careto elaborate on how exactly he changed football?
@@MrChemenger I don't know much about Wenger's influence but I do remember hearing that Wenger basically started a movement to professionalize footballers at Arsenal. Sort of like Pep Guardiola today with how obsessed he is about minor details. As I understand Wenger was obsessed with getting players to eat more healthy, stop drinking and stuff like that. I believe that it was Wenger that helped for example Tony Adams with his drinking problem. He's been sober now for 25 years.
Arsene Wenger brought me my most treasured memories as a gooner. A class act. I am grateful and honored to be alive during these times and witness so many great nights. Flying back from Greece to Manchester to see us do the double at old trafford was epic! Thank you Boss!
1998..Marc Overmars @old Trafford…I just knew we were going to win the league after that game
This man brings a smile to my face effortlessly, such a true gentleman and all round legend of the game.
What he did with the little funds he got from Arsenal was simply out of this world. A pure genius and a gentleman on and off the field.
Not an Arsenal fan, but I remember the media mocking him as a nobody coming from Japanese football when he first arrived at Arsenal. He's always struck me as a class act from the first time I saw him and I wish him all the best.
Never mind Bergkamp and Henry, THIS MAN is why I love Arsenal.
The Stadium should bare his name after 2028.
NO QUESTIONS
My Manager. ❤️
I think its 2026
And you see the big respect Ian Wright has for arsene . Nice to see
Can’t believe some Arsenal fans talked shit on him during his last years. He’s the exact reason Arsenal hasn’t ended up like Leeds United.
Wenger did not have the ambition to challenge for the league towards the end of his time as Arsenal manager in my opinion.
@@keenzoblock5782 You fool, so where is the ambition to win the league now.
@@spiderwebbmarketing Accepting top 4 every year, and getting knocked out of the champions league in the round of 16 or earlier EVERY YEAR is no less painful then finishing 8th my friend.
@@spiderwebbmarketing 6 or 7 years ago, Arsenal was an attractive job to managers like Klopp, Allegori etc etc. Wenger could have stepped aside, knowing he was no longer at the top of his game, but his ego meant that he overstayed his due instead of passing the torch to a more adequate manager. Now the Arsenal job is far from attractive for decent managers, and Wenger is partly to blame for that.
@@spiderwebbmarketing And for the record, the current squad feels far more ambitious then the lazy, greedy, unpassionate bastards we’ve had in the last 5 years. I take ESR over Ozil any day. Young players that care about the club and care about improving and getting results, instead of seeing our club as a comfortable retirement home. I’ve never been more behind the team.
Wenger's memory is amazing. What a fabulous pair of football legends these two dudes are.
Seeing Wenger and Wrighty together just put a smile on my face. Two people that love Arsenal to death . Thanks for the memories Boss ❤️
Last time I shed a tear was when Arsène announced his resignation on 20th April 2018. This man made me love football I will forever be in his debt!
Shows he was a real man & loved the club - not like Solskjaer clinging on for dear life so he doesn't lose his fat salary.
Vieira was easily his best signing
When he left in 2005…Arsenal didn’t win anything again till 2014.
Still not replaced Vieira... Like has been said Diaby was the closest they've come to replacing Vieira... But the injuries stopped him.
@@rube3k969 wilshere and walcott were also candidates, but not on the level of the players you said. They could have been, such a shame
@@jamiebaker3515 arsene made the biggest mistake in not getting kante cause he could have won the leugue in 16/17 with Kanye and good striker
I’ve always thought Arsenal was named after Arsene Wenger when I was younger. Anyone else?
I thought it was named after a large assortment of weaponry. An arsenal If you will
Me too😂 I thought he established the club
Me too
Same 😂😂
Me too 😂
Wenger was right about Giroud....
Ozil fed him enough at Arsenal too.. He wasn't just consistent
Look at France and the World Cup
They should make a film about it.
And Kanté would still probably go to buy a ticket
how can you not miss Arsene. living legend. love this man
The guy is such a presence, that even the crew members want to talk to him and see his opinion.. and Wrighty understands that so much that he doesn't interupt the response or tell the camera man to stop. Can you imagine any other talk show/interview program where a crew member asks questions from off camera? And Wenger loves the game so much, that he'll talk football with anyone who wants to talk football with him. Absolute class man, class manager.. gave me some of the best memories of my life.. and if anyone deserved that Champions League trophy it was him..
I have a big respect to him, regardless I'm an United fan. He and Sir Alex were legends that made me fall in love with Premier League.
He made Arsenal play a great game, great personality and great career.
Well said

Or you come out with your ambition and you look arrogant.
If we don’t have high targets, we slowly get into the comfort zone”
